Starts right up when open. Bluetooth to my kitchen radio with ease. Love being able to listen to one of my favorite stations multiple ways. Would have given a 5 Star but I noticed sometimes the songs can stop while playing and I just restart the music again. Like a timer or time delay situation that happens. Otherwise, very pleased. Internal phone issues with this app... not sure if there are any.
Reviews for Simple Radio: Live AM FM Radio
← Back to Simple Radio: Live AM FM RadioEdit: The free version is lousy. I finally decided to pay for it. It's fine now. No frills, which is what I want, but also no problems. Still wish the free version worked better. Edit: Now it has audio ads that play over the station I'm trying to listen to. That's really inexcusable. You can run ads, but don't interfere with my user experience. It's a decent radio app, but the video ad overlays are really obstructive.
I've only used this app for a few days, but I'm happy with it and I'll be using it a lot. I was delighted with the selection of international stations. Perhaps this makes this a niche review, but to be able to listen to great stations from Uruguay, good old Puerto Vallarta, and Ireland as I drive across Utah, is just awesome. The interface is dated, but simple to use, and the search function works well (But don't leave trailing spaces or you will get zero results. That needs to be fixed.)
Sudden drastic change to what was previously the only radio app I needed. Ads got a little pushier than before, but for some reason the new layout has no option to search, and no visible way to move between panes. I only had one station favorited when the change occurred, and it's now the only station I could access. I don't know what happened, but I see some other very recent reviews that are reporting similar major issues with this overhaul.
Works well. Lots of stations to choose from. Best radio app I've found- simple, sleek, low memory use. Edit February 2024. Obviously the developers don't fix issues. I still have to force stop the app to get it to drop off the notification bar. Otherwise it just sits there in my way, even stopped or paused. I still use the app because it's the best radio app I've tried, however this bug is really frustrating and I posted about it this time last year too.
It's great... it is consistent and doesn't just drop the station while listening like TuneIn does, which is the most annoying thing ever, because you have to listen to the same old commercials or it simply won't work at all!!! This app is awesome and I would recommend it to anyone! Thank you for not bombarding us with trite, annoying commercials. 🙏❤😊
Works so much better than other radio apps! Like the title, it's a simple pain free radio! 10/26/20 update: I paid to remove ads, and I no longer have pop up ads from the app, but I've noticed a lot of the stations I listen to have a long stream of aired ads now. Idk if it's this app or the station itself, but 10 minutes of nonstop streamed ads are unacceptable.
It's great to be able to surf stations around the globe, but a lot of them aren't actively broadcasting, and the video ad popups required EVERY SINGLE TIME a station is changed really is annoying - so much so that the app becomes unusable for surfing stations. Sometimes, the ads go into an endless loop, where users are forced to watch the ad, then click play, and watch the same ad over again and again. Plus - InfoWars? Really? That lying seditionist platform really need to be taken down.
I cannot keep up with all of these ads! They are always jumping in the way if you want to change channels or do anything. Even just starting up, you have to race to beat the ads, and often I accidentally missed the x so I can delete the ad, and I end up wasting data as my phone tries to download that app and wasting me more time and data very frustrating app! HOW could it have gotten a 4 star rating???? Someone is doing something unscrupulous or messing with the algorithms or something. This c
It's nice to listen to your favorite radio station during a train commute so I appreciate the app. My issue with this app is that when it loses Internet connection it doesn't try to reconnect most times. I have to pause the app and restart it manually almost every time, then it works. Unfunny enough, the commercials never fail. Couldn't anyone make an app that automatically and persistently tries to reconnect to the Internet when it loses connection all by itself?
Constantly stops, reloads which triggers ads, and repeatedly does the same even while something is playing. Really tired of this, so uninstalling and find one that won't constantly reload. Ads wouldn't be an issue if it weren't for reloading every 15 seconds or so. This happens with every station changed to. If you would like to help to resolve the problem, please provide an email address. If successful, I'll change the comment and add some stars.
Way too many commercials. Too many to even try out the app. Tick tock keeps getting shoved into my face. Also, the app wants your credit card if you want to try add free. I know a lot of apps do, but I just believe that a credit card should only be given if I want to purchase the app. Call me what you want, but you know I'm right😎 Update... I just got another ad pop up while using this app to install some kind of program. I could not exit out. I just uninstalled this app and on to next one.
Did not have the local radio station I wished to listen to, and there is no way to cancel the subscription within the app. No settings, no interface, just "search" and "favorites". Yes, extremely basic (simple), but it seems very "scammy" to me that you would offer a paid subscription upon downloading the app, then have no means of canceling within.
I understand ads & making money. You need to understand free trial. A free trial is so a person can actually use the service, which hopefully, they like well enough to buy. You won't accomplish that when it takes several tries to find a participating station then after 4 full length commercials and still no music I tried to back out to the main menu and then got hit with pop up after pop up. Offer a 3 day free trial, no ads, full service, THEN pay or cancel.
There's no way to search or add new stations without uninstalling and reinstalling. When launching it goes straight to the favorites and there's no menu or search bar anymore. So to search, you better have all the stations written down because you only get one chance to find stations. It's seriously broken. Maybe it's that I'm on the latest version of Android on my aging, but still supported (and paid for), Pixel 6. I'll change my rating back to 5 stars if this can be fixed...
Terrible. I start playing the music then put my phone in an armband and go walking. Simple Radio stops the music every 10-15 minutes and in order to start it again, I have to stop, take off the armband, remove my phone and press play again, and put the armband back on. It stops the music for an ad and doesn't start it again until I manually restart it. It frequently stops because various stations become unavailable while listening. It would probably stop the music if a cloud appears in the sky.
Sometimes less IS more. The focus of Simple Radio is not on the bells and whistles that often bloat already add-crazed apps, but instead it provides easy access to stream your favorite radio stations with solid clarity and connection. It loads quickly and you can customize your station list without fear of another add bombarding you at the slightest touch. I made the switch when my last radio app kept dropping and glitching. I'm so glad I did.
The advertising has gotten overbearing. 😞 Every time U change the channel you have at least two video ads and it tries to force you to load the app that it's advertising! 😞 I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS APP! if you change the channel a few times in a row you have to sit through all the ads over and over and over again and again! Sometimes the ads are so hard to get out of you have to close and reopen the app, but of course that means you have to sit through even more ads!😞THEY INTERRUPT BIG TIME!!
It's free, so I don't mind that they added ads, but the way the ads are implemented is super annoying. I just updated the app because, for a while, I couldn't get my station to play. It was just ad after ad. I guess they fixed that. I came to give it a bad review but decided to try re-downloading since it still showed a ton of good reviews. Overall, a good app.
Works well until it doesn't. I pay for the premium version of this app and when it works it's great. Once it a while though it just will not load any station no matter what I do (closing and restarting the app, disconnecting from Bluetooth, etc.). That's pretty disappointing considering I paid $20 for it. It should do its one job 100% of the time.
