Following the latest updates, it has become more difficult and less intuitive to order an Uber outside of the US. Also, many times, the fee displayed originally does not correspond with the fee charged after the trip is completed, which is obviously larger. Another issue is when finding a driver. At times it tells you it has found a driver, and while that driver is on his/her way, all of a sudden he/she dropps the job.
Reviews for Uber – Request a ride
There's always a problem when trying to request a ride with this app. Either the quotes don't load fast enough or when it do load and you request a ride, the price point is NOT the same as the price quoted but much higher. And to add insult to injury, the texting to customer service is ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!! Bring back the days of speaking with a person that can actually respond rather than an general automated reply.
the recent update actually made this app even worse, which I didn't think was possible. I can't even change my device location which keeps saying Massachusetts. I've been at my current address, Connecticut, for 18 years. I am not hacked. Fix it or I will start using Lyft. I have to do a lot of hoop jumping just to leave a tip. that prompt doesn't even come up automatically at the end like it used to. HORRENDOUS!
The map is kind of messed up. When I reserve a ride back home, it's been showing my pickup as in the back of the building. I ended up missing a ride the other day because of it and was charged and when I went to look for customer support, I accidentally pressed a tip for a ride I didn't get. I will give more stars when this gets fixed. When I've been picked up, the drivers have been great.
Whenever you use a discount, and then you tip the driver, your discounted price is replaced by the full price plus the tip. Even though I used a discount, I still had to pay full price. Oh well, at least I could complain, oh wait. There's no service for that. I would say 0/5 stars for a ripoff company, but you have to do at least 1 star to be able to post.
I really don't appreciate the apps inaccurate time frame. Example, rides are ALLEDGEDLY 3 minutes away. Confirm the ride. Wait time is 15 minutes. This happens pretty normal when it shouldn't. As well as the maps for the driver is s*(t. Not the drivers at all. The Navigation map they use is a HUGE ISSUE. I've attempted to file a complaint but I guess technology doesn't want me to stand up for things not working properly.
I reserved a ride and received confirmation through my email. when I arrived at the pickup spot, the driver and I were communicating and there was no option to "pick up now". He spent 15 minutes trying to fix the issue in the app (my reservation never showed up). there was no way to contact customer service by phone call so I messaged on social media and literally just was told "sorry our app didn't work". not sure how this app went downhill in a year.
Their service for food delivery is terrible; it's never on time, even if you schedule it in advance. Don't pay for Uber One expecting better deals. They still tried charging me $11.99 in delivery fees plus additional "service" fees. Never mind the fact that they constantly send you emails with coupons for $25 off, yet you aren't elegible unless its your first purchase ever. It's a waste of time and money.
while I use them often because I don't have a choice. they aren't the most reliable. often times stuck waiting for extended periods of time because drivers don't want to take the short ride but also don't want to cancel. knowing the drivers only get a small amount of what you charge and then expect us to tip on top of that is ridiculous. the routes are often awful and half the drivers break the law to get you where your going.
One would think a company the size of UBER would find and use top shelf programmers for something as important as their mobile app. Or at least do extensive testing on it before releasing it to the public. The program is an example of something one would expect from novice programmers. Just trying to set pickup and destination points then confirm with a payment takes many, many tries. It's a time wasting embarrassment, leaving you wondering how could they be so STUPID.
