Online system is very flawed and gives even points solely based on player count and not relative to the scores of other players. To be ranked high you don't actually need to be good, just play a lot. Another major issue that has yet to be addressed is that there is no confirmation on picking up extra route cards. I have multiple times pressed the top card and the game thinks I chose to pick new cards. It immediately gives me 3 new cards instead of asking if I am sure like the old app did.
Reviews for Ticket to Ride®
← Back to Ticket to Ride®Great app, but with a few huge flaws. If the app cost money, you should not need to pay more for the other game modes, that's ridiculous! The add ons like characters and trains should be purchasable with points earned from playing and winning games. When you're on your last turn, you should be able to put down pieces wherever you want (and in general also), not just where you're routes are. Also the checks when selecting where to put down trains aren't always in screen
I really enjoyed the last app before it got discontinued. For this one, I wish I could change the background/graphics of the board to match the board game. This looks like a topigraphical map but it makes it difficult to see the routes and colors as easily. My opponent's trains aren't as obvious. There are also some bugs, when I go to place trains on a route sometimes they don't, and then it will randomly draw a card for me. This has caused me to lose turns and lose games. I miss the old one
Not like the real one. I bought the North America version, and unfortunately, it is not like the board game. It has a limited number of "tickets", which makes the game quickly repetitive. It also has a smaller set of "tickets". The game freezes at the end, after or during calculation/showing the longest route. Due to the freeze, when restarting, the failed game occupies one of the five saved slots, forcing the user to delete those games, losing stars, and degrading the player status.
Last week: I absolutely love this game. It's one of the best mobile representations of a board game ever made. The game runs smooth, animations are great, and it just works. Plain and simple. Several days ago we got a new update and since: I've had three games crash and freeze up, and I don't like the new train placement animation. It's harder to see where they put the trains. Adding friends is cool, but I should be able to add before the lobby is public. Give me notifications for 24hr timers.
Thank you for working to make it more like the old, awesome version. The "simplified" version is 1000x better. However, it's still visually too hard to play. The fonts are tiny. The card colors have too much white in them, so the red and orange look too much the same. Dragging cards to tracks is too difficult, and your finger covers up the track you're trying to get too. But the biggest thing, the thing that will still keep me from playing are the tiny fonts. They need to be increased 2 levels.
I played 2 games. First game completed 4 trains but in the final score it only gave credit for 2. It didn't even say I didn't complete the others. It just pretended they never existed. I assume bugs will be fixed, but if you even try playing you need reading glasses. Everything is tiny. Some symbols for your ticket routes cover up where you are trying to go so I almost didn't notice an area that didn't complete the ticket. Not that it mattered since I didn't get credit for half anyway.
Graphics are clunky and slow, it's hard to place your trains, it's hard to keep track of the tickets and the timing for each player is off, though with it being so hard to place tracks, the extra time is useful. If the game needed to be remade, they should have made it better before release. I wish that my previous purchase of the maps would be transfered to the new version since it's unreasonable to pay twice for them. Alas, I'm addicted and will pay for it with hopes for future improvement.
I tried to give the game a fair shake, but the ergonomics are too cumbersome to ignore. Strike zones are small. The round timer is relentless, especially for someone coming over from the old game. Colors are low contrast and hard to recognize. The print is small and difficult to read. The train cars are not easily distinguishable from the routes themselves. It's clear that some effort went into this game, but it is regrettable that the game falls very short in the details that make it enjoyable.
I had to download a totally new version and previous purchases are not available. We keep getting kicked out of a game with friends. So far, this has been a very frustrating experience. It is constantly locking up and/or not fully loading! Need to have ability to invite friends to an ASYNC game. Laying tracks is annoying - often cards go back to bottom after highlights the section chosen. Animation SHOULD be reduced! Forget your NEW PLANNED FEATURES, get what you have right!
The new simplified map does bring back the original map feel. However drawing tickets can be a little cumbersome still (tickets are hard to read and destination markers are small). Also, I can click with my thumb anywhere else on the screen, but not tickets. Picking tickets has to be almost a stylist click. Performance is also much worse as well. Not sure why they discontinued the original, that one was Superior.
I really miss the achievements component of the old version. That's what kept me playing. I only spent a couple bucks on this version and I'm glad- it's not worth the same as the old one. Also, I get why so many developers are jumping on board the AI train (no pun intended), but has anyone stopped to ask whether that's what users really want? Maybe a pre-programmed feel to npc opponents, like in the old version of the TTR app, is what makes a video game feel like a video game.
I was hesitant to purchase again and waited awhile before doing so. I really loved the old app and played it constantly. As for this new version: The simplified map is great. Placing the trains is cumbersome, and I don't like the method used to place. If my finger moves at all before placing it won't place and I can't tell if I've done it properly for awhile because of the long pause. I miss the 1910 version of the US map, which is mostly what I played. We need a ranking system as well.
I'm addicted! w/ a siggestion .. sorry to compare, but a chat feature within the game would be very nice like Words With Friends. switching between text message and the game all the time sucks and sometimes a friend in the game has issues and can't return to the game because of a loading issue or glitch so we wait until the game is over to message each other.
Update: Updates fixed a lot of the original issues. But now seemingly at random the game freezes before it can show the results during online play. Forcing you to stare at the map until you restart the game, and you never learn the results because the game is already at its completion, so you can't rejoin...
The base game is fantastic. It's a shame I have to lower my rating, but the bugs make certain maps completely unplayable in a competitive environment. I have lost way too many turns on Switzerland due to the phantom tunnel bug that needs to be addressed and fixed asap. I've had 6 rainbows in hand and been skipped instead of being allowed to pay the tax, and it's the most frustrating feeling.
Freezes constantly, often once per game. always requires you completely shut the game down, close it and restart to get it working again. After further playing it seems games often lock up completely, and force restarting doesn't help at all. On top of that, the companion app that is supposed to allow you to play with friends doesn't work at all. It freezes on the opening screen every single time and never loads. Please don't waste your money.
2 years after my previous review and I'm still having issues. I'm now getting notified when it's my turn (Wasn't before) so that's good. unfortunately, a majority of the time I tap on the game I'm in to take my turn, the game's broken. all the character portraits are stacked in the corner, and my cards don't display. they say they're constantly working on the game, but that reply was again, 2 years ago. and barely anything has been fixed. it's the main reason I haven't spent the extra $30.
Frequently freezes during online play and the Saved Games dont work so you can't get back to your game if you restart the app. This is a really frustrating bug for all players because if you leave a game, other players have to wait through a long timer for your turn. Despite this crippling bug, it's not 1 star. It's one of the only games of tricky strategy and a little luck, you can't beat other players by paying more money.
Replaces old app that is no longer supported. I get it's a new game studio, using a new game engine and that work should be compensated, but it's a bitter pill to swallow when we have to re-purchase the game and the explanations within. There's also more cosmetic In-app-purchases than before to suck even more money from us. For the game itself; The cards and map are harder busier and harder to read. The colors chosen for certain cards make it harder to distinguish than before. Dissapointing.
