Reviews for Star Wars™: KOTOR

← Back to Star Wars™: KOTOR

Currently, there is a glitch during the swoop bike quest where I cannot reenter the hidden Bek base to complete the quest and turn in the swoop bike part. Of course, the game can't be continued as this is part of the main quest line. It is a real shame, since I was planning on buying kotor 2 when it comes out but I won't do that if I can't finish part 1. Please fix this glitch - As it is extremely disappointing to lose an 8 hour save file.

Pretty darn fun. This game is a huge blast from the past, I've spent hours with this game on PC, and the WHOLE GAME is on mobile. It's super impressive to me that they got the entirety of this (for the time it came out) huge game on mobile. Just like any port would though, it has its issues. A lot of little issues, it's not super comfortable to play. Especially the turret mini games. But all in all a good experience.

Honestly at first, I did not like the movement of the character at all in the mobile version. It's slow and often laggy, but I still greatly enjoy being able to play a childhood favorite wherever I am whenever I want to. It really is an awesome thing to have handy. And the game play and actually very similar to the original Xbox version from way back when. Overall, still a great game, but the movement mechanics need a little touch up. 4/5*

Great game and a great port for the most part. The controls for the turret mini game and swoop racing are terrible on touch controls. The game also doesn't work with any USB-C controller like my Razer Kishi v2. The game just immediately crashes. A fix for this would be fantastic, as google made it much harder to mod this game, and a controller is absolutely crucial for the swoop racing and makes the turret mini game a lot easier.

Great for nostalgia, but swoop racing is nearly impossible due to touch screen controls (must lift from steering to tap to change gears - then steering sticks often). The instances of manning the gun turret on the Ebon Hawk has a similar difficulty. For the love of Bastila, fix the bug that disallows you to skip the initial dialogue EVERY time you engage with an NPC (even if you have already spoken with them).

First off, for the people reviewing the game that talk about the only downfall being the clunky controls...and for the people reading those reviews, and hesitating to buy this game because of that, there is an easy solution. If you have an Xbox One controller it can wirelessly connect to your mobile device via bluetooth just the same as connecting to an Xbox. I can't imagine playing the game using touchscreen controls, it was developed to be played with a controller. I originally tried this after I bought GTA San Andreas on my phone and couldn't stand tapping and swiping and what not, it wasn't even fun. So I tried the controller and it worked perfectly, the button mapping was slightly different but I got used to it real quick. I was pleasantly surprised to find it works for KOTOR also, and even tho this game is almost 20 years old, there's something about playing a triple A console game on my cell phone that makes it feel like a fresh new fun experience. Love this game.

One of the best RPGs on the play store. Its not a perfect game by any means; the minigames didn't translate well, and it's age shows in the graphics, map size, sound, ect. However it is a masterclass in RPG storytelling. The situations aren't always black and white. You feel the temptation to give in to the dark side. You have to go and find it yourself without having a giant arrow pointing the way. Why can't modern mobile RPGs get this right? If you want a real RPG on mobile. This is for you.

When I first played this port of the game in 2015 it was absolutely rife with bugs, but I am happy to say this no longer seems to be an issue on newer devices. This time, I encountered one bug the entire time I played (one less than I did on the original xbox release). If you have an older device, I would consider avoiding this port and buying the game for PC or digging out your original xbox to play it instead. There's no use in ruining one of the best RPG experiences of all time for yourself.

PLEASE enable plug in controllers. This is one of my favorite games of all time, but it is so bad with the touch screen. If there is just one feature I and many others would beg to see implemented, it is to be able to use controllers like the one from Razer or the BackBone. I personally use the BackBone, and was extremely disappointed to find out it does not work. It is even advertised as being compatible with BackBone through their software, so it is a massive letdown that the app really doesnt

"I am broken. Very very broken." This port has so many things going for it, including save ruining bugs. At certain points throughout the story, it is possible to lose characters from data corruption, and you can no longer choose companions any will be brought the prompt. "I am broken. Very very broken." Also, racing and turret segments do no work on the Galaxy Fold 6.

UPDATE: After years of not touching this game, tried again on a much newer phone. Not sure how much had been patched, but with multiple save files, I was able to play around the bugs and complete it Encountered frequent, but small bugs. Learned to work around them and what actions on my phone caused them. But then one of the glitches, where an area resets itself as if you've never been there before, actually caused me to be stuck on a planet and not be able to finish the game!!! (Galaxy S9)

This port of SW:KOTOR is probably a lot easier to play on tablet. Playing on a phone is a bit of a pain. That said, it can without a doubt be played on a phone. I played the entirety of KOTOR on my mobile and It ran great on a device with 3 GB RAM and a mid tier CPU and GPU. I didn't encounter any stuttering or slowdowns. It did crash once but that was an isolated incident, it was user error as I was running a modded Luanti (Minetest) game in the background.

Keeps crashing on start-up; can't get passed trying to verify the download. This is the only app I have that even worries about verifying the download, so I have to think that's the issue. It really needs to be fixed, either way. July 2025: Now it doesn't even do that. it starts up, flickers, then exits. Surely Disney can afford to keep a dev team on it for basic bug fixes. Sheesh.

I'm pretty impressed - this game came out when I was a teenager, and here it is on my phone 20 years later! That said, I highly recommend that as a player you should look into getting a separate controller or something like that for the game. It is touch-friendly, but my massive sausage fingers struggle to find the right button once in a while. This means that instead of attacking, I'll accidentally send someone to unlock a door behind the enemy or try to loot mid-combat. Otherwise, few bugs.

I love this game! I've played it on and off since like 2004, and this is a pretty decent port of the original Xbox game. 4 stars because when you start a conversation the subtitles don't pop up until the second line of dialogue, which wouldn't be an issue if some of the NPCs didn't speak in an alien language. Thus, you kinda have to guess what they're saying, contextually, if you've never played before (or if you're in your 30s now and have forgotten like me)

I really loved the KOTOR games on xbox, and the second one (The Sith Lords) has been a blast on this mobile platform. But this one is riddled with issues. Without spoiling the plot, there are instances where the screen goes black after cutscenes, and you can not progress in the story without completing very specific tasks. Just got to take a shot in the dark and hope for the best. Currently cannot progress past the first planet because of this very issue.

Great game. Solid port but currently experiencing a bug where subtitles are not showing up reliably. Sam, English voice dialogue has subtitles. Some does not, and the same goes for alien voiced dialogue as well... Which as I'm sure you can imagine in a dialogue heavy game such as KOTOR, can be frustrating. Will happily re-update my review back up to five stars once this bug is patched.

I know that from reviews (not this port), this game is one the best out there. Unfortunately this mobile port doesn't do the game justice. Seems some bugs and old control methods have never been, and will likely never be fixed. In my case the game slows down to 1fps whenever I load a new area. I either have to turn the screen off and on, or switch tabs and go back in-game, Everytime, which frankly, doesn't make me want to play this port again, and I have Snap8 Gen 2. Don't recommend port.

An overall good port, but marred by glitches from the original that were not fixed (despite fans having done so years ago on their own). Most were annoyances and did not affect my ability to complete the game (could not finish one companion quest, another wouldn't trigger at all, random crashes on Yavin, etc.). One, which causes Jolee's force points to drop extremely low at high levels (24, while my PC's were 250-plus) made the final mission less fun than it would have been otherwise.

To set things straight, KOTOR is one of the best Star Wars games to exist, it's a 6 out of 5. However this port is poor as an understatement. The dialogue subtitles are always missing at start of conversation, so if you are talking to a species that doesn't speak basic, you'll have no idea what's being said. Dialogue is important in story driven RPGs. The movement controls are also terrible. Racing and space battles are almost unplayable. Just go buy the game on PC/xbox.
