worst experience I ever had with any app. any international call I make, just ends right after I call. I tried checking with their support team, they are not at all helpful. they won't even respond to your concern. Try some othe service provider, never use this app. I would have given negative infinity as the review if that was an option. never had this much bad experience eith any app ever
Reviews for Yolla: International Calling
← Back to Yolla: International Callingapp gives error - can't connect to the server for four days now. credit is stuck with the app and can't make any call EDIT after developer response: it still doesn't work. looking at the reviews, many have the same issue.
Initially a great app but functionality has degraded over the past few months. No longer supports SMS and calls dropped unexpectedly. Prompt response from help centre staff (or bots?) with lots of apologies but no solutions only that technical experts are perpetually "working on it." Enough is enough, I'm done.
ive topped up, and the line is distorted , the call cuts off. I cant hear the other person. the rates are cheap but the quality is not as great as other apps Ive used before. is there a way to get my money back
Asks for permissions it doesn't need and prevents you from using it unless you grant them. BE VERY SUSPICIOUS. EDIT The response is simply not true, the app simply doesn't work unless you give it access to your images and contacts you will just be sent in a permissions loop.
calls appear expensive to be honest. on android each new call sets the phone speaker to 50%. shortly into the call the screen goes off making it impossible to return without unlocking the phone again. keyboard does not stay on screen. speaker settings reset on every call. lots of problems and for me, expensive..
The app stopped working because they insisted that I give them access to my contacts and my call logs. It was stuck on a screen to adjust my permissions to give them the access and I was not able to go past it. I called customer support and was told that I do not have to give the app those permissions and it should still work. They had me reinstall the app, and it still did not work and moreover I lost the credits that I had paid for. I finally gave the app permission to access my contacts and t
horrible service. the app says it is "connecting" but never connects. I paid $8 to try to call and nothing works. The Support Team claims in the header that they respond within 1 minute 24/7, but no one responds. Seems to me the app is fraud. They want to fake it to get some money and hope many will fall for the trick.
Got this after skype disappeared, very bad compared to it. Doesn't always connect, expensive calls, sometimes credit would go away just for calling even if the person i am calling didn't pick up. Also the line doesn't ring for me but apparently the person I am calling still gets a call. also voice quality for both sides is potatoes!
There are a lot of poor reviews, but I found it easy to install and set up an account, the rates are cheap and connections have been good, so far. I have not had any trouble with ads. A good replacement for defunct Skype. Update: After two weeks and many calls I have had no problems, call quality has been good. Not as cheap as Skype, but very close.
It does what it promises. The only thing that did not work for me is that the missing custom caller id feature so whenever I call someone they are greeted with this random international number I'd have appreciated atleast the number that i've registered with to be shown on caller ID. But none the less, rates are fine. Credits doesn't expire and the call actually gets through. Good work devloper.
Just installed and used it and had no issues with the audio quality. however when I tried to pay using paypal, the app tried to take my username and password rather than taking me to paypal website. as I was desperate to make the call, I used a bank card, my bank froze my card as soon as the transaction went through and I got a message that this was a suspicious transaction. So my concern is that the app, although providing the service, May not be handling our financial data responsibly.
Cluttered with ads instead of focusing on calls. The dial pad is hidden behind extra steps, and balance info doesn’t even fit on the screen because of oversized fonts. No recent call cost info, just useless promotions. Very poor design for a calling app. that aims to place calls.
Edited review: I managed to install it after the issue was fixed, but now it lags when I try to pay via PayPal. I log in, and it loads "create a PayPal account" again. old review: I can't even confirm my phone number because it keeps saying that the codes are incorrect (they are correct, I enter the numbers from the message) and "contact support" button is not clickable
Same issue as the other reviews. I brought a paid plan to call some customer service lines, and the quality of the Yolla call was very very poor. I had to call one line 10 different times before they gave up and called my phone number! The people I was calling could not hear me! the second customer service line I had to give up and pay again for a different VOIP service. I tried to contact Yolla support but didn't receive a reply in a reasonable period of time, I would like a refund.
the worst app I used. every call I made couldn't hear the other side and the credit were rolling down. I still could not use this app due to this situation. I reinstalled it, change my internet connection and even so, I couldn't hear anything. extremely frustrating when you are trying to resolve an urgent international issue. disappointed that Skype no longer exists.
Far, far too expensive. Google voice's rates are more than 10 times cheaper. It also hung up on me in middle of a phonecall (where I was waiting on hold for 20 minutes just to get to the person) because I ran out of funds, without notifying me at all or allowing me to buy more minutes while on the call. Do not recommend at all. Save yourself the money and trouble.
No touch tones so can't use it to sort things out that require you to navigate a menu by touching a number on the pad. If there is a place for settings in the app I have not found it. Sound quality varies during the call. Often sounds like I'm talking from the bottom of a barrel. Does give the people I'm talking to a sort of a Donald duck voice every once in awhile too. Almost as good as Skype was 20 years ago. More expensive for text. Text to US cost the same as a 15-minute call.
Beware: The app's dial-up doesn't work during calls. I needed to call a customer service abroad. During the call, I was asked to enter a number for different departments. Unfortunately, when I pressed the number, nothing happened. It seems that the app has limitations as once the call is connected, the dial-up stops working. I kept pressing "1" to speak to a department but it wouldn't go through and I wasted my money buying credits for the call.
Works well when it works, but after a couple months, it took a Very long time to connect and sometimes wouldn't at all. Contacted cs and they told me to clear my cache and data. I did that and lost my balance, although it started working again. I asked for reimbursement and was ignored. After 3 calls the problem started again and they told me to clear the cache and data again, then said to reinstall the app. I asked for a guarantee they'd refund my balance and my question was again ignored.
