I hate to cook! Since having this app, I have cooked multiple meals. I pick up random things in the grocery store and enter them in the app. Then when I'm ready to cook, I search by the main ingredient I want to use. I've created some delicious meals I never would've attempted before this app was in my life. Plus, most recipes I've tried so far have taken under an hour to make! Score!
Reviews for SuperCook - Recipe Generator
← Back to SuperCook - Recipe GeneratorI often have leftover ingredients from various recipes that seem too random to make anything, so I end up overspending on food and then wasting it. I was making a shopping list for the week just now and noticing that my pantry is full but it just didn't seem like I had anything useful. I had an idea and googled "ingredient based recipe generator," found this app half an hour ago, and am currently enjoying a delicious lunch of spaghetti with toasted walnuts, lemon, olive oil, and black pepper!
Super helpful, saves money, gets me in the kitchen more often. I downloaded this after I moved to an apartment alone. I know how to cook but didn't do it often. Now that I live alone, I sometimes just buy ingredients I want to try and put them in the app's pantry. I've found all kinds of recipes I didn't even know I had the ingredients for. Saving me from going to the groceries as often and using all my ingredients with little waste. App could use a better UI and easier input/search system.
I have saved time trying to figure out what to do for dinner, and it knows what I have in my pantry to suggest meals for things I have on hand. You can curate what you are looking for, add ingredients over time, exclude certain things if you don't want to use something, etc. The BEST part for me is USING UP MY FOOD THAT HAS AN APPROACHING EXPIRATION! I have suggested this app to others, and they like it too. Also, to add... they have a web version to check it out before downloading the app.
As a beginner to cooking this app has easily helped me learn how to cook and be resourceful. The app encourages me by giving me a count on how many different meals I can make with what I own. I'm also able to filter recipes by meal type, diet restrictions, ingredients, etc. I highly recommend this app to anyone who wants to cook an impressive meal for the first time or who just wants to be creative with what they have. I hope you enjoy this app as much as I do.
I TELL (as in, no typing, I just narrate ingredients aloud) this app what's in my fridge and pantry, and it gives me 2,000 (filterable! searchable!) recipes, using those ingredients! Truly fantastic. Also shows recipes that I have all but one, or two ingredients for as well. If you're not great at cooking, it can be hard to see which recipes are going to work as written, but if you have some experience in the kitchen, this is an incredible source of ideas and inspiration.
I always have a hard time making recipes unless I have overflowing cupboards, but groceries are so expensive and this has really helped me stretch out our staple ingredients more. The only thing preventing me from 5 stars is that I always seem to have to go edit my pantry because ingredients will appear and disappear at random between app closing and opening again. It's so frustrating adding all those ingredients again. If I'm doing something wrong, let me know! I would love to 5 star this
To start, I do think this is a great concept and is well implemented for recipes and keeping track of what's in your pantry. The only problem I have is that the ingredient list is very limited. I cannot add items it doesn't have in its system, mostly health and vegetarian food. If there was an option to add your own foods it would be great (or at least more options). It would get 5 stars. I know my diet isn't conventional! Things unfound include non dairy cheeses and meat alternatives etc
I searched for an app that would give me recipes based on ingredients, and that's exactly what I got. The ingredient lists are broken down into categories and you can very thoroughly select all of your ingredients, sauces, spices, meats, cheeses, vegetables, grains, etc. Very thorough. Then it gives you all of the recipes you can make with those ingredients. You can favorite the recipes with a very simple sign up process. This is going to make meal planning a breeze!
Nice selection of recipes from around the web, and good features for filtering and exploring recipes. My main note is that the provided ingredient list is not vegan friendly. There are many proteins available beyond tofu, the only choice offered. By contrast, the lists for meat, fish, and dairy are extensive. I ended up having to list many ingredients as the closest non-vegan alternative, and couldn't find anything to approximate tempeh.
Loving it so far! I've been using another app called Wisk for a while, but found myself wasting food (and money), so I use SuperCook every other week now. And there's some real interesting recipes that i can try without the anxiety of spending money on ingredients not knowing if anyone will even like it. If they don't like it atleast i didn't spend extra money on ingredients. Lol Could use some MINOR ui improvements (if you're picky about that sort of thing), but it doesn't bother me.
My two criticisms are (1) the app should have the ability to add items that aren't already in the program; and (2) it would be nice to have the option to search for a whole meal (i.e., main & sides together) instead of individual parts. Other than that, I love this! I've made several great meals using what I already had instead of going to the store to get just one or two things to make something I already know.
I am on an elimination diet in the phase where I am reintroducing foods. This app is a Godsend. I enter into my pantry only the foods I am currently eating and have in my kitchen. Links to hundreds of compliant recipes come up. Would like to be able to enter a wider range of ingredients and to be able to distinguish forms (like fresh, canned, frozen, or dried), but for a free app, this is great. Saves grocery trips. Highly recommend for people who get produce or food boxes.
It's a good feeling when you start collecting ingredients and add them to your pantry tn the app and you see you have access to 2500 more recipes. It's not perfect. I hope the devs read these. Heres my wishlist: 1. History of what pages you've looked at so you dont lose your place if you close the app 2. Suggested ingredients for stuff you're missing and how many recipes getting that ingredient would unlock 3. Ability to track expiration dates and quantities as an optional opt-in. Great app!
Some of the recipes won't take you to the website for the instructions and some of the ingredients can be very broad or vague but outside of that I LOVE this app. I'm bad about remembering what I have and coming up with meals with what I've got. The app makes it easier to not only add variety to my palette but reduce the food waste from forgetfulness. I like that is has a way to make a grocery list as well. very handy. Definitely try this app for yourself!
exactly what i needed. if you are waiting on payday and need to figure out what you can cook. this app tells you all the possible combinations you could make after inputting what you have on hand. there's also great features like, it tells you how many and what ingredients you are lacking for other recipes. also useful to figure out what an ingredient is good to use for. I've gotten several ingredients given to me that i wouldn't normally use, and now i can use them.
Very Nice, I'm really enjoying the recipes. They help me be creative with my meals and they give me a starting point for building my own recipes out of some of my fav and most common house hold ingredients. A simplified guide, directions and ingredients is all I'm looking for anyway. On the websites it sends me to, I have to constantly scroll up and down to put everything together between all the extra wording. The app would elevate that if it had a basic direct recipe there.
love how easy it is to find recipies. Although sometimes it can be difficult to find new ones just due to its sorting algorithm (which prioritizes things you can make; so it'll just pull up a bunch of scrambled egg recipies sometimes), I wouldn't want it changed because I find it very helpful for exploring new foods. I don't always use the recipies found here, but I defidently use it as inspiration. I love how easy it is to plan meals as a recent college graduate.
Love this app! I hate wasting food, and now I don't have to. saving money on groceries and getting great meals: Win-win! Sometimes, recipes aren't in the right category, but there's an option to report the mistake. It would be better if you didn't have to go to the website to get the recipe and rate results. Another change that would be nice would be the option to disable "air fryer" just like there's an oven-free option. Keep up the good work 👍
As someone with food restrictions, this app is absolutely AMAZING. Just being able to not click on foods I don't eat and find recipes based only on what I can eat is... it's mindblowing. As a total foodie, it has been so difficult to adjust to new severe food restrictions. I never know what to make, and this app solves that problem completely.
