Reviews for My Boy! - GBA Emulator

← Back to My Boy! - GBA Emulator

The app is great. It runs everything I throw at it with no issues at all. However I have cloud sync turned off as I have had some corruption with other apps in the past and don't necessarily trust it. Even though sync is turned off multiple times a day I get a request to connect to the Drive of every account on my phone. If I have it turned off why am I still getting requests?

Definitely one of my favorite phone emulators of all time, the only thing is as soon as I went from the free version to the paid version all of my screenshots decided to be .JPEG and I have no way to fix it to be .PNG again. 😬 and yes I tried searching around the menus but I might have missed it. Otherwise that I usually don't have any issues connecting between two different devices and playing games. If any help on guidance on where to find that picture change setting that would be wonderful.

Recent update broke it. Can't access save files anymore due to them being on the root of device storage. Absolutely useless now. Obviously these files with be on the root storage, it's the only storage on any modern android device. Myboy itself is on the root, and it considers it's subfolder of saves on the root as well. For a paid app, unacceptable.

No longer works, which is especially bad because this version cost money to use. I paid for it, and now I can't use it anymore, it's ridiculous. Fix it or give us our money back. Edit: the MyBoy folder doesn't include the game files themselves, they need to be moved into the folder manually, figure I'd help whoever might read this since nobody else said how to fix it. This still needs to be fixed in some way by the developers, the fact it needs to be done at all is ridiculous.

Almost perfect! great, well featured emulator that runs well on low-spec devices. Only two small complaints; there doesn't seem to be a way to *remove* library folders, and there's no option to automatically mute the game while using fast-forward. Still well worth the price, but I would love to see these features implemented in the future.

The emulator is good, but IT WILL ASK FOR PERMISSION TO ACCESS YOUR EMAIL ACCOUNTS CONSTANTLY, no matter how many times you deny it. Many people may not think twice before pressing allow. I can't think of any legitimate reason why an emulation app would need access to your email. It is VERY suspicious, potential phishing or identity theft. Just be careful, DO NOT allow this permission. One star until I hear an explanation from the developer about it and they fix it.

MyBoy has not logged the many times I have saved in-game since the update on May 3. When I imported a save file for another game, all of my save files within their folder were imported and loaded at earlier save points since the last time I had played them. I lost 30 hours in Pokémon Ruby. 💔 I want to enjoy this emulator, but the issues that have occurred since its initial update are making it hard to do. I am afraid to continue using it. Can this please be fixed?

Worked well. Now that you have to go through root storage... idk, I made a different folder, uploaded the files, and... they don't work. Won't load, don't know how to pull them out... Goes from one of THE BEST mobile emulators to an absolute scam (by all appearances, anyway, I might be screwing something up, but still). Save your money, folks, at least until it gets fixed.

Myboy has been the emulator Ive used for GBA games for years. But recently, there is an issue with save data. Games run great, and save just fine, but if I wanted to pull the save data or upload save data, it's impossible now. I don't know if there is a way to fix that or not. I know pizza boy emulator has the ability to use save data from any location and also can export save data. Hoping that comes to MyBoy

I've used this emulator for awhile now, and love it. Recently though I've switched to a Sony Xperia X, and it keeps crashing on certain games. Mostly having problems with Pokemon Fire Red, and Emerald. Otherwise a very solid emulator in terms of speed, and ease of use. Worth the $5 spent, but would love to see the crashing issues fixed.

The emulator works well. One problem that could be fixed fairly easily is you can't connect different games remotely. This makes sense from a programmer's perspective. But it's unnecessary. If you did link two different games, it wouldn't do anything. And it also makes trades between different pokemon games annoying. You can connect 2 different games locally. Which means 2 roms, trade from say Ruby to sapphire locally, then connect to your friend remotely who also Carries Sapphire.

A very good GBA emulator. It's very straightforward and compatible with a lot of ROM hacks, which are my most played games. I also really appreciate the Google Drive connectivity, so I can continue playing games from one device to another. One qualm I do have is that updates seem slow, sometimes scarce. But otherwise, it's very good.

Been using this emulator for years and it was great. But now in the last update they made a major change. It no longer uses the save folder. Plus and this is the big one, we no longer have access to our save data. You use to be able to copy your save data and run it on an EZ Flash card and play your game on a real gameboy. Or even upload the save file to a real game cartridge. Still a good emulator, but this update is a big step backwards. Give me the option to down grade my version of the app

Before the new update I would have given 5 stars. Unfortunately now in order to access your rom files you have to manually look for them and upload them to the app wheras before they were automatically added to the list of games after you saved the rom to your device. In an attempt to make things "better" you've sullied the easy experience. Oh and if you can't find your games under the myboy folder (like the app says you should) you're gonna have to go through your downloads folder Happy diggin

Emulator needs a bug update. Hasn't been done since May of 2023. I put hours into a game recently, and now when I try to open said game, it says emulator has a bug. Update app after developer fixes issue. Hoping this can be addressed soon. The rest of the games still work but the one that I really got into doesn't all of the sudden. It made me not want to play any of them anymore for fear that I was gonna lose all my progress anyway

I don't know what happened with the latest update to this app... before it was a 5/5, no issues. Usually, I could play a game and if I needed to go on other apps for a while, the emulator would still be running in the background, a notification saying so. Now, if I switch to another app then it'll completely restart the emulator which is a big issue for games that don't autosave. And I don't even get a notification on my phone saying the emulator is running anymore (probably on my end).

Very good. Works great. However, it would GREATLY Benefit from some way of reorganizing the list of cheats. At least, a drag-to-reorder system so you can put similar cheats together in the list. Even better would be a simple folder system. Using pokemon for example, currently, if you add cheats to buy certain items, then add cheats for other things, then add a cheat to buy another item, the new item cheat will be stuck at the bottom of the the list. It would be nice to be able to group them.

I LOVE this emulator, but I have one suggestion that I think would make it even better if it's something that's even possible to do : Make it so that, when in fast forward mode, the game you're playing is in fast forward, but the game's music stays at 1x speed. I LOVE the pokemon music like, A LOT, but I have to play without sound because I can't stand playing in regular speed due to how slow everything is in pokemon games, and the game music is an absolute hearape in fast forward.

Four-star simply because it's a cool tool... It's not perfect. I've switched four phones since I've had this emulator. My friend bought me this emulator for my birthday. I play pokémon games on it a lot. when transferring to a cell phone, it is a challenge to find files. my games are still in the saved spot where they were. in one cell phone it was saved in my photos....weird? The files wind up wherever it's convenient perhaps. It is better than all other emulators I've downloaded most.

it seems to be good so far. my only complaint is that you should be able to control how much it speeds up in fast forward. The free version speedup was perfect while this version is to much. Especially when it comes to the music it's just a bunch of insufferable noise. While on the free version you can still here the music it's just a bit more sped up.
