So here's my honest take on Soundstorm for Hue. I've tested a bunch of smart home apps and this one's pretty solid. The music syncing works really well and the different lighting modes are fun to mess around with. And i will say the setup can be a little tricky if you're not familiar with Hue, but the app walks you through it. Personally, I think the custom themes are the best part - you can make your lights do all kinds of cool stuff. The only downside is the Music Visualizer isn't perfect, but it's still a neat feature. Overall, if you're looking to add some atmosphere to your music and don't mind a little tinkering, I'd recommend giving Soundstorm a try.

Description

Been using Soundstorm for Hue for a couple months now. It’s basically an app that lets you sync your Philips Hue smart lights to your music. Pretty cool if you’re into that kind of thing.

Here’s what you do: you can choose different modes like Music Visualizer, Strobe, Color Loop, and more. The lights change colors and pulse along with your tunes. There’s also a Playlist mode that cycles through the different effects. Took me a while to figure out how to make my own custom color themes, but it’s a useful feature once you get the hang of it.

Look, if you like playing around with smart home tech and want to add some cool lighting effects to your music, you’ll probably like this app. It’s not perfect – the Music Visualizer can be a bit finicky if your room is noisy – but overall it does the job. Worth checking out.
