Reviews for Vanguard: Save, Invest, Retire

← Back to Vanguard: Save, Invest, Retire

The only reason I have Vanguard, is through work, so I have no choice. They are always several days behind the market, and are always down. Always getting "Vanguard is down, try later." Very, very frustrating. Poorly run app!! The 2.5 rating is a joke! It should be 0!Take your hard earned money and run as fast as you can from Vanguard!!

READ THE REVIEWS The app is super clunky, not user friendly. Vanguard has no difficulty taking money from your account, even after they have your money and you've verified your account they still have to "verify" your account; meaning you can deposit to vanguard all day, but you have to wait two weeks to withdrawal. I'm just hoping the don't do me like some of the other users who have to wait for a paper check. Find a better app/brokerage.

Unbelievably terrible. You don't get any of the basic functions you would get on any other trading platform app the part that bothers me is you don't even get real time stock prices there's a literally a 15 or 30 minute delay so if you go to buy a stock it'll execute at a totally different price than what you think. It wouldn't let me put in a purchase I had enough money for because it had the day prior stock price. This is unacceptable for the second largest trading platform in the world.

The new update is horrible. Within an account you can't see the realized gains (in process transactions). You are also not able to view details or edit limit orders in process. So if you want to verify your limit sale price you have to find a PC to verify. You can cancel a limit order and resubmit. The previous version is much cleaner. Limited market information. About all you see is the basic ticker data. No articles, insider trading information, etc.

Vanguard....please make a better app. This is without a doubt the worst trading app out there. You can't trade options in it, you don't get real time quotes, you have to login with a password for each sell/buy action. Seriously, who are they targeting here? The only thing this is good for is checking the rough balance on my IRA and I could instead do that on my computer. I am seriously considering moving my entire IRA somewhere else.

I opened an account 6 months ago, I had a Vanguard account many years ago, before apps were developed. This Vanguard format is not satisfactory for me, it's missing info I use daily, and doesn't format stock performance over time periods, I'm very disappointed in the app. I have investment accounts at Robinhood and Ally Bank, and they are much better, in my opinion. Hard to believe such a company like Vanguard, has such a weak app. I'm in the process of closing my account, due to the above.

Very difficult to use . It feels like a HTML page with all it's text links and small fonts. It's also a challenge log in every time. I have to reset my password almost every month since it keeps telling me I'm locked out. I rarely log in to my account but somehow I keep getting locked out. You're better off with the website than through this "app"

Horrid UI. I haven't had this on my phone for over a year so there's been some changes. This new version is stunningly bad. I actually have trouble looking up the price of a stock or ETF. Fundamentally, you have failed your first objective of providing people the means to buy and sell through a mobile device so they are not tethered to a computer. Uninstalled & disappointed.

New app version is really bad. Navigation is harder and less intuitive, the old app had a great snapshot and menu on the left. Most of my money is in a trust account. Oops, can't see those account types on the app. Basically, I can only see part of my account and that part is not user friendly. I just want the old app back!

Every single time I launch the app it says "there's a new version available" and then forces me to go to the play store before I can actually open the app. Mistakes happen, but it's been like this for ages. Come on guys, you should be shooting for frequent, small, stable releases. No excuse for leaving this kind of bug in production for this long.

As others have said, this app makes you log off (or sit uselessly on blank screen if you choose "stay") the first time you log on. This definitely happens if you don't actually log off the time previous, and perhaps occasionally even if you did. Please fix this app! Also not enough performance info and detail on when money is actually invested as opposed to just in the account pre-investment purchase (401k).

I do like that the layout is simpler than the website, but I find it difficult to do exchanges or possible on the app. I love sites that redirect me to the website for login so if it's saved I don't have to remember passwords. But over the last week it keeps closing on me when I click on my watchlist and today immediately after logging in cause of a bug so I end up using the website instead.

Literally the worst app available. It simply doesn't work and on the rare occasions that you can login to the app, it crashes and goes off. Other times when you put in your credentials it just spins and doesn't go to the website. It's a complete joke. Not very reassuring to have a financial account with Vanguard when you can't access your balances or make any transactions.

It is okay for looking at investment returns. It was much easier to use in the past. It does buggy things at times. With the last update, the app crashes the first time i attempt to log on but works the second time. It does this every time. After i quit the app, i still get a timed out message later. I only use the app to look at my investment numbers. Transactions i only do on my laptop.

What happened to this app?! Why am I being redirected to a mobile browser page to log in? The app itself should handle logins. Would be bad enough if it worked. But the redirect back to the app never completes. You're just stuck. This is crazy. You literally can't login. Or else it takes multiple tries: if you're lucky it might work (successfully login and redirect you back to the app) on the 3rd or 5th try. Impossible to give more than one star at this point.

The app seriously makes me consider moving everything into my Fidelity accounts. They don't even have dark mode which is the tip of the iceberg. The displayed information is difficult to navigate and is mostly not even good, useful data. If I want to know how much I paid for a stock, good luck finding it. Making trades can be cumbersome, it's just not intuitive. And as of this year most of my in-app transfers fail with order number being undefined and there's no way to even submit a bug report.

decent app when it works..It crashes multiple times per day and gets annoying pretty quick. Takes me about 3-4 times of crashing and logging in before the app is functionable. That's if I can even log in. Some days I give up after 4 log in attempts and crashes. As of 8/16/25 not much has changed. for the worse if anything. App still crashes after logging in most times, but now the app opens into a web browser. No idea why these basic fixes cannot be fixed.

Mostly I manage my accounts from a laptop logging in with Firefox. When I've taken rollover checks from Fidelity, I've used this app to speed deposit. This last time though … try to log in got to retrieve a code from messaging app, come back to put it in only to find I've been sent back to the first login prompt. I don't know how many times I went through this clown routine before I got in. Whew! Meantime I lock myself out: weekend. Got to wait to get customer service … Vanguard's losing cred!

I used this app for a year. Constant crashes upon login and basic navigation. Endless confirmation screens and trying to make time sensitive trades is a total headache. Today it failed to execute a market sell order and cost me a few thousand dollars when the stock dropped, and I only found out 2 hours later that it just didn't do it, with no reason given. I found other options. This app is fine if you want to dollar cost average VOO over time, but It is NOT a suitable trading platform.

The app is crashing when signing in. Based on other reviews it's happening to everyone else as well. A client owned business like Vanguard should be able to fix this issue in a short amount of time. literally get a junior level developer and have him debug the issue and he'll fix it in no time. push the update out. it cannot be that hard to fix
