Heavily inspired by slay the spire. Overall pretty fun. Balance is not great off; melee is so much stronger than ranged. Game play loop is pretty enjoyable once you figure out the balance. In game currency trickles in (~200 / 20min game) and prices are ridiculously high (8000+), so don't expect to be able to buy a few new characters without 12+ hours of play.
Reviews for Pirates Outlaws
← Back to Pirates OutlawsExtremely fun game with potential to be better still! unlike some of the other reviews, I don't believe that you have to rely on in-app to play this game. A few suggestions: I'd like to see the Glossary updated and complete and I think that the heroes could use short, video tutorial overviews, especially if you intend to add more. I'm hesitant to buy them and try them because I don't understand them. I love the game overall and I cant wait to see what else they add!
to be honest, the game should be free, since you're paying for characters, or a flat rate. grinding, is definitely notable here, not a bad thing, but that's what i feel is also a killer aspect. i do like the randomness of each encounter, be it good or bad. you'll technically spend 5$ on most characters if you don't grind. to me, that's asking a lot when they all are on paper, similar. i think you should cut prices a bit or offer bundles.
I really don't understand why this is an Editors Choice pick. The visuals and game play are five-star-worthy. The problem is the time barrier to progress. While most content is unlockable with time, the in-game currency cost of those items compared to what you can earn per-run is off balanced for a paid title. I have read the developers comments related to this mechanic and I can't agree with the logic. A paid title should not feel like such a grind for simple progression.
Fun game but requires a lot of grinding to unlock skins, locations and new characters. Each will cost from 2000 - 8000 gold each and assuming you have a run from start to finish you will earn 560 gold, thats "if" you can actually beat all three bosses. Over all it's a good game but be prepared for some grinding if your looking to unlock more content. So over all a good game but would like more options for earning gold.
I have my criticism but don't be too put off by it. The game is A LOT of fun. Easy to pickup and hard to put down. Perfect for commutes or when you need to kill a few minutes This definitely feels like a paid demo. Most of the heros you play on your journey and all the environments are unlockable but after putting 10 hours in, I've only had enough to unlock one hero and one environment. Either grind for days, weeks, months or pay full price through micro transactions or just go but it on steam.
Fun for a few hours, then you'll need to spend money to progress. The first couple of unlocks can be earned through a reasonable amount of gameplay, but after that the cost to unlock new characters, abilities, etc. through normal gameplay rises VERY steeply. Of course, you can skip countless hours of grinding if you start forking over cash. I guess I can't play a game that costs $1 for basically having a free-to-play shakedown structure, but it's still disappointing.
As a time killer this is fine, but the more you advance the more frustrating it becomes, and I don't mean the difficulty scaling. The problem with this roguelike deckbuilder is the deckbuilding itself. Dozens, then hundreds of cards unlock as you go, many of them useless (especially for a given character), but all thrown into the same build pool. Since you're always forced to keep adding to your deck, each run just gets clumsier and more self-defeating even as the challenge demands the opposite.
This game is great. Runs well, alot of content, and really fun. I'm rating it two stars because it's a premium game, but it's also pay to win. Make gold easier to get. It is horrible how hard it is to unlock anything because the rewards are too low. I'll give more stars when the in game currency is increased. Shouldn't be this tedious for a premium game.
Mostly good, but borderline ruined by the AP system: a resource is forcably expended, necessary to survive, and pointless. It is especially annoying to go out of your way to refill then die because you clicked leave shop too soon, but cant go back into the shop on the same tile for ??? reason. "Hey I did everything right and and am set to clear the game, but I'm about to die because I clicked leave store too soon." The AP system adds very little to the game at the cost of regular frustration.
Massive potential, but it's a deal breaker for me that I don't get to build my own deck from the start. That means winning or losing is more about the cards and relics you come across on each journey. More random than skill, in other words. Due to the random nature of the game, I'm a little miffed that I have to grind so much, or pay extra, to unlock other characters. I don't mind a grind if it's fun, but being stuck with the same starting deck and hoping for good luck along the way isn't fun.
Great deck building game with tons of replayability! I've spent a few hundred hours on this, but I made maybe just one small in-game purchase. It is hard but not unwinnable, but I also often use a little cheat (if something bad happens, you can often exit and re-enter the game if you do so before returning to the map/game over screen). Solid and affordable game all around.
This is a really good game to scratch the card based rougelike itch. Great art style, alot of content. An average run will last 40-50 minutes. After playing a while you learn that there isnt a lot of variety when it comes to deck building. The only problem with the game is that it takes to long to unlock characters and maps. After i saved up 10000 gold to unlock the musician, i played a few games with him and lost interest before i could save up enough to unlock new maps or another char.
Really fun game. Really hard game. Maybe a little to hard but what ever. I've been playing for 2 weeks now and I still can't beat the first map. Also I find it a shame that I spend a dollar to get the game and everything is so outrageously priced you about have to pay more money to unlock stuff. But on the bright side the cards are neat and for a dollar its definitely worth it.
This game has a very fun and easy to understand concept to it. I saw this game and thought that it look interesting and so I purchased it.after about an hour or two of gameplay I made the first and the late second in-app purchase (Not very many games can get me to do that). This game has a very easy to understand concept along with great mechanics and ideas behind it. Not yet my most played game but definitely the most fun I have found so far. Not enough space to type. Amazing game! 5 Stars!
Love this game! Nice and chill, great replay value and built-in non-scaling format. (Basically you always suck at first, so the baddies don't need to be ridiculously hard later on). One thing i would LOVE is the ability to kind of select a range of skills and artifacts you'll see more often. I haven't been buying packages because i don't want to dilute my awesome setup! I want everything, but it'll force me to play differently (which i don't want to right now) 😅
Playing the game is very fun. There is alot of different characters too choose from and a variety of maps and events while playing to keep you intrigued, even with another game mode. On the other hand it takes 12+ hours to get one of the characters so it makes it feel you can't spend money on anything but them and all the other things too buy just aren't worth the grind. Less grind is definitely needed, because that's what makes me play the game less than I would. It only pushes players away.
What a Game! I have loved every minute of this game. It feels perfectly balanced between strategy, chance, and difficulty, I love that you can set it down at any time, and pick it up again when time allows. I love the difficulty progression, which leaves me always right at the cusp of mastering the game, only to encounter a new challenge. I am blown away by the sheer volume of cards and the level of detail put into card descriptions. Some are darn near poetic! The game is perfect!
I like games with replayability. I love this game. Hundreds of hours spent. As you progress the game simply doesn't roll over. There's so much progression! So many characters! After doing every achievement with every character in every map across all modes. I feel as if I have no other option than to HIGHLY recommend this game! My only regret is reaching the peak, but it was a fun challenge. A great game to drop 2 minutes on or 2 hours per session, very fast and flexible for phone use.
Don't let this game fool you, this is no little mobile game time killer. This is a fully fledged rouguelike deck builder in your pocket. I've been playing the game on and off over 4 years now and im still not done! The game has a beautiful and simple style, with a straightforward gameplay loop that gets more addicting each run. There's hundreds of hours of content here. Trust me, this game is worth every penny.
