Reviews for SqueezePlayer

← Back to SqueezePlayer

After having various playback issues with SB Player and Squeezelite via Termux, I returned to SqueezePlayer. Much simpler to setup, and it works reliably to play from all sources I have configured in LMS.

Great app that turns a phone into a squeeze box. Works well and does what suppose to. I use it within local network only because I run Emby Media server for streaming via Internet.

It just works, no messing around. Very happy with the app and the ability to use my android devices as squeezebox speakers. Very easy to setup and works seemlessly with squeezer

Great app. Just go to your server address in your browser. Don't forget to go to /material. It's included in the docker image. My phone 📱 turns up the volume after every song. Maybe a server setting.

Works well except it keeps resetting the url of the server to localhost even though I have entered a specific url. Can you fix? Thank you.

Great so far, I can now listen to my Squeezebox library really through my phone. Only issue is songs go quiet at the end of each track?

When I bought this app I was under the impression it would allow me access to my SB server and allow me to view and select my music, it does not, it connects to my server but does not allow me to view and select my music in the app. Ya need to purchase another app to do that. Requested a refund and was denied. What an assumptive, juvenile and unprofessional response from a developer to a customers valid review. Read the other 1 star reviews, I am not alone. My 1 star review stands.

great app, but what makes it very annoying is that it turns the volume of the phone down if playback is pauses. please change this. also odd that the material skin app is not recognised. (and the app has not been updated in 3 years)

Perfect app, I can listen to my music in my Android devices. Never crashes, I have been using tis app for a while now.

Great way to turn your Android into a Squeezeplayer. Using SlimDevices/LMS since almost 2 decades and this App since I own a Smartphone. No issues at all.

Only worked for a short while,it now keeps saying player has stopped,I have tried several times to get it running but have failed,I think it's an android thing.

Does an excellent job of emulating a Squeezebox which is great since all of my original units have died. I can still use the Squeezebox system by running Squeeze Player on old smartphones.

So far, very good. It is the last piece to complete my LMS/squeezebox installation. With limited knowledge of debain coding on my pi5, this was completely worth the $5. I recommend this to anyone installing an LMS music server and needing your internet radio channels broadcast using your phone to speakers. Thank you. 🙂

it plays from media server well.need to use another app or LMS to act as controller. it would be nice if the volume was independent from the volume for other apps running. keep my background level low.

Just works. Always has. Tho' the Droid ecosystem media playback isn't a one stop option (as iphones are) - have to run a) a player (squeezeplayer) and b) a 'control ui' (orangesqueeze etc) that gives you buttons to push - SqueezePlayer itself almost never breaks, with OS updates (wish the same could be said of API breaking changes stomping the seperate controller niche)

Pretty good app does exactly what it says, only problem I've found is it disconnects and doesn't reconnect when going from wifi to mobile network (I have a VPN that I can reach LMS through if I manually reconnect) also I've found the headphone setting doesn't respect my Google pixel buds so I need to pause myself but that's minor. As a bonus, I liked that this app can play SoundCloud from my LMS as I tried SB player as well which stopped after about 30 seconds.

Excellent app and support from Stefan is above and beyond.

UPDATE: Identified by the author of the app, the volume issue is solved by only adjusting volume using the server directly and not the overall volume on phone/device. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Fantastic app, but, like others, I'm having trouble with the volume dropping/increasing in the last few seconds of each song. It seems to depend on the ambient sound level, dropping when it's ambiently quiet and increasing when it's ambiently noisy. This is a shame because otherwise it's a fantastic app!

UPDATE: With the authors help, I now understand what is going on. The http interface (material skin) cannot get and pass volume status from the phone volume switch or from bluetooth receivers/speakers back to the server. Therefore any changes using the device's volume switch will not persist in the server. and the volume will change back to the servers setting 10 seconds before the end of the track (or when pausing/resuming or seeking within a track). If volume changes are made AT THE SERVER using a controller app (like Squeezer) or even within the material skin interface's soft controls, the volume WILL persist correctly. Therefore, as long as I don't use the device volume switch on my phone or bluetooth speaker, I will have no volume surprises from track to track. I hope this helps someone else and I would like to thank the author for taking the time to help clarify the issue. I recommend this application to extend your LMS ecosystem. Original problem: The volume changes near the end of every track are frustrating.

I really love my squeezeboxes and the LMS is still the best free server for large music subscriptions - This app allows me to listen to my music via LMS on my phone. Fantastic. However - one issue, and I cannot seem to find a solution to it - the volume drops to a low level at the last few seconds of each song, and then I have to manually increase the volume again. This happens consistently, and I have not been able to solve this. If this was solved, then a five star review. Until then, three...
