I've completed over 2000 levels, paid for no forced ads, and play every day with my wife. I'm increasingly frustrated that the Zen Tournament is always packed with NPCs. I complete a level, they complete a level or two. I pause, they pause. Playing against a computer I cannot make progress against defeats the purpose of setting up a tournament. At some point, they stop progressing as I keep playing but when you're already 50 or 100 levels behind, a few hours left is not enough time to catch up.

Well, I like everything about this game except that the word choices are inconsistent. Sometimes proper names are allowed, sometimes not: "Erica" is valid, "Tom" is not. Some valid words are not allowed, and some of the slang and abbreviations allowed are just silly. Many obscure words included, which is kind of interesting, especially since there's a feature that allows you to read definitions. But really, proper names that have no other meaning and abbreviations should not be included.

Part of the premise here is to get consecutive words right, whether list words or bonus words, and the points you get for each word increments by 1 point until you make a mistake and the points you get resets to 1. The problem is there are a massive number of words you'd find in a dictionary that this app does not recognize as real words (I'm not talking about names or slang or abbreviations). You pretty much have to be psychic to consistently get good scores. Oh, and ads after every level. Lame

Game has started doing auto-fill in my puzzles and I have tried numerous times and ways to get through to support and ask how to stop it but I can't get to a screen that will allow me to ask - lousy support system!!! Fun game but there are so many games available and I can easily find one that is more challenging and easier to interface with. 😖

Loved it, but there are so many issues now. For some reason, it's not recognizing simple words. Just now, it didn't recognize the word "here." It's no longer recognizing other words too like ice, pot, etc. Recognizes died, but not die or dead. It always used to...what gives? The letter scrambler being moved to the center of the wheel is very distracting as well. Seems there's constant changes lately, none of them good. Yeah, it's time to uninstall, I'm done.

I really enjoyed this game when I first started playing. I purchased the ad free version b/c the endless ads drove me nuts. The number of legitimate words which are rejected is truly frustrating. I was just playing & had ”fund", "rape" & "die" rejected. While there has been an improvement in the variety of words used in the puzzles, I'm tired of real words being rejected.

Fed up with the increase in ads and moving on. Downloaded a while ago and it was fun and kept me wanting to play more. I knew it was a free game and that there were popup ads but that didn't bother me at first. The ads were basically waiting five seconds and clicking the "X" and you were on to the next level. Now I have to click through four screens, waiting each time, and even more annoying is the ads have reduced the "X" size and force you to click on the ad or go to the play store.

I've enjoyed this game for a long time. The ads haven't been too bad, they can/should always be less and less the more a person has played. My big problem is that recently I get a pop up for "Extra Words" in the middle of playing. It covers the puzzle, very annoying! I've tried to report this through the in app support section, but it won't open after many attempts. Please fix these issues soon. This was an enjoyable game being ruined.

Downloaded as a time killer and to sharpen my cog skills. I'm at level 4300 or so. The game is sometimes repetitive using the same letters/ words a bit too often. The ads are ridiculous. There are at least 4 between each puzzle and they are all scams. I should've deleted a long time ago but it's addictive. They're aren't real instructions even as advanced as I am in the game I have no idea how the tournament points are achieved. I've not made any purchases.

Six months ago, I could complete the daily games in about 16-18 levels. It was doable and I got my daily firecracker. Now it is 26-28 levels; complete with an ad after each level! No longer worth it. Addendum: I know reason for ads. But fixing something that isn't broken, and then needing more ads to pay for the unneeded fix is shameful. Now, I have to complete over 50% more levels to simply earn the day's rewards. 50% more levels means 50% more ads. Neither are needed. Shameful.

Very entertaining. However, they lack word continuity (words you use in one won't necessarily count as words in a later puzzle with the same letters). It's very annoying. As others have said, your tips and such will automatically get used if you step away from the game for a few seconds. For those of you who use hints, it's going to annoy you. Ads can use extreme overhaul. Ads glitch and won't play = you won't get ad-given perks. 2 stars until both continuity and ad glitches are fixed.

The game is fun, as I like playing with words and puzzles. However, lately I've been getting the same puzzles over and over. I've cleared the cache but not the data, several times. Also (for unrelated reasons) restarted my phone at least once. I'll raise the rating if this issue is solved; at the moment it's a disappointment.

I have a reasonably new phone and a fast connection, but after 30 minutes of play, I am deleting this game. The lag is maddening! You swipe a couple of letters, and the game freezes mid-word! This happened very frequently. I also experienced ads which were just a black screen that forced me to reboot the game. Frustrating, not fun!

The game advertises itself on other games as having "no annoying ads," and for the first two chapters, the only ad you see is a banner app on the bottom. When you enter chapter 3, though, the game hits you with an ad after every level, and says you can pay to remove ads. This is false advertising, and should not be allowed on the Play Store.

This is my go to casual F2P game that keeps me sharper when playing the Scrabble board game with my partner. I enjoy playing this on the daily. A few ideas that would make this app better for me: a player dictionary of all the words we've found (a lot of times I don't know the last word in a puzzle, and I can't see what it means as the level ends), then a word counter for how many times we've played that word. Also, I close and reload app between levels to avoid ads. It's literally quicker.

Just got it today so of course it's easy to begin with, but so far they've kept their word about no ads. Edit: I barely got to about level fifteen and the ads started showing up. I absolutely despise companies who lie, whether it's by showing an ad for the game that is nothing like the game or telling you that there are no ads and then immediately putting out ads. So I probably won't keep playing it for very long.

I understand the ads for free play, but this game has ads after every single round. some of them, such as Nike, have no way out of the ad other than closing the game and reopening it. Even with that, though, I would give it 5 stars if it tracked statistics for the accumulation of unique words. I would love a word game that had this feature.

I reinstalled the game after the creators claimed they were going to reduce the number of ads. if anything, the ads have gotten worse. you clear a level and bam, another ad. on occasion an ad would pop up as I was playing a level. uninstalling again. Other games advertised zen word as being ad free...that is a flat out lie. I want a fun game that is good for leisure, not one spammed with ads.

Downloaded the game because they promised there were "no ads." There were no ads playing it the first day and then the second day it's like a popup ad every few seconds. I understand devs need to make money for their hard work but the promise of no ads being a blatant lie makes me not want to support the game. The best games are the ones that are free where you can watch an ad for extra rewards, or there's an ad banner at the top/bottom of the screen.

The ads are out of control! This game was fun but the amount of ads is ridiculous. I paid for the ad free version but every time I use a bonus to get a letter it takes you to a 30 second ad, the another page for 5 seconds, and a 3rd page for another few seconds before you can exit. Now it is forcing you to go to the play store before you can get back to the game. They have ruined the game. Looking for another option. Don't download this game.
