I really want to like this game. mobile version of kill team with the ability to build lists like the tabletop? sounds great! but I cant shake the feeling of having my time wasted. first of all any game with an energy mechanic doesn't want you to play it, it wants to become a habit by forcing you to check in every so often. second, in my experience so far tactics aren't as important as character power levels. it may be possible to have fun here but you'll need to fight through the monitization.
Reviews for Warhammer 40,000: Tacticus ™
Good game, plenty of content with a good roaster of units. I really like this game however, it is not a very giving game. sadly one of the least giving phone games i have played. what is a real shame. getting currency for pull on units is far between and can feel like they are trying to back you in a corner to pay to win. would give it a 5 star if it was not for that very frustrating.
Too bad the base game is fun and keeping me coming back as basic operations are having trouble - as you can tell from this post I do in fact have Internet access. Typically confusing mobile game. This one also offers fake out ad watch options which just trap you in another game until you force quit this one, giving them a free ad with no reward for the player.
I've been thoroughly enjoying this game for quite some time; its really the only mobile game I play consistently, and for good reason. The only reason it can't be five stars is monetization. There is the potential for huge benefits when spending money, but you'll probably have to spend lots of it before the investment shows a turnaround. While Snowprint is already working toward a better, more rewarding system, it isn't quite there yet.
so, turns out if you don't pay for the Commissar Yarrik upgrade early when you start, you'll never get him later. so this game will cost you $7.99 right off the bat if you're a completionist pretty good so far, turned based tactics in the wh40k universe. the art is very well rendered and the storylines are interesting. but if you want to excell in pvp you'll have to pay $$$.
the game is fun and all but in multiple occasions you are forced to use the (Bad) starting three units only against enemies that can 1-3 shot all of the starting three making the later level a loop of using the blue capsules, making 1 wrong move and having to restart the mission and doing the same thing over and over again making the loop unfun and only making me not want you play nor put time into the game.
Well, I don't know what happened to me, or perhaps they made certain aspects quicker to achieve (I know they made building a character's base stars easier for certain,) but I absolutely adore this game again. It actually got me back into the lore as well, which hasn't happened in a fair few years. For the City of Light!
This is fine enough as a gatcha game. Because of how the game is designed, you will either be overpowered or getting stomped like an ant. The reason I give 1 star is because of how Indomitus Mirror Campaign is handled. Every other campaign you can have a team that just means the bare minimum requirements to beat it and have an easy enough time. Indomitus Mirror? It REQUIRES you to over invest in your Necrons. The big issue is with how overpowered the enemy snipers are. 1/5 until fixed.
Pros: Attention to lore, many playable factions, engaging tactical play, able to play in short games, "playable" as free. Cons: progress without paying is incredibly slow, with limited access to characters and upgrades. Even IF you are paying the game can be incredibly grinding taking up large amounts of time to do well. Also, "paying" is quite exspensive and there are no shortage of things to over-pay for. Basically a hobby all by itself. Upper levels of play are super competitive.
After playing the game for a longer period, I'm editing my original post. They need to create a wishlist of characters to increase the chances of getting heroes that will allow you to progress through the game or adjust to the current meta. I have been stuck for a while now due to summoning characters that haven't allowed me to progress past the initial imperial campaign. Very pay-to-win and not worth downloading.
