The game is ok, typical mobile game with in-app perchases, the gameplay consists of you running around and getting attaked by enemies randomly, the fights are turned based, the story is your typical "chosen one saves the world" story. But the reason I'm giving this a 2 star is because the ads were a complete lie; they advertised a horror game and that's not even close to what this game is like. I don't recommend playing it, it's not worth investing time into it.
Reviews for Evertale
← Back to EvertaleMisinformation. I wish I would have read the reviews before I made the purchase. The ads were the only reason I purchased the game. They made it seem like an awesome horror thrill base of a very popular monster catching game. But none of that is here. Huge disappointment. I was hoping that after playing a little the story would change and match the narrative of the ads. Such a same they did this to you.
It's really good if you want a pass-time. The story is Pokemon like and is fun. You don't really get any strong monsters from it so it's not very rewarding. It's also not very long. After you beat the main story, the online story mode is completely different. Not at all Pokemon like and is just a lot more boring. My biggest complaint is the PvP game mode. The ranking is really bad right now. I never can find an even match that is competitive and fin. Monsters of same rarity are also unbalanced!
Spend your time on a GOOD mobile game, like Granblue or Azur Lane. I'd rate it higher if the summon rates weren't on par with FGO. Absolutely atrocious. Would be great if you included a pity system of sorts. The gameplay is fine, but the AI on auto is lacking a lot, on manual I have no deaths, but on auto I'm down to my last two. Also have some control issues of my character not going where I want them to sometimes. However the story is somewhat interesting and it's a good start.
Skip this game. It's kinda fun because as you start and level up, you're like, oh sweet, can't wait for this to ramp up in difficulty. The RPG side of the game never gets there. The rest of the game is stuck in auto mode. Like, you can't fight the tower or arena, you HAVE to auto it and AI is stupid. I don't get it, there are a ton of strategy elements to this, but they force you to fight in auto mode for most of it after the offline mode is done. They do give a lot of free gems though. But, NO.
The initial story is great, had the classic RPG feel. Complete that and then "Act 2" amd further is no longer a free moving open map and it takes energy to progress. This energy is the same energy that everything else uses. Normally this would be fine, but you get 300 max, and everythimg costs either 27 or 50. So very little play time once the first part of the story is completed. I never would have paid for it had I known the story would eventually be restricted play time.
In the beginning, makes you think it's Ana amazing, free roaming game. It is not. After the first act, there is no more roaming, monster catching, spend massive mana to do any anything, getting new monsters is a pay to win lottery that costs too much. A lot of potential ruined by pay to play pyramid scheme. Very sad and disappointing to many in game and many former players.
I played this game a few years ago, when it was free only because it was on sale. The gameplay was decent, the characters fun and cute. It required minimal effort or thought though, so it was always kust a time waster. I lost the app when I got a new phone, and didn't think of it as worth buying. When I saw that it was free again, I gave it another try. The dialogue and character design leaves much to be desired. While it required minimal effort before, you now do nothing. Very disappointing.
The game itself is amazing. Decent story, colorful cast, tactical battles and a wide variety of playable characters. However, there are major drawbacks. The capture system, although fun at first, becomes pointless very fast. The game is heavily P2W with ridiculously low SSR rates. The difficulty in story and events ramp up faster than the average player can keep up. Overall, you will absolutely enjoy the game the first few days to a week but that will diminish quickly if you are unwilling to pay
While I absolutely LOVED this game when I played it a few years ago, the advertisent about it being a "disturbing re-imagining of Pokemon" is WAY off base. It's a monster/ally taming game with a strong narrative but NOTHING like the advertisements. The challenge modes make you think of tricky ways to build a strong team (and reward you for learning the mechanics/following a guide) .. Just advertise the game for what it is: a fun single player game where you can challenge other players postgame.
Wow. Chapter one was amazing. There were so many cool things to catch and the graphics looked great. Then, chapter two completely changed my view on it. Not only can I not beat the boss on the SECOND chapter, I can't even properly reorder my team, and the game always finds new ways to screw me over from beating the boss each time (I find I only need one more hit but the game just doesn't want me to beat the boss ig) and the obscenely long loading screen gets on my nerves every time.
A fun game with an interesting assortment of characters to choose from. However the game requires you to use their purchasable in-game currency to acquire any truly useful characters. With this being at times overly expensive, and only given in small amounts at times large intervals, the game constantly tries to pressure you to spend more. If you're ok with playing for the long run then it's a fun game, otherwise it's a constant question if it's worth gambling for a new unit.
NOT AT ALL ANYTHING LIKE THE ADS, but still, with Pokémon and Final Fantasy aspects, it's pretty good. Cloud Data is... unreliable, to say the least. Actually, it doesn't work at all, so you have to keep track of your save code. It's got great character design, fully voiced story, 8/10 for plot... Still probably one of the best games of the genre for mobile. No in-game ads! It also goes on a flash sale and becomes free! There's a lot to do, a lot of characters, and users can interact! GG!
I would give this game a good review, but for as long as it has been around, the lack of mercy from the devs is lacking. All of the good content is locked behind purchases (with real money) and the difficulty of battles rises far too fast, too soon. You will feel like a peasant, struggling to make heads or tails of how to be successful in this game while the whales thrive. The gacha won't even offer decent units through events or special offers. 1 star.
I really want to like this game. The art is really good with new content released frequently enough. The gameplay doesn't have too much of learning curve and even early on the battles are challenging to win. My issue is the pay structure. In particular, there is one item in the shop that is meant for new players but can only be bought with real world money. That's fine. But because you get so few gems when you use real world money, you would have to spend $24!! I'd like to see this changed!
Overall the game, story, and mechanics are fairly mid. The fan service is turned up to 11 so if you're looking for a game with soft core porn avatars then this is a game for you. If you want a game to play for it's story or well made characters and development then this isn't what you're looking for. I dropped it shortly after reaching lvl 100 as it's very P2W focused, compared to other gachas, and intrusive with its notifications, which are required to be enabled for dailies.
The ads are false advertising, it's nothing like a dark pokemon game. If you have money you don't mind blowing on a mobile game, it's fun. If you don't have money though or are easily addicted to spending money, stay away. This game is designed to give you a taste and let you complete the first act without much effort, but quickly becomes a wait a day and play once or drop 30-50 dollars a day to actually progress within the game.
The story and characters are great. The music is great, the artwork is great. The gameplay is fun. Then you very quickly hit the pay wall. They're prices are very greedy and steep. Not worth the investement since the rewards are very small. Everything slows to a crawl unless you start shelling out money. The summon rates on their gatchas are atrocious and abusive. They started out great and lost their way. Its P2P all the way after the intro.
Okay, not I was expecting but, it's nice for a start. Heads up to the newbies, there is a lot of nudity showing. I thought this would be similar to pokemon but, it isn't. It's similar to Puzzle & Dragons, except they actually got a storyline that has a main character you represent and a forge. Sadly, I couldn't go into too much depth since it eats up too much of my storage. On the plus side, no ads! Anyway, good luck adventurers!
It's kind of a bummer that it's a pay for game with such heavy monetization, but the game itself is pretty fun so far. but don't be fooled, it is a gotcha game through and through. if you think catching wild monsters will get you through, you are wrong. Repair for a game like all the rest out there, pay to get better monsters, just without the constant ads like others.
