Really superior to any other 'escape room' kinda game. This is in a league of its own. It is hard enough to where you feel a sense of accomplishment, but not so hard that it's aggregating. There are (free) hints if you get stuck. And the hints don't just point you to the answers but guide you. I will buy every other game there is in this series and any other like it from the developer. These games and puzzles actually make sense.
Reviews for The Room
← Back to The RoomWell worth the money. Some of the difficulty in the puzzles comes from the poor lighting and limited visibility on a small screen. Perhaps that is part of the charm. Once you find each clue, it is usually pretty obvious what to do with it. The game is fun and engaging. There are hints available that are just enough without being spoilers. No ads.... Not even for the hints. I would definitely consider buying some of their other apps.
Tough puzzle game with quirky clues... sometimes leaving me wandering around for lengthy periods trying to process what I'm seeing, how I need to look at things differently. Then as I start getting familiar with puzzle quirks I come to the end. I practically played none stop from beginning thru the end. I was so intrigued and wanting to see what direction the game would go next. And too, disappointed that the entertainment had to come to an end.
The exact opposite of the typical Room Escape game; instead of trying to get out, you're trying to get /in/ -- into increasingly small boxes. Delightful puzzles, very helpful hints (that don't just give away the puzzle), and a beautiful aesthetic and mystery that totally draw you in! It's a little spooky, so be prepared for that!
Yep, not much bad to say about this one. This game is a level of sophistication above most others of this genre. The sound effects and music created a nice suspense/creepy vibe, the puzzles were varied, interesting and challenging, and it was visually stunning. There were two minor issues worth mentioning. Firstly, there is a point where you pick up a gear and place it into a mechanism. I found that if I restart the game, I could pick up that same gear again, even though it wasn't visually present. I could then place it into the mechanism, on top of the previous one. Secondly, I accidentally hit the Hint button twice. I'd prefer if it were laid out differently to make that less likely. These are minor issues, however, and do not detract from the game at all. Just an awesome game.
Thought the game had great atmosphere, enjoyed the little hints of story littered throughout, but I personally found it a little too easy and way too short. Considering it was only $1, that's not that bad. However, I feel since this is the first in a series, it should have been free as a better hook. Now I'm just nervous about buying the others. The prices only increase and I have no way of knowing if the game length increases with it. $5 for the same game length would be much too expensive.
I've played a lot of these Myst-style puzzle games - including Myst - although this is the first on the Android platform that I've ever payed for. I need to spend my money wisely, as I am disabled and on a very fixed-income. Turns out it was money very well spent. This game is utterly enthralling, with a story that, while admittedly covering some well-traveled ground for the genre, is still intriguing enough to keep me rather invested. The puzzles are clever, logical and intricate. Sequels ahoy!
Wow! This is an incredible value for a dollar. It's pretty short, but there's some really neat stuff and incredible visuals packed into a day or two of off-and-on gameplay. If you're familiar with puzzle terminology, The Room features a series of "procedural discovery" puzzle boxes, meaning all the tools and clues needed to succeed are revealed by the box itself through a series of sub-puzzles. If you get stuck, it's simply because you haven't found something hidden elsewhere in or on the box. If you're still stumped, a series of hints are offered for each step, which point you in the right direction without spoiling the solution completely. Although I encountered a couple instances where textures were blurry or pixellated, the 3D graphics are superb for the most part, and present a very immersive experience. There was one point where I got really stuck even after revealing all 3 hints, and it turned out to be a problem with a combination lock. I had already entered the correct combo, but for some reason had to clear and re-enter it to get the game to register it. For this I can't give it a full 5 stars, but I still heartily recommend the game.
I have played several mystery type puzzle games...but this is by far the most awesome game ever. From just reading the reviews and watching the video, I purchased it right away. OMG! The 3D graphics and the way you maneuver around the box it amazing! The game is quite challenging.... I may have to walk away from it for a bit cuz I'm stuck...but when I go back I figure the next step or find a missing piece. I absolutely love it! Cant wait to play the other games. Hats Off to the Developers. 👍
The Room is an interesting puzzle game, feeling almost like a reverse escape room, where you're breaking into something rather than escaping a room. It had clever puzzle mechanics, and it never veered towards becoming thoroughly unreasonable or requiring a walkthrough. It didn't entirely "hit" for me, though, as there are many instances where I felt like I was simply clicking around until I found something I could do to make progress, without having a clear plan or intuitive connection.
For a dollar it's a great game, puzzle, and purchase. Is it the best puzzle ever...no but it gets your brain working. I'd say the first "chapter" or 2 are perfect but then it gets to a non user friendly place after that, in terms of knowing what you can or can't interact with. Blah blah blah I'm dumb and I needed hints to solve the last half of the game.
5+ stars hands down! Best escape room games EVER! I have played them all, and can never get bored of them! Partly because there's so much to do in each chapter of each game that I can't remember it all. Highly recommend! It is worth the money! I can't wait to buy the next escape room release! Developers: You are doing an amazing job! Thank you for all your hardwork you put into these games! You deserve the biggest shoutout!
An unparalleled experience in puzzle games, The Room is almost without equal. If you're hesitant to spend money on games not knowing whether they'll deliver as promised, no worries here. The Room offers unique & challenging puzzles, stylish graphics and hypnotic ambiance. It's a definite "game changer" that's well worth the price of admission.
Guess I've never left a review. What can I say. Amazing interactive puzzle game. One thing leads to the next and back to the beginning and what not. Constant thinking. There are clues if you are lost. Great puzzle game. Can be beaten in 2 hrs I believe was my fastest time. And yeah it can be played multiple times. I'm on my 7th atm after taking years off. I'll be playing the next 3 games over also. There is an epilog so more after game
Good puzzles, mostly not too hard or easy. A couple were really tough. Some were a bit annoying cuz you have to be in perfect position, or you check the hints and it tells you to do exactly what you are already doing and it's just at slightly the wrong angle. Overall a fun short game, worth the purchase. Really liked the epilogue (it crashed when it was trying to play it, but did fine on reopening), I think it's the best part of the game actually
I actually picked this up after finishing the VR one on my mom's oculus and just, man, this group is damned good. there's just enough story to make you curious without over explaining, and the puzzles are fantastic. the hints are helpful if you get lost (I saw the visual disturbance. how did I not realize that?!) and it's just so well put together. the way the VR one ended makes me worry they plan to stop. hope not cause this was great.
Awesome game. I love the unique take on puzzling. It's challenging, satisfying and makes you think "outside the box" sometimes. I gladly spent the small price on the experience. It would have earned the 5-star rating if it were a bit longer and the story were more immersive. Overall, I have to say this is supreme mobile gaming quality. Please make more of this!!! Big thanks to the creators!
Very Short Game Expected Way More!! for $1 it's okay but really did not expect it to be so short. If this was a book at 3 chapters it really wouldn't pass as a book nor should this pass as a complete game. It seems that the developer has developed a multitude of "The Room(1,2,3,4)" games that progressively get more expensive in cost in chronological order. It is obvious that it is a single " The Room" game that has been chopped up into several different editions to create more products to buy.
It's been a while since a game got me hooked. The visual details along with puzzles have just the right amount of interest and difficulty. The hints are helpful if you find yourself in a jam but you can usually figure things out on your own. This was my first "The Room" game and I got the Old Sins version after that; moving onto The Room Two next. These are definitely worth paying for - kudos to the developers!
A really fun game! I love that you can get a hint that doesnt just say what the answer is. You get 3.5 "chapters" or levels. I bought this game last night and finished it today. I dont often spend money on games but when I do I dont expect to completely finish the objectives in less than 24 hours. There's more of these games that could've all been in one app definitely a money grab.
