Reviews for Super Meat Boy Forever

Not a game for everyone, the difficulty is high, but so is the payoff. If you wish to purchase this game, know that it's not gonna be easy to 100% it, and most levels require trial and error. Trust me, you'll feel amazing after beating a level you're stuck on. And, if you're getting frustrated, take a break and clear your head. The one bad part of Super Meat Boy Forever is the fact you are given little to no time to react to danger.

I'm one of the old Newground/McMillan fans, so I'd held off on getting this, knowing he isn't attached to the Meatboy franchise anymore(plus reviews seemed pretty mediocre for this on Steam), but I've got to say this truly does bring me back to the old Newgrounds days. Perhaps it doesn't hold out in some ways on PC when comparing it to the first game, but this is a perfect phone game... begs the question why it took so long for this port, but for it only being $1 I'll shut the hell up.

So this is a good game and it is a good time killer...however I have a couple of issues. The game randomly lags and it speeds up the game after the lag, Sometimes I could hit the pause button and it wouldn't pause, you could to the punch in mid air (Which requires another tap after the jump) and they just won't punch. But other than those issues its a great game overall.

First time playing a game from this franchise, having a great time. The movement is super satisfying. The game's UI starts to glitch when you're in a level for a certain amount of time. There's also colored rectangles that randomly appear. It can only be fixed by re-entering the world. ETA: Turns out that it was warp zones that caused it.

I'm a big fan of the original Super Meat Boy, and the development story. This is a fantastic follow up to the original! The endless running simplifies Meat Boy to W-key physics, but does well to stay true to the original difficulty scale.

Update, frame rate itself sets to 30 FPS mid level and you have to manually set it to 60 but it resets itself, game gets sluggish and hard to play. Removed a star for that. Stopped playing games on mobile, and it's been years. Downloaded this, it's a bit difficult but I love challenges, what's fun in completing a game in one setting.. Game looks very finished and polished. Cheers.

Great game! The difficulty is painful but that adds to the fun! I only have one issue and it's not with the game. I have an issue with whoever made that boss in the portal level of The Lab, called "Mega Bandage". This boss is so insane, it feels like it knows my next move. The only way I've ever gotten close to beating it was by purposely randomizing my movement techniques. If I do the same technique twice the boss catches on and throws a razor in anticipation. Did y'all make that boss sentient?

When i bought the game, i thought it would be the normaö game and not the siderunner. Personally i hate siderunners but this game is just a good game. The game got cool cutscenes, nice gameplay and lots of cool mechanics. I have encounteren no bugs trough out the game and i think that you should give the game a try if you have some spare money. Only thing i didnt like is that there is no fullscreen and just a nice looking border on the side, otherwise play the game its just great

I was initially disappointed to realise it's an auto runner, but the game is much better than I thought it would be and the gameplay works well. There is one major issue though and that is the framerate cap will change itself to 30 for seemingly no reason. So every so often I've had to dip back into settings to fix it.

At first i kind of expected it to be a boring runner game but not for long since the difficulty built up quickly. The controls are easy and since there arent any buttons you can see everything on the screen and it feels a lot more clean. The cutscenes are also fun addition to the game that also shows the player the MC characteristics, and it shows the character isn't bland. It's clear that a lot of love was put into the game. Other than that, you should add restart level next to the pause button

First of all, this is an auto runner type of game. I loved the original and while it's not a "true successor" to the first one in terms of gameplay. This is easily the best auto runner game I've played on a mobile. The difficulty is there and starts to ramp up quickly. You'll get those hard spots where you'll constantly die (and you will die, a lot). But it also has the "one more try" mentality while at the same time being able to play in short sessions without having to commit. Amazing game

Exceptional value for money. I didn't realise it was a run style game, but I am very pleased with the low cost I paid and just how much game you are given! No add-ons, no sign-ups, offline playability no advertisements. This is mobile gaming at its finest. There are very minor hiccups now and again, but it really is very minor.

Fun and easy to pick up. A decent enough entry for MB/SMB fans, but the checkpoint system is abysmal. I cannot tell you how many deaths Ive had simply bc a checkpoint keeps spawning me *just* that bit too far to make that *perfect* jump. Iykyk. The maps are fun, I didn't particularly understand the art approach to the story or backgrounds but it isn't terrible imo. I still think it's a worthy entry esp for 1.39. If the Chp syst was tweaked, would be a 4/5

Absolute blast of a game, great time killer and even better of a challenge. The game has quite the learning curve but an even better pay off. My one complaint is no way to reset a level automatically when doing s rank attempts instead having to pause and hit the reset button I think an option in the gameplay settings similar to the Speedrun timer to toggle would be great. It's a small nitpick but it would be a nice quality of life change for completionist of the game as I am trying to 100% it.

I usually find platformers aggravating and unrewarding, it's why I've become addicted to rougelike games, but this game is easily just as fun as Mario, except it doesn't cost $500 just to be able to play it, Cheap, Simple Controls, Soundtrack and sound effects are S rank and it doesn't pander its difficulty to the ridiculous ease of today's video games, Incredible job guys and gals, Games for Gamers instead of Profit and you can never go wrong

Most if not all of the biggest issues I'm seeing in the critical reviews seem to have been fixed. I have not gotten into a death loop and my camera has not yet gotten stuck in one position. The game still is not full screen *but* they added a cute little border with a bunch of little meat boys in various poses. Much more visually appealing than black bars on either side of the screen.

The moment I heard this was on Android, I jumped to buy it. But if I'm honest, it's not what I was hoping for. SMB was a brutal platformer that rewarded perseverance. Forever is just Mario Run with "red paint" and buzzsaws. Would be great to be able to control Meat Boy. Maybe the Original game can be brought to devices other than the dead Shield platform...

Super Meat Boy Forever is a fun game no doubt, however, due to the levels being procedurally generated, getting perfect times is either outright impossible or extremely difficult. Questionable difficulty aside, if you're a fan of games like Geometry Dash or Mario Run, then this game is right up your alley, personally, it's just not my thing, especially since I'm OCD and not getting perfect scores bothers me.

Really enjoyed this on Switch. On mobile, the game will occasionally freeze for a second. This is pretty bad for a game like this, but it's especially painful when it happens on a deathless attempt. Also, I'm pretty certain I got a seed without a warp zone in The Lab. The latest patch notes say this was fixed, but after running through all 12 levels at least a dozen times, the best I can find are areas where it looks like a warp SHOULD be. Addicting, fun game, but there are more bugs to fix.

The best $1 I've spent for a game. The game is super fun and lots of replayability. Some fixes I'd make to the game is maybe trying to fix the random lag spikes. They're not frequent, but they happen. They sometimes crash the game. Another thing I'd add is a pop-up for skipping a cutscene to prevent accidental skips. I may have accidentally skipped the entire ending cutscene. I would recommend this game for people who don't want to play omega kaizo super mario world levels.
