Upgraded to a new device and lost everything, because save data can't be transferred. Something should have been done about this already, but clearly there won't be after this much time has passed. Great game. Great port. But losing everything when changing devices is a thing of the past.. just not for this game. It pains me to give a 5☆ deserving game a low app rating for that.
Reviews for FINAL FANTASY TACTICS : WotL
← Back to FINAL FANTASY TACTICS : WotLExcellent modern version of this game. From someone who still has the original PSX game, I can say this definitely brought back nice memories. Some of the text has changed, for instance: Ramza's initial skill, 'Guts' has been renamed 'Mettle'. Most of the other skill trees have been renamed as well, I imagine. The game runs a lot faster and smoother than on the PlayStation, and the cutscenes in-between are a welcome addition. Also, the ability to skip the 'long and grueling text over still images' cutscenes, and any dialogues at all is also fantastic, as I'm sure I will be playing this game over and over. All in all, a great throwback to one of my favorite games in the FF universe. If you played it then, play it now!
Hands down, my favorite FF game of the franchise, also one of my favorite games of all time. Unfortunately the mobile port doesn't work well with android phones. I repeatedly lost chunks of game data when my play was interrupted from phone calls or when my phone switches into battery saver mode. Game requires constant attention to the save function, but it is one of the greatest games of all time. TL;DR Great game, app can't be interrupted.
Fantastic game. The original Tactics has always had a special place in my hear from the start, with the re-release of WotL, I fell in love again. The story is fantastic, the gameplay is marvelous. The only issue I have with the mobile version is, and I'm sure I'm echoing this, the lack of controller support. If this was playable with a controller, it'd be 5/5. As well, and this could be my phone, it seems a little too exited to press some buttons sometimes.
I love being able to play FFT on my phone, on the go. Recommend this to anyone who likes the original. I read reviews complaining about touch controls, but I think it's great considering the limitations of a touchscreen. Sometimes I accidentally select something I didn't mean to but it's not a big deal, you can undo in most cases. Confirming things just by tapping the screen was a good design choice. Only complaint is auto-save doesn't always get recent changes but you can just load save data.
I give it 5* simply for the fact I can play it on my ph. I truly love this game. It was this, and Legends of Dragoons. Story is good and fairly complex. Speed running this game, is amazing. Overall, this port is very good. Just save often. The only bug I've found is with the switching of apps. If you don't switch back within 3 minutes (it can range from 2-5 depending on the phone). The game will black screen and be restarted at your last save. The online support and resources are unreal. 9.8/10.
I just got the game. I figured out the save issues. When you go to load, it says it was paused and to continue. Say cancel and go into your last actual save file. If you don't do this and continue from a paused moment, that could be before a recent save and you will lose progress. Ever since I figured this out, no other issues. Unless it crashed before your save, then maybe say yes. I are smart. Lol. Great game!
The original game is my absolute favorite game from my childhood. Bringing it to my phone when all other ways of playing it again have failed is truly a blessing, and with quality of life changes to boot. The new dialog is weird, like a mix of Shakespeare and some other kind of proper old English. If I read "Mayhap" again I might lose it. But the good thing is you can skip all the dialog if you dont like it. 10 out of 10 would train to 99 without leaving the first chapter.
I loved this game as a kid and have played it many times as an adult. I purchased it on Android because I knew I'd love it. I love the updated translations and better controls and the cutscenes. But after the first prequel battle (the second of the entire game), I saved and quit, and now the game won't even begin to load. It freezes on that opening blue-grayish screen. Please fix. EDIT; Game WILL run on wifi only now but my data was completely lost. Very disappointed.
Edit: 7 years later and still no cloud save, people still have crashing issues and save/resume feature leaves a lot to be desired. Biggest feature we need is cloud save! The amount of time put into this game means I need to transfer my save to a new phone This is by far one of my favorite games of all time. Too bad I can't really enjoy it when it crashes all the time making me do things over. Battles are not short! Please patch this game and while you're at it support immersive mode. Thanks.
This is one of my favorite games of all time, and although the mobile port is decent, a fair portion of content from the PSP version (War of the Lions), the version this mobile port is representing, is missing. On top of this, compared to the PS1 original, the sound quality is really hit or miss - mostly a downgrade. The controls work well for mobile! This is my favorite tactical game, so if you're new, please consider checking out the series, especially the other versions (PS1/PSP).
I love this game! This is one of those games you can pick up years later and costs nothing. I played this game when it first came out decades ago! There is no other game like this that I know of. Hours of game play, that you need to use your brain for! 20+ years later still fun to play and develope characters. Some updates could be due though. It is a little weird that you can beat game without unlocking all the jobs. Intercise in midnight depths needs some work as you can't select every tile.
Absolutely love this game, have ever since it came out for the PS. I've bought an untold number of copies, including the mobile version, and am still waiting for them to make a PC Steam Port! Please Square-Enix! I would definitely buy again. Like other users have said the controls are a little janky here and I would prefer to use a controller such as I can with Steam. I love how you can grind to level 99 and get amazing gear before you go to Dorter Trade City for the first time!
I've always loved this game. Although I didn't play it on the ps1, I put lots of time into the psp version and the apk version. I didn't beat it until recently so fair warning there is no new game plus. The class system is amazing. There is so many combinations it's unreal. The story is amazing and really drawing. I recommend 110%. If you're on the edge about getting it, channel your inner Shia LaBeouf and, JUST DO IT!
Great game and good job porting it to mobile. However, there are two big issues. 1st is no icloud saving. If you break or lose your phone, you have to start all over. Second is poaching. Please add it starting in chapter 1. For starters, if you do break or lose your phone, you have to start over. You won't have the new game + poaching anymore. Also, the fact that you can learn poach in Ch.1 but can't use anything until Ch.3 makes poaching some monsters and items 100% pointless.
Great game as a childhood, and as of now on to go mobile is awesome. I still give it a 5 stars. Even though this is a legendary game, it has many things to work on with mobile. There is no need for the data save/load option in this game because it automatically saved everything you do. I accidentally spent a large jp on a skill and tried to reloaded to find out that it automatically saved already on the 1st slot. Bug in me? Also, there is no cloud save like everyone need. Great game though.
One of the best games I ever played back in the day. The fact it got ported to mobile devices took me by surprise. Running it on a Galaxy A23 as if the writing of this comment, it runs great, looks great, and sounds great. I'm only giving it a 4 star rating, though, due to lack of cloud support for save files. Change your phone, and you're starting over.from the beginning
66 hours...66 hours I've put into this game so far... And only just now did I learn I could swipe right on the options menu to lower music and sound. I tend to play with YouTube or Twitch in the corner, and the game would often drown out the music.. For the actual game itself, AMAZING. I've attempted this game several times in the past, but would always lose interest or get busy with life. This time the game has clicked for me. I'm in the post game right now, just maxing jobs. I'm hooked.
Get the PSP version and use the "fan patch" that fixes the animation slow down bug if you want to play with a controller, I'm sure you can figure out how... The touch controls are functional, but figuring out the gestures (which are much better than just tapping everything) is easier said than done. I suspect this won't get controller support in order to make the other certain other versions of the game more appealing, this would be my recommended way to play, if it had controller support.
Touch controls work fine. I have no problems with the game. Some animations do run fast or slow but nothing game breaking. The battles are long and the only way to save is outside of battles. I am able to hit home button, back key, power button, and reopen game back up with no problem and the game is in the same place when I left it. I not sure what everyone is talking about losing their place in battle when hitting a button and the game going to title screen. I haven't come across that issue.
