Reviews for Upside: Cash Back - Gas & Food

← Back to Upside: Cash Back - Gas & Food

TERRIBLE log on experience. Will not stay logged in. no customer service. Most times after using it on get 1 cent per gallon. Offers are different for different users. Have saved money with it. Use it for restaurants too. Response, deleting and adding back only works sometimes. ost of the time I give up because not fighting with the app at a station.

Its a great app to get a little something back from fuel purchases. After a while those few cents do add up sadly it can take almost a year to make $100 depending on how much fuel purchases you make. You have to understand 15 cents here and maybe $1 there its going to take time. Some gas stations do offer cash back on in-store purchases. I've gotten up to $3 back just wish more gas stations offered that feature.

I love Upside! I was leery at first about putting in my card information, but there have been no negative consequences, only benefits! It's also nice to see some benefits arise from the current icky gas prices! I've cashed out for Amazon gift cards multiple times now with no issues! I also really like that when you cash out, you can choose the amount on the gift card; it's not just a flat amount (i.e. $25, $50, etc). Highly recommend!

It's great when there are offers you can use. I live in a city just outside Boston, lots of businesses nearby, but I only have a handful of gas stations and restaurants with offers. The gas station I frequent the most used to be on offer, but disappeared. I didn't even realize convenience stores and grocery stores discounts were offered, as I've never seen it in my app, but heard about it in a sponsored ad recently. 3 stars because the app works and does pay out, but surprisingly limited offers

I doubt they read these, but figured I would give some feedback. love the app, but I would change some things. its nice that you can narrow down from restaurants and gas, it would be nice to have a subsection under each to narrow down further, such as under gas having a distinction of 87, 88, 91 and diesel. I would also like to see a sliding scale of the coupons to eliminate the lower ones, allowing you to weed out the $0.01/gallon back and be able to highlight the higher ones such as the 23

Overall, it's a good app. I would give it a higher rating if I stop encountering the issue of not receiving my gas cash back. Here and there, they would encounter multiple transactions that will not go through, and all it says is "need review" or check to verify that the card is in my wallet. Which I know is good, but there is no way to dispute this. I know something is wrong when a transaction takes more than 2-3 days to get cash back.

All of my purchases are duplicating so I doubt my account will exist for long before it gets blocked. I am not duplicating the receipts/purchases but the one today shows up 4 times and my previous showed up twice! Takes forever to get past the errors in the login screen to even get to the point of selecting the correct location. Today's error just said error 7. Trying to hurry out of the way at the pump and getting that for several attempts is irritating.

It's a big waste of time to sign in, then when you go to get gas you're supposed to be able to use the credit cards that are saved in the app but have the time I have to take a picture of the.Receipt then, when I do take a picture of the receipt, they always question it and then takes a good week or 2 for them to figure it out plus all of my purchases have been duplicated

what's the point in this damn app? you barely see any savings, the offers are far and few between (have to drive ridiculous amounts to get to one of the stores that have a deal worth using), the app won't load when you get to the gas station so you can't even use the deals. and this happened THREE TIMES and I've updated the app, this is the third or fourth time since downloading maybe 6 months ago 🙄 absolutely useless pairing between instacart and this app. it literally has saved FIVE dollars

I didnt know you actually got this much money back just for going to certain gas stations at certain times...or paying inside instead of at the pump (which if you have venmo, chime, door dash, Uber cards, etc. you usually have to do anyway, or they hold a processing fee if like $100🫣)! But I literally went to the gas station 2-3 times and have almost $10 already! You can keep saving up, send it back to the card linked to your acct, or pick a gift card for just about anywhere!

This app promises a lot but drops the ball on delivery. Out of 14 transactions in 12 days, I have been credited for 2, 3 need more info that I can't give, and 9 are in processing, with the oldest being 11 days old and youngest is 4 days. I'm not sure why they can't find the transactions, there's only 2 accounts linked. I see them, not sure why Upside can't.

Still Delayed! I was enjoying this til I realized they don't list a lot of gas stations I go to. And if you miss one detail, instead of letting you fill it in, they put it in Needs Review or Delayed. And sometimes when you do have all the detail, they still delay it. My entries are delayed. This is going down a star. I referred the app to a friend and yet this has been their experience as well. Instead of it being easy to use like Fetch, you get this.

My first purchase was on 03/28. If it isn't credited within a few days, it will be disqualified, if I read your rules correctly. Since it seems I have no way of expediting things on my end, then I am at your mercy. Since you already have as much personal data on me as I'm willing to give, and collecting and monetizing that data is, I assume, how you make a significant amount of your money, it seems you have little incentive to credit me my points.

Cashing out for the first time. So far, been saving up for about 8 months. only 2 gripes: Some stations started out offering several cents back, but now only 1¢ or nothing. Also, I wish I didn't have to switch back and forth between regular and premium to see the prices for each. My daily car takes regular, my classic muscle car takes premium. it's just one extra step that I have to take any time I need to gas up the fun car. (Tip - many loyalty programs do not affect the cash back from Upside!

I love the app. I've been using it for over a year and just recently started noticing that I have a TON of offers I claimed and they say expired. That is extremely frustrating considering I go the extra mile to use the app and I'm not receiving cash back every time. Also, if there is a deal for gas and we get to the gas station and it's cheaper than the app, we should be able to update that price and still get the same percentage off. Just my opinion.

The last two updates have made this app almost unusable. What's the point of having a primary payment method if I have to switch to that method every time, because it isn't the method that comes up as the first option. (That was two updates ago). The most recent update has made it so that I can't even use my linked payment method, instead, I have to upload a receipt every time. (At least I can upload receipts again though). I'll still use the app, because I still get free money.

This is such a waste of time just to sign up. There are a lot of gas offers but the restaurants are exactly the same as the restaurants in T-Mobile Dining Rewards. There are only 6 total restaurants to choose from. There are no grocery stores available in my area too. Check the offers before you bother adding payment methods. It's a total waste at least for my area.

Recommended to family and love the app and how fast the money adds up. The only problem I have it when uploading a receipt it goes through the progress circle and says 100% uploaded, but then immediately says "Something went wrong We were unable to process your request. Please try again.", if I hit try again it immediately pops up the same error message.

New review, with commentary this time! I liked this app.. now, it's starting to piss me off more often than not. Qualifying purchases seem to process without issue lately (previously expired or dismissed often in app Activity log). Inaccurate prices are practically CONSTANT now, why should I keep using YOUR app when I have to cross reference GasBuddy, Google Maps, or someone else to verify YOU have the right price and deal on a given gas station? What happened to the 'last updated' pricing?

It's pretty much a way for stores to get a bit of extra sales. you go out of your way to drive to the locations with the "offers" yet I'm 50/50 currently on them honering the receipts. One was an issue where my card wouldn't work at the pump so I had to go in and pay first. The other I still haven't heard back on, but I'm sure it is going to be declined because it has taken way too long. Not worth the effort unfortunately.
