Of all the Hazeldon publications, except maybe Daily Reflections, this is my favorite reading when I start each morning before I get into my day. I was willing to pay the fee to download this app onto my Android for that reason. I also attend a weekly AA meeting on relapse prevention where this book for the appropriate date is read and usually stimulates a topic for discussion and sharing as it relates to relapse prevention.
Reviews for Twenty-Four Hours a Day
← Back to Twenty-Four Hours a DayI recieve this message when I open the app after using it every day for 2 years. "SECURITY THREAT. 24hrs appears to be infected, immediate uninstallation is advised". I have tried reinstalling it but no change. Admin / developer please help?
App puts a alarm notification on my phone. When i click app info and force stop the alarm icon disappears. I will keep app but home you fix this bug. After a factory reboot was happy to figure out why and how to get around it.
I have been in a 12 step program for almost 4 years now, and the 2r Hour a Day devotional, always hits home. The meditations are always something I need to hear. And the question that is always at the end of the reading before the meditation, really makes me think. I am glad that this is part of my quiet time in the morning.
It would be so cool if I could add notes to dates and highlight parts that touch my heart. Otherwise I'm so grateful for the easy access this app provides with my busy life. I read each day! Another suggestion would be an option for audio.
This was a classic in book form which I've used for 40 years. Now it is handy on my home screen. It delves deep into spirituality, and reviews most of the Big Book. The daily page appears at the touch of the app.! Has a search feature. When I need help, I use this book. Most important tool in my spiritual kit.
Twenty-Four Hours instrumental in my personal recovery. I start each day with a prayer and the reading for the day. Grateful to have it available both in both book and app form. Having the app on my phone makes it available no matter where I am.
SAME PROBLEM AS LAST YEAR! WHY? PLEASE FIX. It's all fixed. Great customer service! Worked all of 2018. January 1st 2019, no longer opens. Cleared cache, uninstalled, checked Android version. No longer working. This is a paid version. Submitted support emails. Waiting...
It's 24 hours a day, which is great. However, beings I paid for it like I would a book, it would be nice if I could highlight or c&p what's important to me rather than just adding the whole reading to the favorites section.
This is an integral part of my daily mediation and prayer practice. Many days I find such relatable and relevant subject matter in context to my life and thoughts. Ive been using both the hard cover book and now the digital application for many years. Content continues to bring value again and again. Highly recommended!
Fantastic. This book of readings has become essential in my daily time with God and my AA/NA bookwork. It always seems to show true improvision throughout my day and has the ability to recenter my focus, calm the core. Highly recommend this daily read, meditation and prayer... all things that are paramount to my sobriety!
I like being able to send the reading friends that don't have the book. It has a reminder setting you can set up for any time, so if I get on with my day without my quiet time I am reminded to pause and take a break. update. still thrilled 😁
I am visually impaired and this app does not work well with my accessibility.. when the app is open and I tap it should read what's on the page but it tends to read columns or tell me that it's in column 3 your Monday column is if it's in the calendar when it's actually in the reading will try to get a refund because it does not work
This app is good for daily reflections. It has a bug in that it will keep the alarm icon always showing in the Android status bar at the top of the Android screen. The only way to remove this annoying icon is to force a stop on the app. I would ask the app author to add an option to enable / disable the alarm icon. As it currently is, I cannot tell if I've set a wake up alarm for myself.
Does what I need it to do and simply. No ads. Automatically goes to the next day, because 'some are sicker than others'. Has reminder, if I'm really scattered. Works in Dark Mode. Only minor pan is sharing function adds a bunch of fluff, so I copy and past if I need to go there. It's well thought out and designed.
A must have devotional for year round reading for newbies as well as old timers in the program. I've known many to have read this book every day until their last breath and took it with them. The app version is equally as good, but for me I like it better than the old black book because it's on my phone and that's with 99% of the time and find myself rereading through the day. A Day at a Time is also a great read as well......
I love this little book as well as the app. just a few weeks ago I lost my phone, got a new one and had to pay for the download of the app, not very cool but in today's world I need to remember where I came from and be grateful that it doesn't cost more. I struggle with changing my life but the real issue is the un-learning of my childhood drama and the way I perceived life back then, not so much learning as replacing new thoughts and ideas with my old ones from all the years past. Love the app
I like that I can select a time for the push notification(s). I like that I can swipe to the next or previous day or select from a calendar. Would like date to be part of select-all for journaling-copy-paste or add a journaling feature. Another thought....it would be interesting to have a searchable topical cross reference or index. It might take some study to develope. It could also have a reference to the step(s) that apply. As it stands, using it for a daily reflection as intended is perfect.
This was the first book my sponsor had me buy 35 years ago. If you're only going to have one recovery book this is it. For some time now I've been using the app instead of the hardcover and the app has worked flawlessly for me on my Android phone. Perhaps my download is older than those used by other reviewers but I have not experienced any alarms.
Delighted to find this app as I have been reading "Twenty-Four Hours" for many years of my sobriety. (Alas, my copy of the little black book had become quite ragged with dog ears, paper clips, post-its, obituary clippings of fellow alcoholics, marginal notes and coffee stains.) The app has not disappointed! It is faithful to the book, has an excellent search feature and allows one to save favorite readings. The only addition to this app I would recommend is a notes feature. Mike.
