I've tested a bunch of vehicle sims and post-apocalyptic games, and FAR: Lone Sails is one of the more unique and polished ones I've come across. The atmosphere and world-building are honestly top-notch - I found myself really immersed in the story and just enjoying the meditative act of keeping my vehicle chugging along. The gameplay loop of maintaining and upgrading your ride is satisfying, but it can get a little repetitive after a while. Still, it's a great change of pace from the usual survival/base-building stuff.

Description

Been playing FAR: Lone Sails for a couple months now. It’s basically a post-apocalyptic vehicle sim where you have to maintain and upgrade this crazy machine to survive. Pretty cool concept, kinda like Mad Max but without the zombies.

Here’s what you do: You gotta keep your vehicle running by managing the fuel, temperature, and other systems. There’s also cool stuff like sails you can use to harness the wind. And you get to explore this desolate world, finding ruins and artifacts that tell the story of what happened. It’s a really atmospheric journey, you just sort of cruise along and take in the scenery.

Look, if you’re into artsy, story-driven games, you’ll probably dig this. It’s not perfect – the progression can get a little grindy at times – but overall it’s a pretty solid experience. Worth checking out if you want something a little different from your usual strategy or survival games.
