app has gone down hill. keeps auto changing my voice selection so I have to change that every time I start a new chapter to use the audio. it's being forced to use "alloy" voice forcing me to think I need to be champion subscriber. annoying marketing scheme or dumb programing. figure it out wuxia. been a headache
Reviews for Wuxiaworld - Online Novels
← Back to Wuxiaworld - Online NovelsThe apps kinda broke down, i already reinstall for several times, and still cant log into my account from the apps, my connection is okay, before this i already log in into my acc, but when im try to read some novel, its cant open the chapter like blank page and took lot of time to loading the chapter. Already reinstall several times and still having same issues. Hopefully the admin can fix the apps.
It was working great. But today, for whatever reason, it's been constantly crashing whenever I click the app and try to start it up. Phones fully updated, apps full updated, cleared cache, restarted phone. Nothing makes it work. I don't know what happened between yesterday and today, but the app no longer works.
The app is garbage now. I can't load a new chapter, and when it does load, it often loads only the first few paragraphs. Ive restarted my phone on multiple occasions and it doesn't help. I've also deleted and reinstalled the app and the problems persist. You really need to address these issues because it's becoming almost unusable. New problem: now I can't even read a chapter because the app tells I need to update to the newest version to read the chapter, but no updates are available. It's bs.
I've spent hundreds of hours reading thousands of chapters on this app with almost no issues. The only issue I ever had was one of the ads flickering but I really don't care about that kind of thing. I think the app is great because it lets you read content daily for free but if you're willing to spend $5 a month it's basically all you can read on a novel. EASILY the least offensive monitization of novels out there. I strongly recommend it!
Using this app instead of the browser site adds the chapter heading and toolbar which clutters the screen and gives less real estate to the actual text that you're reading. The font and background color settings are great, but I would love it if the chapter heading and toolbar could be minimized. Will change to 5 stars if this happens. Edit: Okay wow I am dumb. Thanks for the info!
I really liked this app, stopped using it for a while came back only to find out that you can be more than 700 chapters behind on an ongoing series and still have to pay for the chapters now. It used to be that you only had to pay once you were like pretty close to catching up to the most current chapter. This is on the same level of web novel putting 90% of a series behind a pay wall and webtoons putting series they release weekly behind a daily pass.
I enjoyed this app a tremendous amount for the last few years. Spent most of my free time reading different series and finishingost of them. But now everytime i load the app it crashes. When i try to go to the next chapter in a novel. It crashes. Most time when the app loads it freezes on a black screen. Sad to say but in going to to uninstall and just stop reading these novels at this point. Im tired of all the bugs and issues that dont seem to be addressed.
This has been going on for some time now. The app has been force closing, giving an error message, and overheating my phone whenever it's running. The overheating is bad where I could drop 20% battery in less than 40 minutes, where as before I could run the app for I'd say 11 or so hours without issue. I feel there were other issues but I can't think of them at the moment.
So far, its been amazing. The ads have been non-intrusive, and they arent annoying with them like other aps. The chapter navigation is very simple, plus, it remembered what chapter i was on on the web browser, and loaded that one up for me, which was a nice touch. Plus, when you go forwards or backwards through chapters, it loads so much faster than the web browser does(my phone is slightly older and slower). Im gonna get a vip membership just because i want to support them.
I have been a subscriber for a few years now. There are minor bugs I have encountered with the app but for the most part, nothing that would cause me to cancel my subscription. I use the text to speech option a lot while driving or playing games. I don't know if it's my phone or the app, but if I am running it in the background it will close out the book I am listening to after few minutes. It's annoying but not worth removing a star. Plus it could be my phone.
Great up before the last update, but the update ruined it for me personally. I listen to the story via text-to-speech, which is really great for when I'm driving, at work, or just generally doing stuff. But after the update, I can no longer read/listen to the books offline. I also can't select a completed novel, which is what I'm paying my monthly subscription for. And the TTS function won't auto advance to the next chapter, which means I can't listen while doing non-phone activities.
I love the app, it works fine. I like the update messages and the ability to see what chapter you're on and what you're reading all in a little space. What I do not like is the very annoying load times even when connected to gigabit Wi-Fi. Which I'm assuming means it's the app. -Update This issue is no longer prevalent! Easily loads everything even in 1 bar of data, even loads the next chapter in advance if you have auto-unlock enabled!
The app has been on a slow decline, purely from a functional perspective. Load times have slowly been getting longer, reading has somehow become less performant, and ultimately the app stopped working. When binging a story (when that was still possible) my phone would become hotter and scrolling would become jittery. I need to keep closing and reopening the app. Now in the last few days my library does not load or update anymore. It's unfortunate after having been a long time reader on the site
Very functional and easy to use. Only thing I wish is that there was a way to classify our bookmarks, because I read a lot of novels but don't keep up day to day on all of them and would like to hide them to make staying current on my everydays easier. And honestly that's just nitpicking on my part. The library is all there, I love the continue where you left off function. Very well done and worth the wait!
been using the app and subscribing for years. I like most of the new changes. but the bookmark feature is annoying. when I go out of range of wifi, it'll kick me back like 10-20 chapters with the bookmark notice at the top telling me to change the bookmarked chapter. if I'm not able to use my phone at the time, I'll let it play on text to speech, but after a while, it starts trying to play 3 chapters at once, or it'll play 1 line from a chapter then skip to the next chapter repeatedly.
I'm soooooo happy Wuxiaworld finally got an app. So far it seems very fluid to use. Edit 1: Reading some of the reviews thus far of it not being intuitive. For clearing messages, the + is strange, it took me a second to think that would be where the options were, because I assumed it was a create message option or something. I'd suggest changing it to a cog or like 3 dots (like some androids have for options).
Could use some basic QoL changes, like a read first chapter/resume reading button when you're on the main page of a book, plus it's been running slow as a slug the last month or so. Edit: An update has been released since this review was posted, and the issue still is not fixed. The library and news tabs will not load, and the home page will not update. The only way to read is to go to the novels tab, find the novel you want manually, and hope you remember what chapter you were on.
This is my 2nd comment, prior it would crash every bit of time. It was annoying and used a lot of battery, but I could still deal with it. Now it can't load the library at all no matter my connection. It doesn't remember my progress, and now I'm even 50 chapters ahead of the last released chapter somehow... So there something half a**ed going on now. I'm sorry, but thus is a simple concept, and a prime cash cow, so at least do it right...
A good app. Yes there is a subscription model, but that is to protect the company in regards to copyright law. Besides, there are benefits of getting early releases and perpetual license for completed novels if you pay join the appropriate tier. My only issues are minor: I would like it to be easier to sponsor advanced chapters from the app. Right now you can only do so through the website. Also, reference links are only one way and do not let you jump back to the place in the story.
