Really superior to any other 'escape room' kinda game. This is in a league of its own. It is hard enough to where you feel a sense of accomplishment, but not so hard that it's aggregating. There are (free) hints if you get stuck. And the hints don't just point you to the answers but guide you. I will buy every other game there is in this series and any other like it from the developer. These games and puzzles actually make sense.
Reviews for The Room
Well worth the money. Some of the difficulty in the puzzles comes from the poor lighting and limited visibility on a small screen. Perhaps that is part of the charm. Once you find each clue, it is usually pretty obvious what to do with it. The game is fun and engaging. There are hints available that are just enough without being spoilers. No ads.... Not even for the hints. I would definitely consider buying some of their other apps.
Tough puzzle game with quirky clues... sometimes leaving me wandering around for lengthy periods trying to process what I'm seeing, how I need to look at things differently. Then as I start getting familiar with puzzle quirks I come to the end. I practically played none stop from beginning thru the end. I was so intrigued and wanting to see what direction the game would go next. And too, disappointed that the entertainment had to come to an end.
The exact opposite of the typical Room Escape game; instead of trying to get out, you're trying to get /in/ -- into increasingly small boxes. Delightful puzzles, very helpful hints (that don't just give away the puzzle), and a beautiful aesthetic and mystery that totally draw you in! It's a little spooky, so be prepared for that!
Yep, not much bad to say about this one. This game is a level of sophistication above most others of this genre. The sound effects and music created a nice suspense/creepy vibe, the puzzles were varied, interesting and challenging, and it was visually stunning. There were two minor issues worth mentioning. Firstly, there is a point where you pick up a gear and place it into a mechanism. I found that if I restart the game, I could pick up that same gear again, even though it wasn't visually present. I could then place it into the mechanism, on top of the previous one. Secondly, I accidentally hit the Hint button twice. I'd prefer if it were laid out differently to make that less likely. These are minor issues, however, and do not detract from the game at all. Just an awesome game.
Thought the game had great atmosphere, enjoyed the little hints of story littered throughout, but I personally found it a little too easy and way too short. Considering it was only $1, that's not that bad. However, I feel since this is the first in a series, it should have been free as a better hook. Now I'm just nervous about buying the others. The prices only increase and I have no way of knowing if the game length increases with it. $5 for the same game length would be much too expensive.
I've played a lot of these Myst-style puzzle games - including Myst - although this is the first on the Android platform that I've ever payed for. I need to spend my money wisely, as I am disabled and on a very fixed-income. Turns out it was money very well spent. This game is utterly enthralling, with a story that, while admittedly covering some well-traveled ground for the genre, is still intriguing enough to keep me rather invested. The puzzles are clever, logical and intricate. Sequels ahoy!
Wow! This is an incredible value for a dollar. It's pretty short, but there's some really neat stuff and incredible visuals packed into a day or two of off-and-on gameplay. If you're familiar with puzzle terminology, The Room features a series of "procedural discovery" puzzle boxes, meaning all the tools and clues needed to succeed are revealed by the box itself through a series of sub-puzzles. If you get stuck, it's simply because you haven't found something hidden elsewhere in or on the box. If you're still stumped, a series of hints are offered for each step, which point you in the right direction without spoiling the solution completely. Although I encountered a couple instances where textures were blurry or pixellated, the 3D graphics are superb for the most part, and present a very immersive experience. There was one point where I got really stuck even after revealing all 3 hints, and it turned out to be a problem with a combination lock. I had already entered the correct combo, but for some reason had to clear and re-enter it to get the game to register it. For this I can't give it a full 5 stars, but I still heartily recommend the game.
I have played several mystery type puzzle games...but this is by far the most awesome game ever. From just reading the reviews and watching the video, I purchased it right away. OMG! The 3D graphics and the way you maneuver around the box it amazing! The game is quite challenging.... I may have to walk away from it for a bit cuz I'm stuck...but when I go back I figure the next step or find a missing piece. I absolutely love it! Cant wait to play the other games. Hats Off to the Developers. 👍
The Room is an interesting puzzle game, feeling almost like a reverse escape room, where you're breaking into something rather than escaping a room. It had clever puzzle mechanics, and it never veered towards becoming thoroughly unreasonable or requiring a walkthrough. It didn't entirely "hit" for me, though, as there are many instances where I felt like I was simply clicking around until I found something I could do to make progress, without having a clear plan or intuitive connection.
