My previous phone did not need an app to play music. They just paired to my phone and played, just like every other Bluetooth device in the whole world. I get a new phone and now I need a whole other app just to play my music? I don't like that lol. Anyway, I download the app and the app just will not pick up my headphones despite them being paired to my phone and Bluetooth function on. I'm so frustrated, I'm just calling these headphones a loss and will get a new pair. Do not recommend.
Reviews for Skullcandy
← Back to SkullcandyIts a very simple and straight forward app to use.... however, if I change the audio from podcast to music, music to movie, etc., My audio starts repeatedly cutting in and about like something you'd do as a kid with your hands over your ears in the elementary cafeteria. The only way I've found I can fix the issue is completely turning off my headphones and turning them back on. Yesterday just to test, I disabled the app and had no trouble at all.
App worked perfectly fine on my old phone model, then they randomly updated the thing and all of a sudden it is not compatible with my device. So I upgraded to a newer model phone and, wouldn't you know, it still isn't compatible with my device. Don't bother with their products unless you are a latest product chaser, because I guess legacy support doesn't matter to anyone in the cell phone industry anymore. The earbuds I purchased work at least, but it would have been nice if I could have used the app that was loudly advertised on the box of the earbuds to actually use them to their fullest potential. Leaving this here until they update it to work with older phones again.
Not sure if it's because i've had my headphones for a while and they never turn off. But, this app doesn't let me "connect" to them. I was looking for why my Crusher ANC wouldn't connect to more than one device. I've had this problem for more than a year but I put it off hoping a update comes. When I first got these I promise you I could connect to my Laptop and Phone. Now I can only do one... But that's not my main issue here. It's that I cannot connect to my headphones within your app anymore.
Update!!!!: They now connect to the app!! And I can say it's a very user friendly. My main reason for the app was to be able to know battery life since the headphones themselves control everything else. But I enjoy skullcandy products so in the future I'll be able to add more products to the same app. Got the Crusher Evo's, but since they won't connect to the app, I don't know how operational the app is. When fixed, I will re-review.
Joke of an app and company. You have to download an app to pair your Bluetooth headphones to your phone, whoever in their right mind wants to be able to download yet another app for such a small and arbitrary thing as pairing your headphones? It makes the convenience of having Bluetooth headphones be completely out the freaking window what an absolute joke. Better yet, the app won't even detect the headphones. I've been trying for the last half hour to get the damn headphones to pair. Idiots.
After having this app and forgetting about it for a few years, I decided to try it out again to check the battery on my heaphones more accurately. Unfortunately, not only was the battery reading inaccurate, it started to drain the battery on my headphones. Instandly they went from lasting 24+ of standby with roughly 15 hours of playtime between that to draining in 7 hours while in standby mode. Thankfully deleting the app fixed that, but I would give a 0/5 if I could.
Unable to connect. Sure the ear buds are paired to the phone, but the app that is on the phone? Nope. "Make sure the item is in close proximity" You mean like right next to the phone? Still can't connect. The earbuds are worthless, won't pair to one another and since the app won't recognize them can't register them to get them replaced under warranty. Last product I will ever buy and Uninstalling this worthless app right now.
Well, roughly 10 minutes and I already hate the app. Not because of its ability to work but it's small availability to connect to Skullcandy's wide selection of wireless headphones. I use the model of Crusher's before the ANC. I would like to use the app to connect my headphones and see it's battery, without using my phone's poor judgment of battery percentage. The app didn't crash at all, just poor availability to their use of products.
I have tried to use this app many times with both Crusher Evo and Jib True. First it wouldn't connect to my devices, and still won't most of the time. When it does connect, my audio is not optimized, but instead goes in and out as if the headphones are struggling to connect, as if I am too far from my devices. This was the second time I had downloaded the app, and it just never works right. Please fix it friends.
This is possibly the most useless app I have ever downloaded. It's pretty much just a data collector for Skullcandy which is really disappointing. It tells you the condition of your headphones (which your phone already does), gives acces to basic features (which you can do through the headphones), and gives you instructions on how to use the features it gives you access to (which come with the headphones and can be found online). Do not download.
Voice command goes on and off automatically without even while listening to my music. Voice command will not work when I go for run when my running app and music app is playing. The phone is put in a running pack around my waist and Voice command will not work. . I should just be able to ask it to do something and it won't. Voice command comes on and goes off by itself. What is the sense of having it if it works when it wants to. Also. Earbud bands are too short. Falls off all the time.
The app does what I need it to, but I feel it could be made better with minimal effort. For one, I'd like my preference for ambiant and noise cancelling modes to be saved, so I don't have to manually turn it on every time. Also, I'd like an option to disable the earbud's touch controls (or button controls, depending on earbud model).
(Using this with Crusher Evo.) Rather basic functionality, it'd really be nice if there was a proper graphic equalizer. As is, there's personalized audio, which I haven't tried out yet. There's options to find the headphone if you've misplaced it and to reset it. And then there's modes for music, movies and podcasts. I HIGHLY recommend movie mode, even for music, at least if you like vocals. It brings them out so they don't get lost in the heavy bass so much with the slider up.
Alright, this app works perfectly. Everything it says that it will do, it does. Except for one thing. My grind fuel wont stay connected to the app. It connects for maybe five minutes before it just disconnects. I want to stay connected so that I can use the voice commands but it's doable without. I can live without it and it might just be a problem with my off brand android but if this problem could be fixed it would be greatly appreciated. Love all Skullcandy products. They never cease to amaze
The app is needed to use any and all features that are advertised - but the app requires access to your location, etc. So they are data mining me after i bought the product. In addition, the main pull - the voice commands - don't even work. The device will recognize "Hey, Skullcandy" but not any command after it. Go with something else, this is an embarassment.
I honestly don't review apps much at all. Maybe did once before this one. I checked what people wrote because this was surprisingly low. Skullcandy, as a product, is great. The head shaking bass is amazing. This app? The opposite. It can't find the headphones when the headphones are on and I'm listening to music with them. On my phone. How is that even possible.
I'm not happy with the new app. Somehow, my headphones split into 2 separate bluetooth devices, and audio will only come from one. Factory resetting them didn't help. Forgetting and re-pairing them didn't help. Letting them die completely then resyncing them didn't help. Taking them out at the same time, holding the buttons at the same time, connecting them at the same time. Nothing helps. I chucked them out the window going down the highway. If it ain't broke don't fix it. 👎🏻
I would love to customize the connect message. If I'm switching to the earbuds from another device, I don't want to wait the 5-10 seconds for the voice to give me all those details. I just want a short beep. Sadly, the latest update took away most of the customizations. You used to be able to control what the buttons do. Now you're stuck with defaults. I won't be buying Skullcandy in the future
sound quality is good, very comfortable in ears, and set up is easy. However, sometimes when I'm moving or exercising with the buds in, one or both of them will shut off or get very quiet for a second and go back to normal. It makes music and my tempo less enjoyable and it's very noticeable. The battery runs out a bit quicker than advertised too.
