I am shocked at how perfectly ans smoothly this has transitioned onto a tablet. Game play is just as simple as it was on a desktop 20 years ago (my God, has it really been that long). They have even made some very minor changes to game play/construction that make a nice difference, but really just left the game exactly how it was. All the original park scenarios and expansion packs are included in the download. Definitely worth the money and I am looking forward to wasting a ton of time on this.
Reviews for RollerCoaster Tycoon® Classic
← Back to RollerCoaster Tycoon® ClassicPretty good replica of the original. However, it's missing quite a bit of stuff. Not seeing some rides or scenery I'm used to, less paths and queues to pick from, and the scenario editor is gone. Still, lots of fun for $6. Update: Tried to buy a DLC pack but when it went through it said purchase failed, yet my card was charged. Not liking that.
Game is a masterpiece, but Android just put out a huge new update 2 days ago that changed how a lot of the OS interface looks, etc. I went to play the game just now, for the first time since updating my phone and was greeted with a message saying the game "is not compatible with this version of Android" and warning that it may not work properly. Please update this game! I adore RCT and being able to play it on my phone even more!
After the latest Android OS updates, the game display ratio is extremely fuzzy and hard to see. Because of this, the game is no longer playable. Please take a moment to look in to this, as I have even repurchased the game twice thinking the issue was with me. I am now request refunds, since I have clearly purchased the game multiple times and very frustrated.
Great game, but then again this is the same review I game the game from 20 years ago. It is a really good port that plays way better on mobile then I thought; smooth, great performance, and some mobile friendly design changes. All things considered, you'll end up paying ~20 USD to get the full game including initial purchase. If I sold you a car, and told you the headlights had to be bought separately you'd hit me over the head. Apparently Atari, Inc views this as standard marketing practices.
I'm genuinely so happy to have this game on my phone, being a fan of the original on PC since I was just a kid! Its basically beat for beat the same game, just for touch screen. However, I do find graphical errors from time to time. Such as certain coaster track pieces being invisible, yet functionally there. Nothing game breaking, but it can be annoying. Other than that, 10/10, would charge $0.20 for restrooms again.
Great game. Reminds me of my childhood, haven't been able to put it down. For those of you who bought the previous version and are unable to play. Simply contact atari and send them the receipt of your purchase; they will send you a code for the new version asap. Didn't even take me 24hrs. Great support staff! If you're wondering how to find the receipt just go to the account you purchased through and search "Receipt rct classic". Should pop right up.
No ads, no annoying popups, pretty much exactly like the old school game. I'm playing way too much it's addicting. I love it. Just bought expansion packs because I finished most of the scenarios. This is the only game I've seen with no ads!! No annoying you to upgrade or to purchase more freemium options. I really wish other game developers would follow suit! It's extremely fun however I cannot imagine playing this game without a stylus. (Note 20 ultra).
It's Rollercoaster Tycoon on mobile. The first and the second game. What more could you want. Only thing I don't agree with is the fact that you have to make a second $5.99 purchase to create your own parks, export them, or import other parks. As well as the second game's expansions, Wacky Worlds and Time Twisters, are also $1.99 each. Still worth the money because you get 10+ parks for each expansion and the ability to create your own parks which will give you hours of fun.
Got to feeling nostalgic and wanted to play a old favorite from my childhood, tried the RCT Touch, hated it to the pits of my soul. So much that I changed my decision not to buy this and I bought it. Worth every penny. There are a few changes, but mostly improvements. The game runs fine so far the only real complaint is there are alot of challenges you have to buy in two $1.99 packs, which I had to buy too. Does make the game less of a bargain. Also you can't charge a fee to enter your park.
I like the PC version but got the app a few months ago and LOVED it. great game, no issues. This past week or so, with a new phone, I haven't been able to play more then five minutes before it'll crash on me. It seems to me that the edit mode is setting it off, which is fine normally because I don't build my own rides. However just accidently clicking on the name of a ride and trying to click out of it is crashing my game and losing whatever progress I've made. It is beyond frustrating.
This app is super nostalgic! Loving it so far. There is an error message related to contacting the developer on the title screen, as others have mentioned. But no big deal as the app works fine for me anyway. The only issue I'm having is with my park entrance fee. I can't change the admission price and can't find anything online about how to do so. This makes profits pretty slow so expanding my parks takes a lot longer. If this one issue could be fixed, the app would get 5 stars in my book.
Honestly, it's pretty much exactly like the original. A few graphical errors, but with almost every mobile game out there making you pay to win nowadays, this is like my wildest fantasy, having just a one-time purchase, and then you can play the whole thing. Kudos to Atari for that. If you have memories of the old RCT and want to play it again, definitely get this.
Exactly like the computer game I played twenty years ago! Graphics and all! I love it! Total nostalgia. No additional in app purchases after purchasing. Just complete the scenarios in each park and move to the next one. On the downside I had completed probably twenty parks, work got crazy so a month went by before I could get back and it now says I have no saved parks. I am not playing anymore because I am irritated all my progress is gone.
I really loved seeing one of my favorite childhood games on mobile. While the port is pretty faithful, there are a few very slight omissions like path types and no mountain terrain tool. Nonetheless, I love the game, and the controls are pretty dang good for the small screen size. I wish Atari would take some cues from the original 3 RCT games, but when I want a more modern experience, I don't need Atari. I've got parkitect and Planet Coaster.
Over all, great game, I've been playing for about 20 hours now and I have not found anything wrong with it. The only thing I wish was in the game, like the original, is the option to have a sand box mode. Other then that, I've had no issues at all, the game ran smooth, the game didn't crash at all, and plays like the original. Keep in mind when I'm writing this, Im using a Samsung j7 crown, which is a lower end phone, so if the game keeps crashing, close the apps running in the background
Very nostalgic, and for the most part it just feels like the original games but now on the phone! However, the limited controls do rear their ugly heads in two notable places. Firstly, making buildings of a decent size is near impossible, since the isometric view makes it hard to tell if a piece is in the correct spot or somewhere completely different. Secondly, terrain is extremely annoying in this game, and terraforming every square to make a mountain is not a fun time. Otherwise a great game!
I'd like it if you could buy land multiple tiles at a time instead of clicking them individually. You can't pause when you do it, so it takes time against your park goal. It should either allow purchasing while paused or let me buy multiple tiles at a time. BUG: Zooming in by holding and then trying to slide the 🔎 caused the game to crash. I was over water on Leafy Lake.
THANK YOU Classic PC game, perfectly adapted to phone play. Thankyou for a seamless, uninterrupted game play (just like the good old days!) No annoying micro transactions, no sustains, no ads. No upsell pressure (even though there are expansion options if you go looking.) thankyou! absolutely worth the purchase price. just as enjoyable as when i played this as a kid. Even a few minor annoyances from the old pc game have been ironed out.
although the nostalgia is there, some features aren't. my biggest concern is there's no way to charge admission fee which tanks sales off the bat. After building basic rides, there is no money left to keep going with the bigger ones. Any advice from the creators? To be honest, the PC version is way better and not worth the 6 dollars to play this game. Make this make sense and I'll definitely change my rating.
