Cute geckos and fun gameplay, but the timers ruin it. Levels are way too short for a puzzle game, and when time runs out a giant “extend timer” button pops up—costly and too easy to hit by accident, with no verification. Coins are scarce, boosters feel useless, and the frequent “hard” levels are nearly impossible without spending. It could be relaxing, but instead feels like a cash grab. Fun but super frustrating.
Reviews for Gecko Out
← Back to Gecko Outanother down vote! so hard. can't win unless you know exactly where everything goes. like playing the same level 25 times? its fun, but sometimes too hard. it would be better if there was a no timer mode. I just want to solve the puzzle, not do it as fast as possible to beat the timer. zen mode. please. make it. get rid of the timer. it just gets harder the longer you play. if I could find another game like this that wasn't as focused on ads and micro transactions, I would delete this.
GREEDY COMPANY! Fun game, I'd spend money on it, but the ads make it unusable. None at first, but once further in, there's ads after nearly every level. If you watch an ad to get a life, more often than not it's for "Mistplay", and those ads completely break the game. It's usually a black screen, but sometimes there's a loading screen that gets stuck, and there's no way to close the ad without closing the whole game. I won't spend money on no ads, since I'd still have to watch them for lives.
It's smooth. Easy to learn. However, I noticed something... strange with the profile pictures. I don't like to make assumptions, but they look like they were generated using AI. I only say this because they are strangely inconsistent, with most of their eyes looking in random directions, one even having much larger eyes than the rest. Most of them have varying shapes and sizes of "eyebrows". Don't get me wrong, I like the game! But you could at least have added photos of your in-game geckos.
I actually enjoyed this game a lot the first day I played it. Fun puzzles, nice level of challenge, optional ads if you want more coins, and the ability to pay for more boosters. The next day I opened the app and suddenly there was an ad after just about every level whether you wanted the extra coins or not, ad banners at the bottom of the levels, and it was just annoying and intrusive. When you offer all kinds of in app purchases, using intrusive ads for your monetization model is just low.
This is a fun and challenging game. The ads are over quickly and don't take a bunch of clicks to get out of. I'd give this five stars if we could get rid of the timer or have the option to turn it on or off. Some puzzles are too challenging to solve in the allotted time and with the minimal lives given. This would be a lot more fun without those caveats.
I Iove this game and play it often in my free time. Sometimes I get stuck and have to replay a level repeatedly, but it is beatable. I find this game challenging and more stimulating than most puzzle games- I actually sometimes take screenshots of levels to strategize when I know a level is difficult/have replayed it many times. It's playable without internet. I reccomend waiting to start the 'race" event for when you unlock a new feature. current lvl: 621
Thought it would be a cute little puzzle game, super stressful and just keeps getting harder, stacking obstacles after obstacles. No option to turn the timer off either. For me it's a 1/5, only because the art is cute, but I know some people like that stuff so I'm giving it a 3 instead.
I originally gave five stars because it is a fun game. It quickly turns into a money pit. You get 40 coins if you win. But if you lose, it's 900 coins for an additional 20 seconds. It eventually gets to the point that you can't win the game without having coins to keep it going. My granddaughters would have loved this game (when it's easy, in the beginning). I even paid the extra to be able to play commercial free. That was a complete waste.... I'm deleting the app.
this is a great puzzle game! I'm only giving it 2 stars though, because of the pop up that comes up when the level finishes if you haven't completed it in time. A screen pops up lightening fast with an option to spend 900 coins to continue the level for 20 more seconds. The number of times I've accidentally spent those coins because the level finished, and i didn't even have time to pull my hand away is insane. I would much rather have a second screen pop up asking if I'm sure...
This app was awesome and I really enjoyed it! Unfortunately, it has some malicious ads popping up during gameplay (their "normal" ads only happen between levels) and forcefully trying to open new tabs in Chrome. It goes away very quickly, but if you go to look at past apps you've been using, you can still see the window on Chrome (although it disappears when you actually select Chrome to go into). I enjoyed the game, but not enough to knowingly open myself up to malicious ads.
fake ads show a retro style maze game. one gecko, one exit, big map! The actual game is lots of short geckos on a small map and each one has its own color coded exit. just like block out, same game one core game play element tweaked, same.exact.forumla. around level 40 it starts getting challenging. By level 70 the limited time becomes the hardest part. i would rather pay 1 time for the game and turn off the lives and timer. as is, I'm done
its very difficult to earn any of the things that help you beat the levels and the cost to PAY for extra coins or help things is more expensive than other games. you literally have to play some of the hard levels 20+ times to figure out how to beat them and you end up having to pay money to beat some of the levels. I am Uninstalling this game.
the purchases in this game are fraudulent. boosts that you buy are temporary but not advertised as such. when you lose, there's a "watch ad to continue..." and a "remove ads" button in the same display. seems reasonable in this context to infer that paying $$ to remove ads will grant you the ability that watching an ad would have. Nope. it did absolutely nothing. really scammy game. do not use, definitely do not give them money for another scam!
FALSE ADVERTISING! The ad I saw for the game was this big labyrinthine setting with one incredibly long gecko and you had to try to wind it through to basically untangle it enough to reach the hole. THAT is the game I wanted to play. Not this multi-colored gecko bs. I will never understand why you game companies make ads that aren't the actual game. Yeah, you get the download, but then the players realize the lie and uninstall like I'm about to do.
fun game. I don't mind watching adds for power ups but what really upsets me is when you are forced to stop playing or spend money to complete the game. eventually you get to a level that you can't pass with out power ups because you are given very little time to pass the level. you get free power ups for completing levels but eventually they run out.
It's a fun game and everything but I hate it that it's time Based. The puzzle are already hard when you go up a higher level and just in my opinion I feel like the time is not needed and even if you do buy the booster to help you I just feel it's just a waste of time cuz there's some levels are extremely hard you just run through your money just to complete a level
This game was really fun until I got to the levels that are literally impossible to win because the timer is too short. Even with multiple powerups this level doesn't provide enough time or room for maneuvering. And I'm not paying a dime for more cheats. If you can't complete a level without paying cash then your game is a scam and lame.
Loved this game. It's entertaining and challenging. Deleting it at level 697 unfortunately. The last few levels have been impossible, and as someone who has played almost 700 levels, I don't say that lightly. The last 3 or 4 levels have all drastically reduced the time given to complete and with so many variables, it's impossible to win without boosters and boosters cost money. I don't mind buying boosters occasionally but I won't buy them every level. Fun while it lasted though!
This game WAS enjoyable but it seems like an adjustment was made to seriously up the in-game purchases and it's now frustrating. I shouldn't have less time than what the timers on the geckos with bombs have (unless there's a gecko to add time... then it would make sense). As is, I'm at 537 and the time allotted on it is less than the bombs add up to. Sure enough, there's a tutorial that shows MUCH more time for the level. I get wanting payment but come on, this is ridiculous.
