The game is fun when they let you play it, players use to be able to get by with just being free to play or buying the occasional boost here and there. Now it seems to be all focused on forcing players to pay for overpriced character shards to make any progress. Too many new characters are being released on top of one another, usually behind a paywall that means average players can't keep up. With all the new characters being pushed out, the quality of the game is suffering.
Reviews for MARVEL Strike Force: Squad RPG
← Back to MARVEL Strike Force: Squad RPGBeen trying to login into my old Scopely account, tried everything, and yet while it seems like everything is fine and loading, it takes me back to the main hub and still have the beginner's hub. It also irks me so bad that for old players coming back that you aren't able to skip the intro scenes and gameplay at all! Ive wasted like an hour trying to figure out how to sign in to my old account again because they decided to not give you the option to skip all that and sign in right away.
Honestly, as someone who's played for a year and a half-ish, the game has gotten significantly better recently, newer characters are far easier to unlock, and you can unlock them way faster than you used to be able to (where you'd often have to wait months to get the newest characters and teams unless you were willing to spend) Though scopely definitely does still struggle relatively greedy and overpriced micro-transactions, but it's gotten better than it used to be
This game was fun around 2 years ago. Now they have made it completely obvious they do not care about their long term players. There's nothing to look forward to. Nothing exciting. The only way to get anywhere is to spend money and the game is ridiculous expensive. There's 2 passes a month that cost $20 a piece. I refuse to spend money on a game that I'm not having fun on. The game store doesn't even make sense anymore. Anything anyone needs from the store cost currency that impossible to get.
Still bottlenecks on gold and materials. Stupid low drop rates on every single needed item, it's like the game purposely and automatically blocks you from getting things you need. You'll be stuck needing one last piece that will not show up at all in game or in orbs, but it will certainly show up for purchase, for months. You'll just constantly find yourself stuck, all the time. At every point. I'm a nearly day 1 player, that teeters between f2p and spending $25/m and I still don't have Prof X.
So far, so good. I haven't hit the pay wall yet, but I know it's going to happen eventually. Just reached level 10 and I'm loving The Thing; the guy hits like a truck. I also have 3 of the Sinister Six members and can't wait to recruit more. All in all, a very solid game. A much easier launching off point for new players compared to Marvel Snap.
Unironically f2p friendly to an extent due to whaling being too expensive to begin. The combat is unironically addictive, the EXP system can feel a little slow at times, but overall you're never really "out of content" as they keep putting more out so quickly. Only real complaint are resources, gold and training materials are a slog to gather later in the game, you even addressed this with a login bonus but that was only temporary.
They are about to introduce FULL pay to win with overpower. STAY AWAY. play a different game. Marvel Bottleneck Force is more accurate. If there is a resource they can squeeze you on they will do it, gear, training, gold, iso credits, time, energy, character shards. Not to mention prices are absurd. This game needs an overhaul to be worth your time. PC client when?? danger room wants you to grind for 8+ hours with a clunky slow UI.
over 3 years I played this. level 41. followed the instructions to sign back in becuase of an "expired account". Now I'm stuck at a level 2, all my villain and heroes forever gone. I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later, this is a live service game after all. edit: I'm not signed into a different account. I followed all appropriate troubleshooting and support options. My account has simply vanished. I've never made or used a different account in my life. thanks for pretending to care
You are constantly dependent on huge amounts of gold for any advancement and given very little. It is extremely boring having to collect and wait over and over again for days to make a single small advancement. Gameplay is repetitive, another turn based game where new characters you actually want are pay to play. I can't find a reason to play this anymore.
Very impressed. Was expecting your typical cash-grab, with lots of barriers to progress to force you to buy items. However, the devs are extremely generous with rewards. As long as you're playing, you are progressing. I started maybe a month ago, and just reached level 75. Plus, there are tons of characters (almost 400, if not more), and figuring out all the different synergies and seeing who works best together is lots of fun. I've always been a Marvel fan and you can tell the devs are, too.5*+
Game is a pay to play now. Final milestones can only be achieved through purchases? Are you kidding? I understood when you had to fight hard for them, and a lot of the time you wouldn't get them. Now you can only achieve them by purchases. The game play has worsened over time. Saturday War has once again been taken away, and the "Danger Room" (Which is really just a rip off of DC's Darkest Time Line) is practically unplayable at certain junctures. Game is dying because of it.
It feels like you require a high level to really experience the game, though, so that's a bummer. Beware of the prices!! 3.5/5 2025 Update. The game has been overhauled for the better in some aspects and for worse in others. All unique currencies being converted into 1 single currency was a bad idea imo. combat is very engaging. However, some characters still don't even look at the enemy team when attacking, which breaks immersion. The game is a lot of fun till you run out of materials
Super laggy (consistently takes 30 seconds - a minute just to start). Also, I've only been playing for a day and the game has already crashed twice. Also, they changed it to where you have to have a scopely account to redeem rewards (WACK!). Otherwise, pretty fun game (so far). If it weren't for all the glitches and lag, I'd probably rate this game 5 stars.
Could be great but.. Annoying pop ups for p2p offers constant. Nearly impossible to connect your account to Scopely. Hard to play longer than 10 minutes without crashing! The worst thing is the game slowly becomes EXTREMELY p2p. Around level 75 or 80 you are going to hit a brick wall. You either shell out $20 a day or wait for weeks to get enough resources to advance 1 or 2 characters. I have NEVER played a game more greedy. $5 gets you very little. $20 to $100 may get you enough for a day or 2.
Great game but no skill & level resets, so if you make a mistake you can't change it. You can't even delete your account and start a new game easily. You have to contact them, then wait a whole month, and make sure you check your emails or they won't do it! There are some balancing issues or updates needed because some teams are way overpowered then others. Has some of my favorite heroes and villains but putting them together to actually be viable doesn't work, you must match team titles.
I've been playing this for a couple weeks now, and I'm really impressed. Yes there's a lot of monetization going on, but even f2p gives you lots to do and lots to buy with in game currency. This game is also really generous with characters and loot, and there's so much to do that it never feels like you have to buy energy or gold to keep going. The combat is dynamic and fun, though it can drag on occasionally. I use 3x speed. For a game of this type, I think this is a really solid choice.
Gameplay: The gameplay is fun, as every character is unique. If you pay attention to the story, it won't get repetitive. Graphics: I found myself liking the graphics and art style. It seems a bit like a 3D comic book. Money: Not much feels like a cash grab; most characters can be unlocked rather quickly (for free). I have a 4-star Scarlet Witch at level 44, and I've only been playing for about a week.
I've been playing for about a year now and was able to unlock quite a lot of characters. Now with the most recent update, I come to find that the game has basically deleted my account as when I opened the game it started with the tutorial again. All my progress, characters, everything, gone. I've never used any other device to play on other than my phone so that isn't the issue. I am very disheartened about this.
Game has continued to turn to a pay to play. I've been playing for 4 years and have been a light spender. Frozen Dimension SUCKS! If you don't spend lots of money to unlock and rank the latest meta team as high as possible right away, it's extremely difficult and not fun to play. I hope this theme changes or you will lose your loyal customer base. ***Adding that most milestone events are impossible to get the last few and most useful rewards unless you spend money.
