This is the best deck-builder out there, and the mobile version is just about as perfect as the PC version. This is also one of the best Rouge-likes out there. It's one of the first times I liked the game enough to try and beat the higher difficulties (Ascensions) you can unlock with each character. If you ever feel like you've run out of content (which is incredibly hard to do) you can always get the PC version and play the with hundreds of mods (or just Downfall, that's the best one by far)
Reviews for Slay the Spire
← Back to Slay the SpireLove the game so much, only some problems with moble, I beat the game with Ironclad, Silent, and Defect but the option to Recall hasn't appeared. I thought i only had to win as those 3 to actually fight the Heart. (At least that's how it is on the Xbox version). But other then that it's a great game and would recommend.
Slay the spire is a dangerous mobile game because it's easy to pick up but incredibly deficit to put down. Once you understand how the deck building machines and gamplay work, it becomes highly addictive. Jumping into a run is quick, easy, and fun. It's easy to save your progress, so if something comes up, you can easily put it down and come back later, but if you're not careful, you can spend hours playing without realizing it. I highly recommend this game!
Controls could be better. For those of you who are having syncing data issues, open up your Play Games app. Go to settings, then Delete Play Games account & data, find Slay the Spire and delete it. When you launch the game and it prompts you to log in to your Google account just click outside the borders to skip it or press back. Haven't had any issues with syncing or saving after that.
Enjoyable Game, but my save has reverted to a previous (very old) save a couple of times now, losing a lot of hard won achievements and progress. The last time this happened, after a day or two, it was suddenly back to the more recent save but there's no way to force export/upload/download data, so there doesn't seem to be anything I can do to stop this from happening.
The game itself is wonderful. I've put many hours into it on both Switch and PC. The mobile implementation is... bad. Out of 4 runs, I've lost two of them because, when I beat the final boss, the game freezes, crashes, then retains no knowledge that I ever did such a run, let alone unlocked the next character. Avoid.
I don't post reviews much, but I'll do one for this game. It's amazing. If you're into turn based, strategy card games, this is it. Absolutely ZERO ads. No pay to win. 100% strategy...and luck (it is a card game). The replayability is endless. The build possibilities are vast since you can choose so many cards, relics, potions, etc. wish there were more characters. Other than that, I've played this game for tons of hours. If it cost $30, I'd still buy it.
Slay the Spire is very good, and this is a faithful port. A little too faithful in my opinion, as it hasn't been adjusted for mobile devices. Almost everything, especially text, is too small. On a normal computer screen it's fine, but phones are smaller. And there is no option to make it bigger. Looking through cards is also very awkward, as there's only one method of input instead of the three or four a mouse offers. Fixing these issues will earn a 5 star from me.
The game itself is really fun. The art style is interesting, the gameplay is surprisingly crisp, considering the type of game it is. It's a great way to pass a plane ride. My issue, however, is that cloud saves are broken in such a way that you can't transfer saves across devices. That's a huge issue. I reached out to support, and they said it is broken on some devices after Android 14, and there's no ETA on a fix. I take that as it might never be fixed, so fair warning out there.
I enjoy this game and usually play it while my partner is playing on her playstation. It's fun, challenging, and exciting. HOWEVER! There is a bug problem with when the game gets closed. I'm not the first to say it, and I'm hoping that it'll get addressed. I lost probably the best run I've had in this game, almost through Act 3, and completely lost it because I had to text my ride who was ready to pick me up. I hope it gets fixed soon because I really don't want to loose another run like that.
Like the game a lot, it feels well balanced in terms of difficulty and diversity in play style. The UI is very quirky and unintuitive in ways that can completely kill your run. Deselecting cards is so frustratingly difficult. Screens behave inconsistently; you'll expect a confirmation when selecting options on some screens, but NOPE it just made a run ending decision for you when all you were trying to do is scroll down to browse. Easily a 5 star game with better navigation otherwise
Great game with a sub-par UI. Attempting to deselect cards in hand leads to accidental usage of that card. I don't want drag to use and tap to use at the same time. let me have a setting to pick one. The hitbox to pick cards is inconsistent and I select the wrong card all the time. Everything about the game is great but the this. sadly I dont see an update improving this in the future as the game has been out for a minute.
it's a fun game, various strategies, lots of avenues to explore. I expect to spend plenty more time playing. I have two suggestions: 1) if it syncs w Google Play, it should sync across devices. I played a lot on my phone but it's annoying so wanted to use a tablet. 2) controls are lacking, esp on a phone. DEselecting a card is near impossible.
EDIT: My original review was a 1 star because it was a broken port. It is now fixed, and port is as good as can be reasonably expected on mobile. As to the game itself. Super easy to learn, unbelievable strategic depth (it looks pretty luck based at first, but as you develop better strategy, you find out it's mostly skill-based). No ads or in-app purchases. Honestly one of the best single-player games ever made.
Modern classic card game. All the characters feel unique, and have multiple viable build types. Unlocks, challenges, and general RNG add a ton of replayability. Difficulty can be pretty brutal before you learn the mechanics and unlock things so read what everything does. Every item, status, buff/debuff or enemy action has a description letting you react. It is also fairly light on battery and storage as a 2D game and being able to save at any point makes it a good fit for mobile.
!!! Be Careful !!! There isn't a successful way to transfer your data. Thankfully I wasn't too far, but in game or outside the game, there isn't options to save, sync, or transfer. I enjoy this game a lot, but this kills it for me. I can imagine myself already getting another phone and it won't transfer properly. Another to watch out for, if it's trying to find a way for you to repurchase the game, don't do it and look online 1st.
I honestly love this game on other platforms, but this port needs work. The previous graphical bug has been fixed, but there are still other bugs that do need ironing out, for example crashes that cause you to lose progress, freezing when the game saves, runs still active despite finishing the run, and others. Edit: Most of the bugs and crashes have been fixed, but they do still appear occasionally.
I recently started playing and love this game. Incredible time sink and very clever (and difficult) game. The touch controls, however, are absolutely abysmal, and the only reason I deducted 2 stars. You'll absolutely and repeatedly play cards you don't intend to while just trying to read them, and that's a massive handicap in a game that requires so much strategy. I hope to see that addressed at some point and will adjust my review accordingly if so.
The game itself is amazing, but there are just a couple small things related to it being a mobile port that keep it from being perfect. Primarily, hand interactions, like deselecting held cards, can be annoyingly janky. Due to this jank, it is also possible (and plausible, as it's happened to me) to accidentally play a card when you meant to put it down. I wish they'd just polish this a bit, since it's at the core of the game. If they did, I'd gladly give 5 stars.
I'll be honest, the only kinda buggy things I have ever experienced with the mobile port are, 1. A known bug: After you unlock all the relics and cards for all characters, the game will still think you haven't so you have to make a new save file and then go back to your original save file to fix that. 2. With the silent, sometimes with the card Well-Laid Plans, if I'm selecting cards too fast, the game won't register it and discard the selected card at the end of the turn. besides that 10/10
