I have tried a lot of receipt scanners but eventually the software would stop working with my computer... but now this app has been making it easier for me to scan in and organize my receipts. I've been using it to track business expenses and it makes it much faster to upload and file away receipts until tax time--and then export my data whenever I need to pull it. Have recommended this to other people in my form.
Reviews for SimplyWise: Receipts, Expenses
I have used this app for about 6 months, purchased version, but not the business version. Up until the last update the app did everything I needed it to do. I loved it. Now mot so much. Now I am having the same problems that the review from VB on 10/30/23 lines out. Very frustrating. Please get the performance back to what it was a few weeks back.
Had it installed for 5 minutes and it's buggy. Initially went into 'Work' folder, backed out, created two additional folders, and my new document went into the 'Work' folder that I was not in. There's no option to create hierarchical folders, folders that are nested within another folder. So it may be work folder, but I cannot save receipts according to each job or client. It's useless to me without this functionality. If you have very few receipts to scan then this may be a useful app.
I'm pretty disappointed. I wanted to try out the free version of the app and determine whether it's worth paying for the premium options. The free version was incredibly glitchy on my Samsung device. Every time I tried to create my own categories rather than select the default ones, it would allow me to search for an icon, but tapping on the icon I wanted did absolutely nothing. I was unable to move past this. The only way I was able to continue setup was if I selected at least 3 default options
So I've just started and setting up the app and below start trial it says start 7 day free trial, then I can toggle the switch to yearly or weekly. It says the weekly is $4.99 a week (Which would be $259.48 a year) and then the yearly states it's $89.99 the says cancel anytime. So is this not a free app to use? Because on the reviews I seen someone had used the free version for 5 months, why am I offered a 7 day free trial? Should I just delete it now?
I like this app. Allows me to throw away receipts and clustered documents. Is really helping me keep organized. But I discovered today that I cannot zoom in on the photo documents. If there is a way, I'd appreciate the secret. But if not, then why does this app not have that feature? If I need to read something small on a document, I can't zoom in and that one feature defeats my whole purpose in using this app. Please integrate this feature!
I'm trying out budget aps. This one tracks through email receipts and receipts you enter by taking a picture. I don't see a way to just track starting with 1-1-24. My 2023 email receipts are included. This is just confusing. It also means I have fewer receipts I can have before I have to pay $29.99 for a year of unlimited scans. The worst part is there is no way I can see to get customer service.
Buggy (receipts often don't save properly). Also this will only categorize your receipts, whether email or paper; you can reconcile with bank transactions (when that works) although I'm not sure what use that would be, but you can't categorize bank transactions that you don't have a receipt for without manually creating a blank receipt and typing all the transaction info in. And to top it off, you can't export to a spreadsheet without a $90 yearly subscription on TOP of the $30 for basic use!
I purchased the PRO version of this app for personal and business use. I am very disappointed. I wasted a few hours of my valuable time. The app will not let me create rules (saves hrs). It is extremely slow. Syncing accounts is very difficult. The app freezed a few times. This is day 1 and i am not a finance guru or accustomed with these type of apps; but for me to have this many issues on day 1 caused me to leave. Quickbooks is $15 a month, almost the same price... except it's a solid product.
I scanned 33 CVS receipts to test. The app only picked up the right date and total on 2 of them. Receipts were crisp and clear. I noticed that if the month and day were before today's month and day, it would automatically make the date 2024 (even tho the date was in 2023). This is a logic error as it was reading the month and day fine. I had to keep manually updating the year. The total was more successful, but it was only about 70/30.
