the continuous powercreep is annoying, mainly because it makes me bored in using older characters which are the only ones I have, and the new characters that I don't have have more interesting gameplay which is unfair. The current main quest is kinda boring and I stopped doing it because it's quite long. overall a 5 star if it weren't for the powercreep... and also the lack of new four star characters is notable.
Reviews for Honkai: Star Rail
← Back to Honkai: Star RailThis game is certainly better than a lot of competitors, but it has drawbacks. The power creep is there. It feels awful to try and get a character you really like only for that character to be outclassed 1 patch later. The enemies in end game content are becoming increasingly difficult with high hp and damage that older characters have a harder time clearing. A lot of characters have useless eidolons, they don't make enough male characters, and they are not f2p friendly with 4 stars. Do better.
Game looks good visually, but is not worth your time in the end. This game focuses way too much on "teams" instead of individual characters. Meaning that if you like a specific character, but don't necessarily like the "team" that the developers intended that character to be played with, you'd be better off just not picking up that character at all, because their performance will likely be drastically reduced outside of that team. I won't even speak on the horrible monetization practices.
I've been playing since launch and my overall opinion on this game is mostly positive. My only problem is from the recent version, specifically on how the game plays out the main story of amphoreus. Each new trailblaze quest has at least 6-8 hours of characters talking, and 15 minutes of those are cutscenes. The devs could honestly shorten the dialogues if they just animate a lot of that stuff. The story and concept is good, I just wished the devs knew how to execute it properly.
There's increased uncertainty in my excitement for the game now. Power creep is inevitable, but the constant pattern of 'needing' certain characters to ensure other characters work well to gain maximum rewards for challenges like MoC worries me, as do the uneven amount of time needed for meagre rewards in some puzzles. The dialogue, while improved from the last version, still feels a little clunky. Hope for more improvement in the next version.
The storylines are really good, I admit they're quite dialogue heavy but I enjoy the lore, especially for Penacony and Amphoreus. I wasn't keen on turn-based fighting at first, but now I really love the gameplay! During the boss fights, the cutscenes and OSTs really make the experience! Character designs are perfect, with great fighting styles. Grinding is pretty easy and doesn't take too long. I only started playing a few months ago and it's already one of my favourites - second only to wuwa :D
I really enjoy this game. I've never had to spend money to keep up or get many of the cool characters I really wanted. The main character is so silly, too. It's a very mobile friendly game, plus I can generally play pretty casually but still keep up. I came from Genshin Impact first, but it became too much for me to keep up with as my career demanded more time. Star Rail has been a great alternative.
a game i've really enjoyed since day 1. solid story telling, great characters, and it's a game that works really well on mobile due to its combat mechanics. it's low maintenance and easy to do dailies too. plus, even though it's a little picky, it does support controller input which makes it easier to enjoy the longer story quests since i don't have to hold the phone for hours. The lack of a Mac version is disappointing though.
Excellent graphics, amazing story, solid game play and great soundtracks. I understand the concern of powercreep, but it's basically inevitable in this type of games. When so many people are asking to skip the story (which would take off most of the part that makes this game so addicting), how else are you supposed to sell charachters? On the other hand, the developers are already doing a great job in balancing things out. Maybe a couple more events per patch would be great.
I love this game so much, but it's just so laggy. It's a fault on my end due to having barely any space and using an android. the characters, the story, the everything is amazing. honestly, there aren't many male characters, but I'd rather have less amazing male characters than just some bad ones they put in for the people who cry about too many female characters.
people complaining that they can't clear end-game content in its entirety, dont comprehend you aren't supposed to be able to do that, and thats ok. You are not missing out on ANYTHING of value. Other end-game content, such as simulated universe, are made in a way that you can clear it free to play without issues. And if you are bad at strategy, go and watch a youtube video. They also have the highest value and the biggest amount of rewards out of any game mode and are a ton of fun. SYBAU yall...
Initially an enjoyable game that's surprisingly engaging for being turn-based. The story and music is good. Its shortcoming is in its gacha and balancing where characters are no longer playable in JUST a few months due to powercreep. Enjoy the story, hear the sounds it has to offer, but saving and spending on the gacha to support the devs for a character will be disappointing.
Played this game since launch. I play on both mobile and PC. Mobile controls are pretty intuitive and easy to play. The story is pretty detailed, with in-depth lore and likeable characters. It doesn't push you into in-game transactions and the game is absolutely playable F2P. (Even 4 star characters are pretty good). It can be a grind to max out character materials, but if you play a little daily like me, I haven't found any issues. There are plenty of tutorials online to build characters.
I can say this. The game has its highs and lows. As many people complain, they have really heard the people's complaints. About adding a skip button and by rebuffing the old character're really trying their best though there are still some areas that I feel like could be adjusted i feel like our 4-star character should be given a little bit more love. Even though they are 4-star characters they should get an a+ because they're very useful when it comes to not having five-star characters's
I started this game around 3.0, and it was very fun. I enjoyed the combat, team building, strategy, exploration, and story. It was rewarding figuring out how to beat end game content for the first time. But now I cannot beat the same content that I could months ago. The enemies' health pools continue to grow while my characters stagnate. It's frustrating farming relics for months and being in the sample place you started. I really enjoyed this game, but now it's starting to feel like a chore.
A lot of reviews complain about the cutscenes. They recently added a skip button (with a brief summary of the dialogue portion as an added bonus) and it's a STORY GAME. If you're not trying to soak up every bit of lore, are you really playing it to its fullest? Beyond that, the combat is simple enough to be easy to pick up, with characters and team building detailed enough to take some thought. 100/10 game
It was great in the earlier versions, but the game has reached a point where you're required to pull for and build the latest meta teams in order to clear content, as older characters become obsolete as the versions progress. you can no longer enjoy playing your favorite characters as they're incapable of dealing the necessary damage to defeat enemies in newer content.
The good: Weird, philosophical storytelling. Good music. Doesn't mind letting its characters be goofy, especially in event stories. Excellent animations for ultimates and cutscenes. Voice acting is generally well done. The bad: The higher tiers of the end-game modes Memory of Chaos and Apocalyse may become inaccessible for free to play and light spenders. More archetypes are being released, so building a specific team may take a long time with the rotating banner. Gear grind gets old.
My absolute favorite game. Each update improves it a bit more, at least in my opinion. The characters are fun and engaging, mostly. Even things I don't personally like are minimal enough I don't have to think about them too much. The lore is intresting, characters we haven't even met yet have established personalities and some even have dialogue. Like Diamond for example. A great game, my top obsession.
There are many mobile games that fall behind their PC counterparts and competition. This is not one of them. Exploration is easy, and being on mobile doesn't make it unnecessarily difficult. Each battle and puzzle you complete is up to you for how fast you want to go, while also putting up a great challenge. Not the mention the outstanding story, characters, and world building. It's extremely immersive and compelling. I play this game because I love every single thing about it.
