The game, much like its predecessor, was stunning. We meet new characters, have a whole new story presented to us, and the puzzles present fresh new challenges to the mind. The only issue I have with it is the shortness of the game. This is to be anticipated from a mobile game, but presents a contrast between price and gameplay. So I'd like to pitch to the creators: maybe a longer game for computer or console?
Reviews for Monument Valley 2
← Back to Monument Valley 2I love the concept, but it has two big flaws. One, it is very, very easy. The game presents no challenge. Two, it is very short, just 2-3 hours. I would have liked to see a longer game with puzzles that progress in difficulty. I think that challenging puzzles are possible with this gameplay and for a sequel I'd like to see a more difficult game.
It was a fun chill puzzle game. It seemed easier than the first one which I was a little disappointed on, but I really enjoyed the mechanic where you made the geometry at the end of each level. I experienced a bug on level 14 for the night/day section where the day side graphics made it hard to see the daughter. Overall chill game. Nice calming music and fantastic graphics.
I love the monument valley games. I think they're super fun and interesting take on puzzle games. my one singular complaint I've ever had. I have gotten the secret achievement on this one multiple times and for some reason it never counts it. I get the whole 'achievment unlocked' thing while I'm playing but when I finish the level and come back here to check it still says 14/15 completed so :/ but that really has nothing to do with the beautiful, wonderful, game it's just a personal problem
This is my first experience with the series and I loved it. Puzzles were relatively simple. The ambiance, level design, and story are where it shined. I did my first playthrough without sound and liked it so much I decided to play again with sound. I strongly suggest you take the devs recommendation and play with sound. It really rounds out the experience this game provides.
Honestly, the first game was stunning. It would be hard to outdo it. But this game feels like they didn't really try. The puzzles are a lot more trial and error and a lot less skill than the first game. The mother/daughter thing feels gimmicky. And I turned the music off because it was actually a worse game imo with the sound--something I would never dream of saying of the first game.
So the art is brilliant, but the game is so easy, especially if you played the first one. I feel that they intentionally made the levels easy. The game took me 3 small sessions to beat. Most entire sections I beat in less than 10 minutes. The levels usually only have one thing you can do, so it makes it for easy completion. Would give it 5 stars if was free, but not for $4.99 should be more difficult.
When I think of a generic mobile game, I think of a puzzle game. One with simplistic designs. However, this game is both of those and yet not even close to the same. The animations are extraordinary. The art is the best simplistic style I've ever seen. The gameplay is so varied throughout your entire adventure... Its simply beautiful. The whole thing is just a great experience.
This is a thoroughly enjoyable sequel to the original game, with the same mesmerizing soundtrack and lovey imagery and new(ish) puzzles. It is short but sweet and one of the few "games" that actually makes me feel better after playing it a little while. On a down note, I had a LOT of trouble with this game both on my phone and my tablet. The audio crackles and pops a lot on the phone; the game would not run at all on my tablet beyond the "loading..." screen until I uninstalled it and rebooted. But once up and lumbering under its own weight, it looks and sound marvelous on the big 8" tablet screen!
Dropped a star because updates got my hopes up, but no new content was added. Like the first one, the graphics and sound are beautiful, but this one is much less challenging, with much shorter levels, and quicker to complete overall. Putting a second object into the puzzles should have opened a lot more options. Disappointing for the money spent. I really hope a free, or very cheap, update is in the works!
I loved the first game. This sequel had a nice story but the puzzles were way too easy and way too short. The game is beautiful and the concept is still great but the puzzles needed more. I had delayed purchasing this game to wait for a sale and it was made available for free. I'm glad I waited just because I would not have felt like I got my money's worth
I don't know if the devs get compensated for this being on the Play Plus subscription, but I genuinely feel bad about getting both of these games for free. They are amazingly well put together, cleverly designed and just genuinely a mountain of fun. They are well worth the price for the amount of content and enjoyment I have gotten out of them. I haven't enjoyed a puzzle game this much since Thomas Was Alone. Found this game while looking for more Dream Ticker style puzzles from Star Rail.
This game is so unique and so beautiful!! I thought it was merely cute and entertaining at first, but it gets so addictive and much more complex as you move on. In my opinion, no story is needed, but the bits of storyline that exist leave me wanting much more. Music and sound effects are fabulous. I cannot get enough. I hope they keep releasing more editions.
Entertaining, creative, easy to play, and for all. If you need something to kill time, or you enjoy puzzles (I dont but I love this game) this game for you. Its absolutely worth $3.99. The art and simplicity make it stand out from other games. Other games are too loaded with features and try to make you pay more and more, not this game. I highly recommend this. Easy 5/5.
There are no other words but just AWESOME. It's simple yet beautiful, smooth, challenging but not overwhelming. To the music and audio producers: HUGE KUDOS! The audio of this game is amazing. It puts you in the perfect head space to relax and really enjoy this game all the way through. The one complaint I hear about this game is that it is too short. I feel like it was just a enough to satisfy you but still keep you wanting a little more, which means I'll be looking for Monument Valley 3 😉.
I came into this game without playing the first so any overarching story I was not aware of. A short game/ story that (how I perceive) is about growing up. A beautiful soundtrack underscores very well made puzzles that at times had me scratching my head. The designs that you could draw up after level completion were a nice touch to put on the main level select screen. The only major downside was on a personal note that I did not play it on my tablet to get better feedback on the rotational aspects. Overall I would definitely recommend this game to any friends I had and will most assuredly play the first game.
I loved the first part, and this second one doesn't disappoint. The visuals are equally beautiful, the volumes lively and comfortable. The puzzles are incredibly creative, they not only make you think, but they also surprise you with how well thought out they are (applause to the programmers, even if it is only a little easier than the first). I loved the interaction between the two characters and the messages they conveyed. More than a game, both parts are a warm and comfortable experience ✨✨👏
I really loved this game, albeit not as much as the original. In many ways some concepts and the art has been improved, but overall it's much easier and shorter than the original. I feel that the puzzles areuch shorter and easier but still a good game. I think that it's roughly the same amount of money as the original, they should add some additional cont for free, or at least some low cost dlc
Beautiful game with intricate puzzles to solve. I almost gave it four stars because I found to be easier than the original Monument Valley and I believe it was shorter. Plus, the original had additional levels separate from the main storyline. But, nonetheless, this is a great, beautifully designed game. I hear that Monument Valley 3 is in the works and I am looking forward to it! Great games!
So I played this one after the first game. The puzzles seem easier and more simplistic. It took my maybe 5.5 hours to finish the first game (guestimating because I didn't finish it all in one go but over a course of a couple days). This game took me 2.5 hours and I did it all in one go including the forest chapter. The storyline is sweet, especially seeing totem, and the ending is nice. The art seems a bit more simple than the first. Overall I liked playing it. It was nice to continue the story.
