So here's my honest take on liveBPM - Beat Detector. I've tested a bunch of music apps and this one's pretty solid. The beat detection is generally accurate, though it can get a bit confused in certain situations. But it's easy to use and the UI is clean. Not as feature-packed as some pro-level apps, but it gets the job done well enough for most casual users. I'd recommend it if you need a simple tool to check tempos.

Pros

  • Easy to use with a clean interface
  • Accurate beat detection in most cases
  • Handy history graph to see tempo changes
  • Free to download and use
  • Works well for a variety of music genres

Cons

  • Beat detection can be a bit spotty in noisy environments
  • Doesn't have advanced features like tapping the beat
  • Ads can be annoying if you don't pay to remove them
  • May not be powerful enough for professional musicians

Description

I’ve been using liveBPM – Beat Detector for a couple months now. It’s basically an app that can detect the tempo of music playing around you and show you the beats per minute (BPM). Pretty solid app if you’re into music production, DJing, or just nerding out over beats.

Here’s what you do: you just open the app, it’ll start listening through your phone’s mic, and it’ll constantly display the current BPM. There’s also a history graph that shows the tempo over time, which is pretty cool. And you can tap a button to get the average BPM for the last little while – took me a while to figure that out but it’s useful.

Look, if you’re a drummer, musician, or just into that kind of thing, you’ll probably like this. It’s not perfect – the beat detection can be a little wonky sometimes – but overall it does the job. Worth checking out if you need a simple BPM monitor.
