For the price, it's a very good app. I listed to books everyday on my commute. I used Audible for a year but I found this to be a very worthwhile replacement. It was actually the first app I ever paid any money for. I will say, the past week or so, 10 minutes into playing my volume drops, eventually down to silent. Then it will pause, if I hit play again it works fine. Or if I start to hear the volume drop and right away hit pause on my car controls, and then hit play again it goes right back to full volume. I have been using this for probably 6 months and never had this issue, just the last week. Overall, for the price of the app, it works really well and I don't regret my purchase, I will use it for hours and hours, heck I have for over 200 hours so far. I just hope this "bug" gets fixed in an update. Alex thank you for your response, I will give it a try.
Reviews for Smart AudioBook Player
← Back to Smart AudioBook PlayerI love this app, it works very well for me but the auto-rewind feature could use some enhancing. I primarily listen to my books in the car. I like the auto-rewind when I've been away from the book for several hours, it reminds me where I was. But often the book gets interrupted for a short period of time with other audio from the phone (navigation, etc) or by me manually pausing it for one reason or the other. In these cases the rewind is annoying, I don't need to review from only a few seconds or even several minutes ago. It would be great if we could have move control over when and how long the re-wind worked.
Loved this app so much! Unfortunately, this morning, it just stopped working mid-audiobook with a pop-up stating the app has a bug & requires an update to fix it. I can't even open the app now. Cleared the cache, uninstalled & reinstalled, & restarted my phone- nothing helped as the app continues to crash. Please fix the bug & update the app!- The issue is with the entire app not just 1 book.
While previously this app had been my go to for years, worthy of 5 stars. Now however, the app is bricked and won't even open. Updated, restarted, Uninstalled/reinstalled to no avail... Did a little digging and I'm the one at fault. Downloaded a corrupt file that was causing the crashes. Thanks dev, for reaching out. Well worthy of 5 stars and my continued patronage! The navigation buttons have disappeared.. any idea how to get them back?
Best audiobook app I've used. I was happy to pay for it. UPDATE: For some reason the cover search no longer works for Google, and must use Bing. Also, the aspect ratio of the cover image for searched covers are off. UPDATE 2: The updated app provided worked well and fixed the issue for about two weeks, but suddenly cover search stored working again. App seems to be able to register the image, but doesn't save it into the folder.
This was exactly what I was looking for. It's very useful and functional. However, most of the "features" that you have to pay for are really just normal things you would never expect to not be part of an audiobook app. It would be like an email app making you have to pay to see the email address that the emails you receive are sent from. Why would that not be a thing, free or not?
100% recommend to everyone. I'm disabled & the only way I find time to read is to listen while trying to make it through the day. Others I had no organization, no playlist, or had a playlist but no auto play. Even when I could pay the premium $ for audible & wanted to use auto play, only 1 book in queue & it would play a long ad in between which almost always included loud noises, sound FX, or screaming catching me off guard/scaring me awake when listening to comfort books overnight.
Best audio book player app. Handles my large files very well- Stormlight Archive fans rejoice! Very affordable full unlock to continue accessing all the best features, well worth the price. It can handle chapter titles within a single file, and the sleep timer end of chapter works for these too! (I have experienced other players that didn't)
For somebody who is looking for a simple to the point design app that is hassle free to use and to the point, this app is really not for me even on the Pro version. Updated review: Updating from 3 Stars to 5 Stars after experiencing 30+ audiobooks on this app, I have been able to get rid of all of the unecessary buttons on the app to make it more clean and minimal. In addition to that, I like how the app logs the current book's location and settings (like reading speed). I would definitely rec!
This audiobook app has stellar features and is pretty great in many ways. But it lacks one of the features that I want and need the most. I can't use Google Assistant to to fast forward or rewind the audiobook I'm playing. Oddly, it will allow me to use Google Assistant to pause and play it. But, I have no use for any audiobook app that doesn't allow me to have hands-free control of fast forward and rewind in addition to pause and play. Also, it won't let me add or delete just one audiobook,
Nice features and consistent performance. Worth the price for premium. I use the speed control feature pretty often to slow down some audio books that get too hard to follow. Transferring my collection to a new phone (manually via usb) and loading up the app was painless, and I can pick up The Death Gate Cycle right where I left off.
This is my favourite app. Since I work at a physically demanding job but mostly by myself, and since I need ear protection most of the time anyway, I use this app for audiobooks and courses 4 to 6 hours a day. It literally does everything I could ever ask of it, keeping my library of hundreds and hundreds of audiobooks perfectly well organized. Using this app for many years, I have got to roughly b2 in two new languages, gone through countless Great Courses series, and listened to 100s of books
I love this app, I've never used a better audiobook app. My biggest issue is that I feel like it's pranking me. Once every few weeks it will force close while I'm listening because it received an update. When I reopen it and begin listening to the book again, the voice of the narrator is at a deeper pitch. I reset the pitch in the audio settings and nothing changes. I am on the 4th book this has happened with and I worry that eventually it will be a deep baritone voice, reading to me from hell.
I have really enjoyed using this app. The connection somehow works better than Audible and my bluetooth earbuds don't lose connection as much. Plus, it just starts playing when I press play - no having to connect to the internet to authenticate. I am having a problem though. All of a sudden (after several books), each chapter is repeating after it is finished. If I click "next chapter), it moves on and plays, but then repeats at the end of the chapter. *Resolved w/app restart*
This little app deserves the 4 stars I gave it. It is a tightly focused app that competently handles locally stored audiobooks. It is better than the Audible player. It is stable and provides an efficient, easy to use interface. Highly recommend to anyone that frequently listens to books. Guys, filesystem structures for book storage is pretty 1995. You really need to start using file metadata to do useful things like logical grouping of titles, genre filtering, and effective search.
best app I've found for audiobooks, love it! I listen to about 1 book a day, and since I'm a cheap-skate I didn't want to pay for the full version after the trial. I couldn't find another that could even come close to covering the basic needs of listening to audiobooks (on your phone.) best one out there. pay for the full version it's worth it. if you listen to audiobooks don't bother looking for another app. it's a waste of time. ps works great to play my torrent files.
This app works amazingly well, and is absolutely worth the full version purchase price. I got to use it full-featured for a month, which gave me plenty of time and made the purchase an easy choice. One gripe: I wish Android Auto would show the chapter progress, not the book progress as a whole.
This is a great audiobook app with all the features you'd want. The app will automatically find book covers, and recognize chapters within single files to enable easy chapter navigation. audio can be sped up or slowed down easily. It can be slightly fiddly to get books organized initially. Premium features are unlockable for a one-time payment that's very reasonable, and no subscription is required. I recommend this app to all my friends who use audiobooks over Audible.
Good. But why does viewing all of my books pause the playback? And I think adding a feature to view the photos/images in the audiobooks folder would be nice. If a story has maps, family trees, etc it'd be nice to be able to quickly reference them. Similar to how useful the characters/people note taking section is, it'd just be another way to keep track of things in stories.
This has been an excellent audiobook player. slightly tedious to get things into the proper folder on the back side, but easy enough to do and the rewards are great. I have recommended this to others who are listening to audio particularly audiobooks. automatically aligns track numbers allows for speed setting, and remembers where you are.
