The app constantly glitches, won't sync and changed the measurement from inches to cm on historical data. When I reached out to tech support they said it had to be user error and that I didn't know how to use the device correctly, rather than ask further questions to see if their app might actually have an issue. The older renpho app seems to be better suited for it's purpose.
Reviews for RENPHO Health
← Back to RENPHO HealthRefuses to connect via Bluetooth to my scale. Have a galaxy s10, followed directions to pair, and my phone's Bluetooth itself can find the scale. But the app fails to recognize it and will not connect. The scale seems to work fine though. App doesn't. When pairing with device through my phone's Bluetooth it says the device shows up as "ES-24M" and says "An app is needed to use this device" and won't connect, and it won't connect via the app directly either. Edit:was resolved by turning on GPS.
Difficult to navigate, as a UX designer it hurts me a little. It takes way too much "testing" to determine where high profile, user-favored features, like adding a second user, are stored. I do this for a living and still can't find it. They also need to correct their grammar (low confidence) and consider that people buy this scale for alternate reasons. It almost turned me off of the entire product when my only options for my goals were "weight loss, diet, shaping." I'm a recovering anorexic.
I like the app and being able to track my weight loss progress. It can be quite motivating once I get started. However, the user interface isn't very well designed. It can be difficult to find what I'm looking for and I can't seem to locate a page where I can see which "measurements" goals I've set; I've just been able to see this by pretending I want to add more "target" measurements and scrolling over. MOST IMPORTANTLY: can we get a dark mode?
This app SUCKS. The entire reason I got the app is because I bought the Bluetooth scale to track my body fat percentage/water content/ muscle mass. It won't give me any data beyond my weight and BMI. You can't use the app without setting a 'goal' such as weight loss/shaping and then it shames you for your weight/BMI by saying they're 'not up to standard.' I didn't come for a substandard fitness app, I just want to track my percentages, as advertised. Tell me why this is the one thing it won't do
Your new app sucks, BIG TIME! Your old app qas flawless, easy to use and simple. Forcing us to use this new one that doesn't even import all the family members and making me start over was frustrating to say the least. On top of that, adding more than one member did not even save any of the member's information, especially using the body measurement. Took an hour doing everyone's just to find out that the save didn't even save... and no one's measurements came up under their profile! Fix ur app!
It's works great!!...when it's working. It'll take my measurements with the scale, but I'm not sure if it's saving it or not and then more than half the time I can't access trends or input any of my measurements. There needs to be a way to save to your local device and not just on the cloud that I somehow can't access because of "network issues" when there's nothing wrong with my Internet.
Not as good as the last, the food scale option is overrated. Bofy scale is awesome. I was tired of manually entering meals and ingredients in my fitness apps. Sadly the "library " is useless. It puts every option as the same stats, even for a simple canned vegetable. It's enough to make me give up meal prep again.
Unlike the old "Renpho" app, this new one cannot be loaded from the Play Store on my Samsung Tablets. Also poor is that this app must ALSO be OPEN for the scale to communicate with it. Why make a new app, then not make it available to any device, and take away automatic weight logging? I was able to finally sideload the app, and it worked mostly OK. Looks like the screen scaling is off a little -- don't know why they wouldn't make it smart enough to make the app fit any reasonable sized screen.
I, like others, likely only got this app because the original app would incessant about telling me that there was a new app available. Of course it included "social" in the pitch - as if I want any element of my smart scale tied into any social aspect of my life. But alas - I was not surprised to find that it's no better than the original application except now that it takes longer to get to my intended destination. Why have one click access when you can have three! 😒
If you read the critical reviews there are multiple problems-with the app mostly. Apparently there is a price to be paid for a relatively inexpensive scale. My problem: there is an app setting to measure your stats as an athlete or a normal person. (Most people aren't serious athletes). The app should be giving that option to choose and it doesn't. Contacted customer service not much help. App has many "bugs" I'd avoid this scale because if the app doesn't work correctly, your data=incorrect.
EDIT: After logging out, restarting my phone, and then logging back in, my data reappeared. There is still no sync option, though, & the app isn't as user friendly as it was. Everything takes more taps to do, it seems. I used to love the app. But after changing the app, my data will not sync. I've tried the trouble-shooting steps, but can't complete them because there are no "sync" options where the chatbot says there should be. I've logged in & out a few times.
Ok app. Good device. It asks for way too many permissions for me. But if you turn them off it's ok. However just never update it if it's working for what you want. Every time I've updated for"new features," (or really I just mis clicked and updated it) it asks for more permissions or breaks something that used to work. If it works, leave it be....
I used to really love this app. It gave nice readings including the weight and other things like how much fat and muscle mass you have. And plus I LOVED the option to change the theme to different color. In particular I loved the pink. After recent update, theme change option disappeared. Plus it doesn't fix the on-going pet peeve of mine of not showing full letters and numbers for data that's under Trends under Data Sources. I don't know why they implemented the new update.. it looks bad now.
As others have noted, this app is awful with the measuring tape. It seems to lose Bluetooth connection with the tape frequently. That's more of a hardware's issue with the tape. However, the worst part is that the app will just randomly skip to the next body part while you're still trying to get the tape to send the current measurement! So frustrating! Paper and pencil would work better! Also, this app seems to lack integration with Google Fit or Health Connect! Terrible.
The system does not reliably enter the measurements from the expensive tape they sell. It has what should be an excellent user-friendly interface, but it is painful because it does not respond to the buttons. Pressing the "confirm" button often doesn't record and move to the following field. Then it might record the measurements into the following fields and not let you edit. After a long entry process, it's easy to lose it all. After an hour putting in measurements, nothing is stored.
This would easily be a five-star review if they had not removed the feature to be able to select specific dates to compare weight loss to. In the old version, you could do this, but now it's gone. I recently started doing carnivore and want to track this specifically, but I really can't do that very well. Otherwise it's a very good app and I've enjoyed it. I really wish they would add that feature back in,though. I know there's a workaround to be able to add a guest to it but you shouldn't have
I like the graphical improvements and tracking ability. I find entering meals considerably more tedious than Samsung Health. Poor searching results, too much info required for custom food. No ability to track my workouts/walking without an integrated machine. It would be great if workouts and food could be shared between the Samsung Health App.
I like the old app much better. Syncing was more reliable and it was nice to see all the numbers on one screen. They still haven't fixed the BMI calculation though. It's close but it never quite matches up to what you get with online sites such as the CDC or NCBI. And since Renpho's numbers err on the high side, a little annoying. Not that BMI should be used anyway as it's been proved nonsense.
not very useful. first of all, it doesn't appear to log any weights if you don't have your phone with you, app open and Bluetooth on. Secondly, I hate the scale of the graph. No matter how long between weights, the distance between points is the same which does a really bad job at showing trends.
