this app has features that others are charging a subscription for. like a rest timer and a weight calculator. things that should just be included. it's great.
Reviews for Wendler log 531 Pro
← Back to Wendler log 531 ProGreat app for tracking my workouts. The timer is spot on and has given me a much better workout rhythm and keeps me focused. Being able to add new accessories and edit the existing templates is a good feature. So much customisable ability is great. The app developer really cares about the app and their customers. I have and do recommend it to others. Is there a chance to add "bodyweight" as an option to the weights?
its all good in pro version. An update adds feature to add exercises on days that aren't main lift days. Also see these as distinct from main lifts in calendar. Thanks for this very adaptable app that just gets better all the time. Edit.. really quite adaptable, you can make it do what you need to record workouts whether 531 or something else.
Great thus far, the app itself is pretty self intuitive and it's nice to have it calculate everything for you. Why 4 and not 5 is simply that after the main lifts all the accessory work is the same throughout the whole cycle. No randomized variety. Also, I've yet to see it.. But I know it schedules deload weeks I hope it schedule 1RM testing too. Again, maybe it does and I haven't seen it yet? Otherwise great app and we'll worth the cost to have it.
would give 5 stars but when trying to connect Google fit, it says "This app tried to access sensitive info in your Google Account. To keep your account safe, Google blocked this access." Never happened anywhere else before. all the features are awesome. edit: Thanks for the reply. Can't wait!
When I tested the free version I loved it, same as my spreadhsheet but easier to track & check off sets as I did them. But then I bought the pro & when trying to connect Google fit, a pop up appears that says "This app tried to access sensitive info in your Google Account. To keep your account safe, Google blocked this access." How do i sync it to google fit (or the newer "health connect")?
(This is an update of my previous 3-star review.) I love this app (used it more than 2 years) because you can adapt it to your workout plan within the 5-3-1 framework. After starting over with the Free version on a new phone, I had trouble later transferring my settings and record to this version. I reached out to the developer by email and they gave me the simple steps, using Back Up & Restore from Settings in the app. They also answered a previous question quickly.
Great app! You need to have some idea what you're doing to set your stats and know programs layouts ahead of time, but once you've set everything up, let the app take the wheel. From plate calculation, percentage progressions each cycle, to tracking your results and progress, it does it all.
Hands down, this is the best app purchase I've ever made. As a 35 year old who starts working out again every year or two, only to lose interest in a few months, I believe I've finally found the missing key I need to keep me motivated and following my strength goals through to the end. I've not missed a week yet, and constantly cracking new personal records. Thanks a million to the developer putting this program into such an easy to use app to keep me coming back!
I've been using this app for about 4 years now, and it's been extremely helpful in keeping track of my lifts and doing the calculations that I need to progressively improve my strength, I love the goals it gives me as it allows me to push myself and have a sense of accomplishment, and the graph to visually see my improvements over the program, would recommend
Liked it at first but have run into several issues. For instance when I select the 3-day template it includes BBB sets even though I specifically indicated I didn't want them included in the settings. Further it won't allow you to add assistance exercises to the template nor does it remember these exercises if you add them to a workout.
I've been using this app for about two years now, combined with running and CICO diet. I've lost 60 lbs and have have built solid defined muscle. The app is easy to use. I love that it keeps track from workout to workout. You can follow the routine or you can personalize (add or remove) exercises, reps, and sets. Worth every penny to upgrade to the pro version! I will credit this app for part of my fitness journey!
Love this app and the training. However, the app will not let me delete the first assistance exercises listed right after the main lifts. For example, squat day has the SLDL after the main lift and i cannot remove it or put anything else before it. you used to be able to change the order of the assistance exercises and add/remove anything except the main lifts. *Update* Assistance exercise deletion mist have been a glitch. Its all working great now. i love how i can actually customize anything.
Really made it easy to follow 5/3/1, even with tweaks or adjustments. Lots of customization that doesn't ruin everything. At first I didn't see how to add a custom exercise (farmer's carry), but figured out you just push the plus button and it gives you options to make your own. So happy to have an easy system to follow with graphs/charts and no frills.
Probably one of the best fitness apps I've used. I do have a small request! Please consider giving a custom rep scheme option in the Advanced Settings. That would make this app perfect in every way. Previously I had to use Google sheets for my programming, and record my progress elsewhere.. this app consolidated everything down to 1. Keep up the good work!
I love this app, but in my experience if you use ABA format, the percentages for the lifts are incorrect and this is consistent. I check each time week that goes by, and by large increments. The lifts for the sets are off by 10-20lbs. Not sure if anybody else has experienced, and also if it they have but while trying to run it in another format.
Very user friendly. Something I really appreciate is that you're not forced to do one exercise at a time, you can superset/go in any order and just mark when each set is complete, and it's easy to customize workouts, and new exercises that aren't already included as options, etc. So this app could be useful even if you're not using the 5-3-1 program. Also love the graphs it produces to show your progress.
Big thank you to whoever took the time to develop this app. It's pretty clear to use as far as the app itself goes. May be difficult if it's the user's first time running through the 5/3/1 program, but there plenty of resources elsewhere to explain the program. I really enjoy the customization capabilities and the option to add your own lifts and sets. You can also export to .xsl if you want to upload data to your computer. Well done!
Love how far this app has come since first using years ago. Would be amazing if I could input "custom" exercise names, but besides that it's worth it. EDIT: Thanks for responding. Yes I mean the custom additional lifts of course, not the 4 main lifts. For example, split squats, chest flys, and any machine exercises are not on the list. Just add a "custom" category where the user can input their own exercise name and it would be a 5 star app.
Been using the app for two years now, and for the most part, I really love it. I feel like it paid for itself after a few sessions when I stop and think about the time and effort it would take me to track and calculate all my numbers. Best of all, the app propels my progression forward, and helps me program more load and volume into my work outs than I probably would on my own. That said, I've always experienced a lot of bug issues with this app. If my screen is locked, my rest timer will not go off, and sometimes when I switch between apps, 531 shuts off completely, and I have to re-enter progress. It's really frustrating and breaks the flow of my workouts if I have to pause and re-enter my lifts. Overall, I think this app is amazing. I'm just crossing my fingers that some of those bugs get fixed
