Reviews for Soundtrap: Music Making Studio

← Back to Soundtrap: Music Making Studio

I'm not sure what the app is used besides listening to your music. The only feature I like about soundtrap's app is that you can exit the app, and it would still play the song. It takes longer to start the app up rather than going to your mobile web browser and signing in and entering the studio in the browser. It really does take that much time to load.

I was planning on getting back into making music, but this app killed all my motivation. I used to use it all the time on desktop, but my PC died a few months ago. So I'm just stuck with my phone/tablet. The app extremely difficult to use and there's no piano roll which is something very crucial to music production. (Phone version has piano roll but it's buggy and not worth it.) On tablet, the app is fine, there's just no piano roll so I can't even do what I need to, like many others.

I've used the desktop version for a while and I love it, but they made a bad app honestly. if you can get it to work then you should have no problems, but most of us can't even get it to work in the first place. I've reinstalled this multiple times and always run into the problems of - No sound - Unable to record sound - Consistant crashes for no apparent reason - And simply not able to open or click things I did just a second ago. I love the program, but they really need an overhaul on the app.

I use the regular browser and mobile app and I have got to say this is one of the best music making apps I have ever used. Everything is incredibly user friendly, and the exports work great! I have had incredible success with this app, and I would reccomend it to anyone who is trying out music making for the first time. I deducted one star for the mobile version, which is hard to navigate, but besides that works great. Please make songs easier to export off mobile!

The app is great, only issue is that I can't use it. Whenever I try to reopen an existing project, it will load to about 88% and then crash every single time. Same with when I try to share with a friend. The studio is great on computer, but on mobile it literally does not work. Really dissapointing that I can't use such a good production studio.

Have to be honest and say I only downloaded this out of impulse because I am constantly singing, humming melodies and I've been wanting to attempt to make a song or a cover. And this app is perfect for beginners because it provides tutorials on how to get started. It has plenty of loops of any genre you could think of, instruments you can play and record your sounds. And you can incorporate your voice in as well! Great quality little studio to take on the go!

OKAY..So, I used the website for school..Seemed normal, fun and cool. BUT, when I got home and I wanted to try it out..It was weird. One, the piano (or any musical instrument on the app) made no sound at all, three buttons pressed? Only one made sound. I tried to fix it, nothing worked. Even when the sound did show up, I played it and, again, there was only one that was making sound. Very annoying.

Gets the job done, albeit horribly. Odds are your device won't have the memory capacity to run it, and there are weird bugs like the snare sounding like a bass drum. Aside from that, the UI is sooooooooo cramped and tiny that the slightest mis-tap will send your phone into an aneurysm. I can't recommend the web version on desktop enough. Edit--Still a buggy mess, nothing has changed and they haven't made an effort to better the app. Again, the desktop version gets more updates and attention.

This newest version of the app is backwards in terms of UI and usability. It opens directly to a project, which sucks if you are trying to just listen to your songs through your phone/Bluetooth. The old app did not start in a project, it took you to your profile where you could view all your tracks/songs. No way to skip ahead or go back when you start playing a song. You could easily do this in the old app. The songs are not sorted by folder like the desktop app. Much more but 500/500words

if you're looking for an android version to a certain free music making app but sadly it's made by a fruit-based corp only for overpriced products of the same brand, Soundtrap. The interface can be wonky. Pros: you can still make music, duh. That's it. Cons: can't create a note on the piano roll. Can't export as MP3 files. You have to pay for 3/4 the instruments. You're pretty limited with the choices. In other words, as a former 4:3 tablet user, I think that other app is better than that.

Wouldn't allow me to unsuscribe on the website & was charged $167 for something that I attempted to cancel multiple times prior to the subscription renewal, but the hyperlink was/is inoperable. Could not find a way to contact the company directly to cancel. App itself is ok. Would be nice to be able to import personal songs from other platforms to edit in the app. After working with multiple platforms, both paid & free, this one is not worth $167 lump sum. Should offer mth to mth options.

I've used this application and software for about a year, and the desktop version for 5 years, both are wildly different, one can barely run correctly if i do anything, one runs perfect no matter I throw at it. Can't download my projects off this app no matter what I've tried, especially when I click download, it shows the download bar, says it's complete, and then it's nowhere to be found in any part of my files, very very irritating to use and overall bad design leads me to a 2/5.

I've always had a connection with music. I know nothing of how to read music. This app and others have helped me open a side of me I didn't know I have. It's exciting putting together beats. I would've given it 5 stars but like when I'm in the loops and beats section, the calibration sensitivity is too high. If I try to tap on any certain loop at all mote left to right it will take me out of the loop section. Other than that it's great, I want to learn way more before I spend for the premium.

The app is amazing especially if you are a beginner however, I can't directly download my music to my phone. I wish the experience was more like that of the experience on PC. I find that the mobile app is a lot harder to navigate, and is missing several features, and the audio is so much Better on PC. Therefore if you can you are better off is the PC application. However I do still recommend soundtrap.

Garbage. I made some cool music in the app, the only problem being I can't download it. Exporting does work, yes, but after closing the app you open the file in, it's gone. The files aren't saved as any recognizable format, as when attempting to share it the file type is shown as UNKNOWN on my phone. Literally unable to export files, even in the web version. Utter garbage.

I use this app on a computer at school and it works amazing. But, on mobile, it's an utter disaster. It's buggy, audio won't download, things disappear from time to time. I give it three stars only because the desktop version is lovely to work with, but I only have access to that version at school. Please fix the bugs, this is a wonderful, beginner-friendly music software, but it could be so much better on mobile

I love soundtrap! thanks for making it perfect for on the go! my only request would be to add functioning type c/BT keyboard options for the instruments. I usually bring my tablet and keyboard with me and it would be nice to have that function since it's easier to get timing down with keys than tapping the screen. much thanks!

Amazing on PC, horrid on mobile. The streaming quality is very poor (crackling, skipping, bass popping) On the piano roll, the app often cant tell if you are moving a note, stretching a note, or side scrolling, so every operation takes several tries. The loops take ages to load and the app isn't fast enough to change instruments while your track plays. To those having issues downloading, I was able to export my files by going to soundtrap in my mobile browser and downloading from there.

Came back to this after not being on it for a few years, and my projects say empty, and I went into the studio to edit the track, when I go to save I can't because now you're charging us to save it, what kind of ridiculous and unnecessary change is that, I've seen crazy changes on this app, but that is the worst, this app was so much better back in 2019. At this point you're just trying any possible way to get money from us.

as someone who has been making music for 3 years now, the web version is usable, the app, not so much, you can't place down notes in the midi editor, you can't edit the synthesizer at all, it is borderline impossible to select multiple notes at once, it doesn't know what input you're trying to do, like stretching the note, moving it, or selecting it, and it overall kinda sucks in the way that it milks the subscription concept to the very core. just use bandlab, its free and it actually works
