This used to be an excellent game. Then they felt the need to add things, so they added a headache's worth of random nonsense. Several more currencies to collect, more random stupid challenges, nothing that actually made the game better. And they added Titans. possibly the dumbest idea ever put into a game. "how about robots that are infinitely more powerful than everything else and can single handedly swing the game? that'll be fun" no, it isn't. it's stupid.
Reviews for War Robots Multiplayer Battles
← Back to War Robots Multiplayer BattlesIt's a good game, but War Robots has changed from a classic battle mech game to a confusing, mismatched, pay to win game. Machines can now magically appear behind you, are indestructible in many cases, and the competing teams are almost never evenly matched. You have to tap through dozens of windows asking you to make a purchase before you can even play. Worst of all, all of the machines I patiently worked so hard to upgrade over the years are now completely obsolete..
the game has drastically changed to pay to play. it used to be You could buy a little gold, and you could buy anything anyone else could have. but you could earn gold.. the game still require skill. now you need this credit and that credit, and training credits, and upgrade credits, and puzzle pieces for new bots or weapons. if you were gonna spend money, you have to buy like 12 different kinds of in game money. it's gotten a bit out of hand.
This was fun at first, but the more and more I played, the less and less impressed I became. This game is absolutely P2W. Within seconds of me opening the game (after the several minutes it took to load) it immediately started begging me for money. And the more I played, the more I needed to spend, because of how high the skill floor is. Not skill ceiling, skill FLOOR. And it's a P2W "skill" floor at that. In other words, most of the stereotypes for mobile games apply to War Robots. 0/5 garbage.
Still fun game, free play account, when it works. Crashing lots lately and adds are becoming like ransomware. The "free" bought with in game currency is getting better with increased chances of receiving whole weapons/ bots/ modules instead of just components. Has made it more fun to play, thank you. The advertisements for resources takes you out of the game and is like a virus. Matchmaking is still horrible, either hackers, or other. Most games end with one player "winning" by 15 :1.
Kind of frustrating. Levelling up bots and weapons takes a long time, unless you spend gold or watch extra ads. The real deal-breaker for me is the awkward targeting system. The pilot has control of the turret's slew but not its elevation. Elevation is automatically adjusted according to the locked-on target. I keep running into issues where two mechs are relatively close together and I can't engage one of them. Search "Mech Arena" for a superior product IMO.
Quick match no longer tells you what game mode it is & just says "QUICK MATCH" where the current mode is normally displayed when you enter a game, making it difficult to deploy bots strategically for that mode. Putting a cooldown on viewing ads is ridiculous. Sometimes I have no time to dedicate to playing and just want to quickly watch my daily ads & play some other time, but now I can't even do that. From now on you're not getting any more of my money unless rolled back, this is just asinine.
I had this game for years, last two years it just went down hill, yes I don't mind paying to play but there's just too much going on when it comes to what you need to buy, 5 different currencies. that's just greed, also when they introduced new robots, they are impossible to kill untill 3 months later when they nerf them... shame on you guys, it's theft!!! you ruin your game, anyone reading this, there's better pay to play games out there!!
I press the fire button and it lags. Matchmaking is horrible, you have to fight people 2 times stronger than you in 9 out of 10 games. The developers love to steal your money. New robots are Impossible to kill. If you spend money to buy something new, it gets nerfed badly and is useless. I wasted so much time and money on this crooked game. This game is getting worse with each update, and so is the lag and freezing with each new item added..
This game reminds me a lot of the current state of COD... it's a very solid game with great potential. However, Unfortunately it has become largely unenjoyable due to predatory monitozation and unbalanced, "pay to win" aspects. I played this a lot 5-6 years ago but eventually uninstalled it out of frustration. Not much has changed. The main problem is the high turn over of new content. If you don't spend money, for the new content, you will be left behind.
Hard to rate fairly. Many years playing but it's skewed 2 wallet warriors who don't necessarily know how to play, treat it like Unreal. Visually there's ALOT going on, perhaps too much . Mega dmg can make matches VERY fast, too fast. Too many currencies and updates IMO. All that being said, I still play because I've invested serious time as you'll have 2 regardless. Reaching the top, getting best things will require $$ period. frequent updates, new weapons, etc. some connectivity issues.
There is a delay when switching between touchscreen and a trackball, making using both tactically infeasible. Won't link with my Twitch account. Sometimes, it will fail to credit for adverts, or will let you view one when it shouldn't. On my device, following an advert too much then unloads WR from memory, i.e seems like more often than other games. No customer support for problems I had, and I will never buy subscriptions again. Overall, though, I typically have fun playing it!
Dont wast money here or buy anything. just collect for free. My cost thrown away to this game was over $1,800.00 And Honestly feel like a sucker in buying so much for soo little. The only way to advance is to keep giving $$$. Just a fair warning from me that had this game since 2019. anything you purchase and later want to sell, regardless the amount of upgrades invested. just keep it. 25% of the cost is your return.
I really want to like this game but it's horrible. I spent 2 weeks getting resources to unlock a robot that looked really good. First 2 games I played it gets destroyed in a mater of seconds by someone with the latest and greatest robot that I will never be able to obtain. This is the most pay to win game I have ever experienced. The battles are so one sided. Not good at all no redeeming qualitys. I place first on the Leader board in 4 difrent categories didn't even get 1 weapon just some parts.
A lot of games are p2w, so I dont care as much about it, although it is kinda excessive in this game. My problem is everything being too weak to enjoy outside the meta. It is just pretty boring not being able to have a variety of equipment because none of it can compare to the new p2w stuff. I'm very disappointed. I used to love this game. I hope netease buys wr because at least they know how to do balance changes.
Too many ads and the ones with the heavy wallet have a ridiculous advantage. The game has potential if the P2W wasn't so drastic. Matches are 10 minutes but you spend half of the match just trying to reach the fighting area as the robots are way too slow. Even if you cave in a little to the ads and watch them to speed up the crazy long time upgrades it still doesn't work, it does't speed up the upgrade. Yes, you can play for free but it is 20 times harder to do anything.
I decided to get back on after a while, y'know, give the game a chance. It sucks. Genuinely. This is the worst game I've ever played. I used to love this game, I played it all the time, but now it's completely pay-to-win. Titans shouldn't be in the game, every single mech is big, now it's just even more pay-to-win. The tutorial holds your hand and won't just shut up and let me play the game. And there's no ranking system, I'm in level 1 mechs and am having to fight level 8 mechs. Why?
from opening the app, it takes no fewer than 16 taps (I counted) to close enough popups JUST to reach the main menu. I'm not kidding or exaggerating. nearly 2 dozen different attempts are made to ask the player for money before you are even able to queue into a match. if you're looking for a phone game you can quickly pull out to pass a few minutes, I'd strongly recommend looking elsewhere. This game is so full of pay2win content that it literally inhibits you from being able to play.
Regardless of the cool factor the game has the reality is that unless you're willing to pay and pay and pay you're just left behind driving the Cossack or other low level robot. Pitted against players who'll spend big money to get the most expensive one shot one kill robot is frustrating and not worth me spending the time to play. A lesson in frustration.
Heavily pay2win. If you're looking for a free experience, it just takes more time to progress (i.e. better mechs, weapons, and upgrades for them). After leveling up a bit, you can battle bots instead of real players. Most of my experience playing real players is me losing because everyone else has insane mech builds that annihilate the battlefield. There are multiple game modes so you don't have to do the same thing over and over again. I wish you could change mech skills like you can weapons.
