So here's my honest take on Debt City - Retro Life Sim RPG. I've tested a bunch of retro life sim games and this one's pretty solid. The premise is super interesting - you're in debt to a crime boss and have to figure out how to pay it off in 10 days, whether that's through honest work or a life of crime. And the gameplay loop is addictive, even if it does get repetitive after a while. And I like that there's a decent amount of choice in how you go about things. Definitely not perfect - the upgrade system is a bit of a grind and the ads can be annoying. But if you're looking for a fun little retro sim with some drama, Debt City is worth checking out.

Description

Been playing Debt City – Retro Life Sim RPG for a couple months now. It’s basically a retro sandbox life sim where you find yourself in debt to a crime boss and have just 10 days to try and pay it off. There’s a bunch of different jobs you can work to make money, like stocking shelves at a convenience store, but if that’s not your style you can always turn to a life of crime instead.

It’s got a pretty cool pixel art style and the gameplay is pretty addictive, even if it can get a little repetitive after a while. You’re given a bunch of different choices on how to go about repaying your debt, so it’s got some decent replayability.

Look, if you’re into retro sandbox sims, you’ll probably get a kick out of Debt City. It’s not perfect – the upgrade system is a bit of a grind and the ads can get annoying if you don’t pay. But overall it’s a solid little game that scratches that itch for an old-school life sim with some fun crime boss drama.
