Works well on local connect. I feel it's better than Sony's remote play and using other controllers is awesome. I have a Kishi and it works great. However, I can't get the remote connect to work. Tried all the options and followed all the instructions but no luck. Thats my only negative so far. Otherwise, I get to play my games anywhere in the house without being tethered to a TV. Makes me feel like I don't need Xbox game pass or Stadia. but if Remote Connect worked, it would be perfect for me
Reviews for PXPlay: Remote Play
← Back to PXPlay: Remote PlayExactly what I needed. I acquired a Backbone that was not equipped to run Playstation Remote Play, and this app does. Flawlessly, might I add. Super easy to set up, and it seems to have slightly better latency than the Sony app. Worth every penny, and that's saying a lot these days. If you have the regular Backbone and a PS4/5 you need this app.
This works flawlessly for me. I'm able to stream gameplay from my PS5 in the game room to my living room or bedroom with excellent video quality and surround sound! The auto setup didn't work, so I had to mess around with my network settings and the settings within the app itself. But if you're willing to delve into the details, it's well worth the payoff.
Hello kind sir! As you can see, I am using this app so I can play with my ps5 controller! There is just one tiny problem I would love for you to fix. Can you make it so when I connect my headphones to the phone, the mic on the headphones works instead of having to speak right into the phone? Thats all I ask for 😀✊! Other than that, beautiful app!! Edit: Is it possible of you can enable vibrations while playing with dualsense? And be able to press the mic button through the controller?
5 stars for basically any use case that is not mine, I use this on a surface duo so that I can play games and watch/listen to content at the same time which works fine except when I start a video it errors and I disconnect. This is a minor issue and I can hit connect to get back in. But it did not always do that and I'm not sure when it started happening. This doesn't happen when using the official remoteplay app but that doesn't work with my controller despite the internet saying it should work
I am a programmer and let me say, this deserves 100/10. Game streaming is tricky for a multitude of reasons from poor hardware capabilities to latency and responsiveness. I put this on my TV and after configuring it with HEVC and many other tweaks, it's smooth. I didn't want to drag my PS5 into another room, so streaming was a great option. I played on it for 12 hours (yes) yesterday and it didn't drop the connection even once. I even used my XSX controller with it! For issues: Get a new router!
Works great with my Razer Kishi! The official PS remote play app only works with Sony controllers. I used to use a Vita for remote play, but this is soooooo much better. I never had any hiccups (just the general lag from playing over network). The only thing I'd change is allowing the touch pad to be resized even larger. With my Kishi, it's the only thing I really need the touchscreen for. I'd like for it to take up pretty much the whole screen.
It was super easy to set up my DualShock 4 (with a custom button map for an inverted right stick, which the official app doesn't let you do!) and use it in PS5 games. I've been testing it over Bluetooth and I didn't notice any lag, though I'll also try connecting the controller with USB as the developer suggests. I haven't used it remotely yet but will update if there are any insurmountable problems. (I don't anticipate any!)
The app is great, great game quilty and allows you to remap Xbox controller so you can use your Xbox controller instead of going throw the complicated process of connecting ps5 controller to ps5, the only thing I have to say is on the free app it allows me to play away from home but the away on this app works about half the time so I have to bumb it down a star. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Worth the money as you can use a Xbox remote just by pressing a few buttons
Wow, just wow. The official remote app on my flagship gaming rig wired via ethernet cannot even compete with this mobile app. $5??? What a steal!! These guys beat Sony at their own game and it's unbelievable. Setup is super easy and went even better then the official app. I use a razer kishi and had zero issues configuring it. I have 5 GHz WIFI 6 and streaming at 720p I cannot tell the difference between this and directly on the console. Even while using Bluetooth headphones there is no lag.
What a difference! Works above and beyond. I can see why Sony doesn't like 3rd party controllers. Cuz my kishi just doesn't have the same feel of a DS4. BUT the convience and the controller tweaks certainly do the job. Great app. Leary at first, cuz of the price tag. Leary no longer. Very solid. Worth the purchase. Thank you for not doing in-app and supporting family library!
This will be the last time I edit my review. Originally, I said that it was near impossible to enable remote play via internet due to the need to configure your router. However, the developer kindly corrected me. To all who may find themselves frustrated with the same issue, there is a difference between 'automatic remote configuration and 'automatic remote connection'. Do the latter. 4 stars for app because instructions aren't idiot-proof. 5 stars for developer. TY
Edit: This was originally a 1 star review. Shortly after this I emailed the developer & they were so helpful. I slept a little late because they stayed up helping me out. We were able to find a solution. They also respond quickly. This is the best costumer service I've had. For those who have the same S21 issue, make sure that you disable game Booster plus & priority mode if you have that enabled. Maybe just disable the game plugins entirely. I hope this helps.
I don't generally review apps unless I have a strong feeling one way or the other. This app worked fantastically straight from the get go. I was able to connect to my PS5 seamlessly both local and remote (using the automatic mode, although their port forwarding instructions are super clear). The people complaining about connection quality either have inadequate internet or network hardware, or an outdated device. Also works great on my son's 4 year old OPO device. Game changer.
I would give it 5 stars, but I am struggling with hitting a consistent 60FPS on my Samsung S23 Ultra regardless if I hardwired my PS5, lowered the resolution and turning off bluetooth. I can see it hitting 60 Frames until it goes up and down. However, this is one of the essential ways to enjoy remote play and the amount of customization it offers makes the price point fair. Not to mention the latency is always on-point. It is still a very playable experience.
This app is a dream come true. It lets me connect my Razer Kishi to play my ps5 from anywhere like it's a Nintendo switch. Even better, it can use data, or wifi. There is some technical things you have to do to set up and get it working. However there is a guide for it. I'm not the most computer savvy and I was able to figure it out. This thing is awesome. Would rate is 6 stars if I could.
So, a little background first. I've had both a PS4 and a Nintendo Switch since release, and I thoroughly enjoy both. Fast forward a couple of years, and I got married, had a kid, and, you know, other life stuff. No longer being a bachelor, my PS4 took a back seat to my Switch so as not to monopolize the living room TV so the wife/child could watch shows/movies/etc. Now, while I enjoy my Switch, there are also games only available on more powerful consoles or console exclusives that I missed playing (i.e. The Batman Arkham series, Final Fantasy VII remake, Uncharted series). This led me down the route of researching a more mobile PS4 remote play option. I've used my PC with a wired DS4, which is great, but I was looking for a way to not be saddled in front of computer. I've used my PS Vita as well, but that really only works if you don't need to use L2/R2. This brought to the idea of using one of my old phones (in my case a Pixel 2XL) as a remote play client. After some research, I found that the Razer Kishi would be an excellent controller adapter for the phone (since it actually uses a USB-C connection and not Bluetooth), but I found the official PS Remote Play app only supports the DS4. Some further research led me to this app. It works perfectly with my Pixel 2XL and Razer Kishi setup, and damn is it fast and responsive! The time to load in to the PS4 is great, and the response time for games is perfect. I'm playing through Arkham City right now (haven't played it since the PS3), and it is perfect. I love being able to sit on the couch next to my wife while she watches one of her shows and be able to zip all over Gotham beating the baddies. I expected some slow down when using Remote Play (based on my experience with the official app on the PC and Vita), but I can honestly say that this performs loads better than the official app. I get full speed and no slowdown no matter where I am in my house, or even on my back porch. I apologize for being wordy, but I have nothing but great things to say about this app! Yes, it costs $5, but I would have payed four times that amount easily! This helped me transform my PS4 from a glorified, neglected paperweight to a way I can play my favorite games/new titles on either console, both from my couch without monopolizing the family room. An excellent app, and if there is any way we can help donate to development costs, please let us know!
Everything works very well. You will have to tinker with the settings to find that sweet spot for less/no frame-rate drop... 1 major thing I'm still figuring out: I couldn't play with friends. I have access to online, yes. But when it comes to actually inviting someone to join, they couldn't join. This is currently only on "Elden Ring", so I'll test out other games. 👍🏾
I am loving this app so far. only 1 minor problem that nobody has been able to help with. I am using the viture ultimate mobile controller and it's awesome btw. but when I press UP on the dpad it sets off a flurry of other button commands, almost like it's starting a macro sequence. I have looked at the button remapping and nothing seems out of the ordinary and I've also used a controller testing app and it performs 100% correctly. tested with a couple games and same result every time.
unfortunately performance wasn't good for me. I want it to start streaming my PlayStation 5 on a small Android device. so I played a little bit of resident evil village. and I noticed some of that blurriness that you get when streaming games. and I had it to communicate directly with my PlayStation 5 and I still have that issue. I'd love to play PlayStation 5 on a little handheld as opposed to on my monitor so I could do two things at once but I wasn't happy with the image quality. rg477m
