Reviews for Through the Word

Was able to access and enjoy The Bible app before even though there were little issues with it, but now with this new update asking for an email and password to enter - it's a bummer, when you populate those fields it gives you an error, and you can't get through, that bug needs to be exterminated. Miss my app! Update: Was able to get back into the app. Happy to see the progress that I had made with the Journeys are still intact. Thank you!

Been using the app for a while. Like others recently, I can't sign into my account. I'd also like to see a truly "offline" option for when I don't have a good internet connection. Although I can download audio material, the app still needs to log into the servers each time I open the app, defeating the offline capability. Great app and ministry otherwise! UPDATE They fixed several of the bugs, so thanks! Still doesn't allow for true offline because it always looks for your sign in when opened.

I love this app! The way the teachers guide us through God's Word and help give a greater understanding of each and every verse is wonderful. One question I have is, why do you have the SAME introduction before AND after EVERY SINGLE VERSE??? 🤔 This is pretty redundant and a bit irritating. Perhaps before each book (chapter), begins, and after the book (chapter) ends. But before and after, EVERY SINGLE VERSE is a bit much. I actually do my best to skip the music and voice. 😄

I really love this app and have recommended it to several people. It's like getting a mini sermon in 15 minutes out less. I have never understood end time scripture and am easily overwhelmed by it. The plan on this app had helped me, and I go at my own pace. They stick to scripture and acknowledge alternate views when possible. If you want to read a topic, a book, or whatever in the Bible this is a great way to enhance your experience.

Through the Word is my go to Bible App. The pastors give a short (less than 10 minutes) summary of each chapter before I read it or listen to it. This really helps me focus on the meaning. I think the plans are well organized. My only wish for the future would be to be able to highlight a verse and save it. Overall, Through the Word is my favorite Bible app. Thank you!

This is actually a pretty neat app; you get devotionals alongside each bible chapter and you can download the whole bible book to listen offline if you wish to. There's no premium package, it's all free and zero ads in my experience. Whenever I log in to my account from another device, I don't get to see what I've downloaded. I need to start downloading all over again. This has happened on the two occasions I got new devices. Also when downloading, I can't leave the app or it'll stop. :(

I found this app more than 2 years ago when I wanted to understand my Bible more and still use it every day. I don't have a single complaint! The speakers are so entertaining and so very well versed and educated on theology. I love how they break the lessons down, and most importantly, IT'S FREE! So many things out there want your money to teach you about God when it should be free, just like Jesus gift to us. Love this app!

Through the Word allows me to be in the word every morning while going through my morning routine. The commentary that proceeds the reading of the scripture is amazing. Sometimes the language of the Bible verse can be confusing, difficult to understand. But the commentary provides context and explanation that allows me to understand AND then apply what I'm hearing. I don't really enjoy reading so much, so this app is perfect for me and it's a huge part of my daily morning routine!

I started using Through the Word to compliment my devotion and Bible reading. As Pastor Kris would say it, it is awesome! It has really helped me pick apart the chapters of the Bible and I am able to understand them much more clearly. My only criticism is that I wish all of the books were in the Bible app so that I didn't have to download both apps separately. But that's a small concern, otherwise it works great on my Android phone.

I enjoy the app and find it nice to not only be able to listen to the Word being read, but a short explanation/teaching on it as well. However, I would change it so the passage is read first and the teaching second. Besides being slightly confused when I started using the app while trying to figure out how to just hear the passage, it is good to start with the verses (for several reasons) before the teaching on them. Thank you you for responding. I didn't know that I could change the set order.

Great app but I wish the volume was more consistent between the narrative, the intro / outro, and the scripture reading. In most of the sessions, the narrator is much quieter then the intro and outro. The voice of the woman who reads the intro and outro is a bit shrill, so the increased volume is shocking if you have reached a meditative state. It has not stopped me from listening to the app but I have started skipping the intro and outro but it's a pain.

I enjoy using this app to have virtual body study with others. Bring able to leave comments is great but the 3 minute recording is too short. Would be helpful to expand the recording to to 5 or 10 minute minimums to prevent nylon recordings and impacting thought flow to stop hit send then record some more. Also many chapters are so full leeching one comment in 3 minutes isn't enough. 🤭🤭

Love hearing the word while traveling but I had a problem after the last update. the app sends me a code but when I switch screens to check my email for the code then go back to this app, the box the code go into disappears with no option other than to abort the app. I can probably get logged in if I use my laptop email and my phone do I don't have to switch screens.

Great way to be guided through the Bible chapter by chapter! Love how they keep each chapter under 10 minutes. So it's not too long but just enough to help you learn and apply. I'm glad the app has speed playback control because one teacher (Chase) speaks too fast and I was finding myself having to go back and listen again. But I put him on .75 speed and it's perfect! Anyway, thank you for this ministry!!!

I have very much enjoyed this app. I like the concept of having a group study be audio-based. That said, choosing not to have text communication excludes or discourages some folks who may not be able to speak well, whether that is anxiety or a medical reason. Adding a text option would increase the user experience tenfold. Some want to participate but ultimately decide not to because it is too intimidating to compose a "one-take" thought in a limited amount of time.

I drive a lot and love that I can listen to chapters daily while driving, read on my own, and there's a sermon or teaching that comes with each chapter. It saves your progress as you read and finish the chapters. you can't take notes or highlight. This app is more for hearing. I think it's perfect, though. Question: How do I change the narrators voice that reads the Bible line by line?

Beginning my second journey through the word, though it has been sometimes since I finished the first time through. I honestly cant remember exactly the intro music you had before, but I liked it better than what you have now. Sorry, but I find this rather loud and annoying. Otherwise, still enjoying through the word. Thanks.

I am absolutely loving this app! Me and my friends just completed Journey 1. we're having some issues though with starting Journey 2. the invitation aspect isn't working accurately. when they try to join it's not bringing us all together again and we have to delete the old journeys and try to figure out how to get it to work. it's not simple enough and it's very frustrating! I wish there was some way that we could connect and stay connected for the entire journey series.

I love this app! I've been using this app on and off for years, and I'm so happy to see so much more content this time around! I love the ability to have virtual Bible groups with friends. The one and only thing I wish is that there were the ability to highlight and create notes within the app and the particular lesson and potentially even to clip certain audio within the app/lesson so that when you study again, you have your notes/audio clips from last time.

One of the most engaging Bible apps I’ve ever used. It offers short, clear, and thoughtful audio guides that walk you through each chapter of the Bible in about 8–10 minutes. The teachers do a great job of explaining scripture in a way that’s easy to understand while still being deep and meaningful. What sets this app apart is how accessible it makes daily Bible study. The bite-sized lessons not only help you understand the Bible, but also show you how to apply it to everyday life.
