Reviews for TP-Link Tapo

I love this app, it helps me with my security cameras, the software is great and it's relatively optimized. but I wish there was a way to manage the Shared Devices, I want it to range from just being able to see the device, to having full control over it. what I'm saying is, people who I share my device with (using the Share Device feature) should be able to change the devices settings, view the device, et cetera.

My favorite cam so far! The only thing that would make it perfect is Ethernet port, to so that it could be used with a computer! It's the best indoor/outdoor camera around for$25! Can't beat it! Just as many options as"Ring,if not more! The SD card for local storage is fully functional for FREE! Cloud storage subscription is optional, not mandatory! Ring requires a subscription to access all functions! The Tapo app is straightforward and easy to use as well! I Immediately ordered another one! 5*

Very good app. the only drawback (doorbell specific) is that you cannot turn off notifications from activity, but also keep alerts on when someone clicks the doorbell. I have one at my back door which is a right of way, I don't want to see people passing through, just when they click the button. the camera records activity regardless of this I'm hopeful an update will resolve this.

This is possibly the best security camera system I have ever invested in as a small business owner! it has all the extras as those high-tech, high end and over priced competitors out there. I ordered from this company three times in a row just to make sure I had plenty of backup security. I definitely recommend this product because you get exactly what you paid for plus more for a lot less. they've been up and running for 4 months so far with no problems. I appreciate the "Alexa" app sync also.

From my experience with other brands and cameras, this Tapo C-120 camera is total garbage! In last few months I had to re-connect my 3 cameras a dozen times! It's totally garbage! Every other week they run into some issues and disconnect from the app and I cannot check my cameras! They are not working for few days to few weeks, then I'm getting tired of it and have to re-set the whole thing from scratch again and again! Total waste of time and money! Just buy some other brand, not this garbage!

The app has some primitive features that are too limited to be of use, but more development would make them usable. For example, the app offers to track the price of electricity used by connected devices but has limitations on time of use rates that prevent entering my utility's rate schedule, the app has no way to notify you if a device stops using power for a long period (like a connected garage freezer died).

I'm sure it's a mistake that an ad pops up after a short delay where your cameras are so that when you go to click on your camera which is the only reason you would have this app you accidentally click the advertisement. I'm sure they just accidentally did that. Just like how they remind you over and over again that you can pay them to store your footage. I already paid you guys I when I bought your cameras like just make the app good I don't know why you need to try and squeeze extra money.

super annoying bug, whenever I try to click on one of my cameras with you the live feed it takes down my whole cellular data. when I'm just out of the home. me and no other apps are online anymore. it's like I put on airplane mode and it only happens when I try to view the live feed on these cameras 70% of the time. The issue is fixed when I turn on a VPN or even just tunnel the traffic of the app with something like pcapdroid.

I wish it had more device icons and a way to color-code on-grid and off-grid use. One immediate improvement they could make is to change the generic "Energy Monitoring" heading under "Show More" to the device name so we don't forget what we're looking at. The Energy and Power subheadings are sufficient on that screen.

camera is very good, easy to install and app is also very good. the only thing is that loop recording doesn't work. when I try to go another time of the day doesn't show anything. the only thing it records is detected events. so basically when you try to go like a random time in a day you just go to your detected events. so loop recording doesn't work. oh and also someone mentioned about downloading the clips. well I can't do that either, I only can screen record. I wish you fix them.

In general the app seems to work OK. It enabled quick setup of 4 Tapo cameras at my home. One problem we did have is that one of my cameras magically disappeared from the app! Neither my wife or I know exactly how this happened, but one minute it was there, and another it was completely gone. I had to reset the camera and go through the "add device" setup once again. I suspect there's a place in the app that deletes a device without a proper confirmation.

Not a good experience anymore. the app used to work well however I recently got a td12 doorbell and it constantly fails to ring my phone. the troubleshooting does not work, and I've tried everything at this point. my wife also has the app on her phone and again nothing but intermittent alerts, as if the app mind of it's own. latest issue is the doorbell rings no one is there. all directions on the troubleshooting have been followed the app is up to date as is the doorbell. really not very good.

I love the app. it has a lot of features that I like, and isn't difficult to use once you learn to use it. I can set a range with the camera's view (a subsection within the view) for the motion detector to set off an alarm, so I use it as a bed alarm for my elderly father. For example, I can basically have the alarm go off if there is motion beyond 1 or more inches from, or before the beds end. With God's help through Messiah, it can help me run to him if he tries to get up.

Review is for smart lights. App has limited capabilities. simple things like customizations for groups are not available. So if you have 4 lights set up in a hallway to provide soft lighting, you can customize each lights default colors and brightness. But for the group, only a few default colors are available, and they are not customizable. So you have to tweak each light individually. Also, it would be nice to be able to enter the value of the color so there is no guesswork as you customize.

All working good so far. Do wish it had a Light you could turn on thru the app like one of my other security cameras. Remember it needs a minimum 8 GB Mini SD card, I tried a lesser GB did NOT work Took a couple of times of setting up the "Saved " preprogrammed camera positions, 8 of those, before they stuck in the selected positions. Zoom with fingers works good. Connectivity to WiFi worked smoothly, needs WiFi that does both 2 4 GHz and regular 5 GHZ. Long cord to plug in Electric

App has its issues. It is slow to load playback, playback jumps to detected events, won't let you look at recording that's not flagged with an event. AI got less smart in recent updates. It doesn't alert to people (sensitivity all the way up), IDs birds as people. Mis IDs random objects as pets. Also in-app support is fake. It goes to a "coming soon" splash screen with nothing else on it, and been like that for as long as I've used it.

I've used the app for a month now and overall I'm disappointed with it. it freezes constantly, the controls are slow and very inaccurate. you can definitely tell it's designed to make you want to spend the subscription fee but even with the fee it doesn't impress or work well. the cameras themselves: battery drains fast and panels dont charge

frustrating!!! Automation for geofencing only only work a fraction of the time. Constant "vehicle detected" notifications about the vehicle PARKED in my garage and NOT moving. No pets or anything else in there to trigger detection. There doesn't seem to be a way to view cameras without recording. Wheni go to the support page my cameras model isn't even listed. C460. Bought 10 of these cameras. ready to send them all back and maybe try Eufy, or even go back to Arlo.

I don't recommend it if you are actually using it for security. The notifications I get are delayed sometimes as much as 3-5 minutes or more. So, for security, it's maybe too little, too late. I tried all the suggested so-called fixes, updates, etc, and nothing changed. If a person stands there long enough it catches up and then shows real time, but, again, that wouldn't help if it were a security matter. All my other equipment working through the WiFi; seems to work fine.

Overall great tool to use to keep an eye on the house. App controls are easy to figure out, even without a manual. Set up was easy and quick. Camera controls are quick and responsive. Two way communication works great. Only issue I found was with the preset positions that you can set up. Sometimes the images associated with a particular camera show up on a different camera. Example, my kitchen camera preset for the front door shows up in the living room as a preset position.
