I think it could be faster but what I don't like the most is being logged out and having to log in again when you are right at the cashier paying... Also, once you log in again it puts you back to a Green level! It is very confusion because some offers are for Green level users and others are for Gold...I am not sure if there is something wrong with my account! Besdies that, it is great to be able to register your Starbucks card and reload it with auto-load!

← Back to StarbucksWorst. App. Ever. Among problems is no tie to inventory. They don't have the product but tell you they do, take your money, and send you up to wait in a long line. The store has to tell you they don't have it, then can't refund due to the app's odd way of using your card to recharge theirs instead of just tieing the card and charging it directly. Other stores where inventory is difficult just have you wait for confirmation before picking up. More, but long enough.
Very handy and love it for mobile order, but there are some things to work out. For instance, the bonus star opportunities never count all my purchases. Even simple challenges like "order 3 days in a row" never works. Usually every other order only counts, so I'm lucky if I earn the bonus stars at all. Even the new Starbucks bingo didn't count one of the requirements I made the other day. Other than that, very convenient for in store and mobile orders.
I am so disappointed in this app and how it's the ONLY way to get points! I haven't been able to log in, gives me a non descriptive error, and after talking to customer service at least 3 times, it still doesn't work. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, changing password, logging into the website (which also doesn't work), creating a new account, restating the phone, trying on my computer... Even a new account doesn't work! Because of this, I have been avoiding getting Starbucks all together!
Still a bit reluctant to tell you prices. As far as I can tell, the only way to find out the price of something is to pretend to order it through the app. Juuust before you hit "pay" they'll tell you the price. Ha ha ha, cute. On the other hand, it's gotten waaay easier to use to pay in store, and to check/reload card balances. And it seamlessly keeps track of my progress through their little weekly contests, so four stars solid.
MODIFIED: Bonus Rewards just keep getting worse!! Less and less rewards for more and more purchases!! SMH. BECOMING NOT WORTH IT TO BUY ANYTHING HERE! App works great now. Had some issues when I first used it about a year ago. It seems that has been fixed and now I use the app ALL THE TIME. Mobile ordering avoids any long waits, in and out! It's awesome.....
App has been advertising the pairings menu for days. I've tried every way I can think of to access it and nothing works. Even when I clicked from the offer within the app, it takes me to the regular menu. If I add items to the cart that should qualify, still doesn't work. I've searched on Google and there is no explanation for this issue. I assume the local stores are participating because our local newspaper wrote an article about the pairings menu. My app is fully updated. Very frustrating.
For the last few weeks, we are no longer able to see our previous orders. We can find them online, but they no longer appear on the app. The previous orders were extremely helpful as we could simply reorder a customized beverage. We noticed, in other reviews, that we are not the only one experiencing this issue. Hopefully, Starbucks will update their app so that the previous orders appear again.
The app will not allow me to reload funds to my account. It continually says "couldn't complete your payment try again." It's not a bank problem, it's an app problem. I tried adding funds through the actual website as well as uninstalling and installing the app and neither fixed the issue. Absolutely ridiculous. Think they are trying to be cheap and not have to give out stars for purchases. Time to get my coffee elsewhere.
app was working ok until they did an update last week. Now the app is not even accessible. It doesn't even show up in the play store. So it definitely does not make things 'run smoother' as they claim. It made it not work at all for many of us. I couldn't access my starbucks card to buy my drink which was frustrating. I am not even sure how to use my remaining funds off my card now. One should not have to have a brand new device for apps to work.
Update 07/21/2025 Still cannot install app or order from app. "System error". Attempted to install more than 5 times. "Sorry we're experiencing an error" for several weeks. Also empties cart when you switch to another app (for example, transferring money to pay or asking a friend what they want via text). I had to put the same items in my cart more than 3 times and then went to Funkin' Donuts. Poor quality app. I do not shop at SBux anymore due to app, no rewards, bathroom policy.
They make drive-thru orders the moment you place it on the app. so unless you do it while driving there (dangerous), your drink will be cold or melted. The employees do seem upset if you place the order right before you enter the drivethru. I once placed an order for 7 people, so it was very expensive. The drive is long for us. Every drink was beyond melted and all foamy. They wouldn't remake them. I learnt a very expensive lesson. This is an app/corporate issue, not the fault of the location.
There was an error with my in-store order and it wasn't linked to my account. There apparently isn't a way to add a receipt in the app like some other competitor's apps. I tried to chat with customer service, but that kicked me out to the website, where I entered my information, the clip feature to upload my photo didn't work and I got disconnected twice. Please add an option to upload/scan receipts, and the ability to chat from the app.
It's disappointing that they don't really do very many deals anymore. Though as far as the app set up goes...it's extremely annoying that the app doesn't let you view the menu prices of closed stores. So even if you were just trying to see the prices of what you might order the next day you can't. Love an app that's kinda useless after 8PM.
App and website have quit functioning all together. Can't find stores nearby to order from so we can't do mobile orders. I'm lucky if I'm able to reload my card on the website and pull up the barcode on the app. the website won't show the barcode, the app won't let you reload. This is ridiculous. How can something that used to work so well suddenly go to trash and STAY that way for so many months? I don't even know what my balance is half the time because that hasn't updated in 7 months.
Several times, I've ordered items off the app and gone to pick them up. What I ordered was not available because the app is not correct, and the stores can not refund me directly. I have to contact customer service and handle the transactions that way. It's most frustrating and takes additional time out of an already hectic schedule. Ordering off the app used to be convenient now (especially with all their continuous menu changes) I'm lucky if my order is even on time or available
App no longer works AT ALL without updating. New update is apparently "not available" for my device. I've been using this app for years with no problem. I still have money on my account that I no longer have access to. forcing an update I can't have is preventing me from spending money. There was nothing wrong with the "old" version.
How can an app, like Starbucks, be no longer compatible with my phone 😅 What current update did you do that eliminates an android phone that worked perfectly fine for over 5 years? Luckily for me, I still have the actual gold card to swipe and reload in the meantime while you guys fix issues. But it was handy to have the app to order online, and to see the current specials and new products. I dont go to Starbucks often, so what really made me go were the specials and possibly the new items. 🤷
Good...unless it's acting up. Randomly decides to forget biometrics and ask for a password while you're commuting forcing you to find a spot to pull over. Today I reset it for speed and 3 tries later it still said wrong password. I gave up and went to work and then ordered later successfully but had to leave work. Worst version of that issue but the password problem has happened many times.
App functions ok. But they rarely have offers anymore. They falsely advertise that they do have offers, but they are really just ads/promotions of products (which don't even align to my historical purchases) with no incentive to purchase or try. And it's pretty impossible to earn meaningful amounts of stars anymore. So...no real purpose to the app except as a way to receive forced Starbucks ads. Big time turnoff. I'll probably end up deleting it if they don't make changes soon.
