Reviews for Barclays US

← Back to Barclays US

I live overseas and travel frequently. This app is so concerned about my 'security' it's become completely unusable. At first it was extra steps to login, now, I get a 'locked account' notification whenever I try, and if I take the time to call to unlock, I'm told it's not locked and the customer service has no clue what the issue is. Thanks for protecting me out of being able to easily access, Barclays. When I could access the app, it was fine.

Fingerprint login stops working every other day "due to a recent update", and when making a payment, you don't have a pre-filled option to pay off the *current* balance. Only options are statement balance, minimum payment, or a custom amount. If you want to pay all of the current balance, you have to memorize or write it down, then enter it as a custom amount. Mild inconvenience I know, but every other banking app gives you a quick option to pay your balance in full at any time of the month.

First the bad: if I have repeat payments on but want to pay off the full amount, I shouldn't have to cancel the automatic payment scheduled for 3 weeks from now to pay in full. That should happen automatically. But instead, with only this app for some reason, you need to go see what your automatic payment is and then subtract that from the amount you want to pay or cancel your automatic payment. This needs to be more user friendly For the good, the app runs smooth...

In the 2 ½ years I've had my card and account, I've not been able to get past the login page once. Sometimes I get an error saying the service is unavailable, sometimes it just crashes. Either way, would give no stars if possible. Update: I've reached out to their support team about the error twice since they replied to this review; no response both times. If someone from their Android support actually sees this, please reach out. I'd be more than happy to get this issue resolved 🙃

Overall really good app, but it would be nice if they had a feedback link for bug reporting. The most annoying one at the moment is that I can't actually see my card balance because a big image of the card overlaps the number. I have to add it up from the other numbers. I appreciate that, unlike many other businesses, their "contact us" page is a phone number for reaching real people, but it would would be nice to also offer a quicker feedback option.

Can check basic stuff. I only have credit card with them, so can only review that part. My main issues with the app are 2 things. One is they don't show the points accrued from each transaction in the list. You have to open the transaction one by one to see the points that you get. Annoying. Two is they don't have push notification for when a credit card is being used / charged. They can only send notifications when payment is posted, and they even group it, rendering it very useless. I don't know which charges belong to which, which ones are fraudulent, etc. The notifications system is so bad.

AVOID!!!! The chat feature is no help. The app is clunky. They, without warning, will lower your available credit, even when you have been paying a good amount on the card each month. Oh & when I did talk to the chat feature they said the $700 I paid on my credit card would be available in 10 days, which was a lie because when it did finally come available it was at the same time they lowered my available credit by $500 & charged interest on the card so now I have less then $200 available!!!!!

You can basically look at your balance and pay your bill, but that's it. Anything else almost always requires calling customer support or chatting with an agent which is never timely. I just waited an hour to chat with an agent in the chat thinking it would be faster than calling. I'm literally only trying to get a new bank card, a process that takes me 30 seconds on my Discover account. Very disappointed in the Barclay's App.

I've lost count on how many times I've set up login in with my biometrics to my account. I set them up, but the next time I log in, I get this same error that there's been an update and that I have to configure login in with my biometrics again. It's really annoying. Edit: On top of that, they're asking reviewers to submit a ticket to their Social Media team on X or Facebook. If users are reporting bugs here, you should be passing those on to your engineering team, not asking us to do it.

I have Citi, Wells Fargo, Discover and US Bank. Also Barclays, which is by far the worst credit card I used to have (I just closed my account yesterday). I used it less than other cash rewards cards, because it simply not as good. So BARCLAYS decided to lower by credit limit, WITHOUT prior notice. I have a FICO score well over 800. Apparently, they don't know how to keep good loyal customers with over 10 year relationship. GOOD RIDDANCE!!

Tried to log in to make my payment, and was unable to do so. Kept giving an error message, tried multiple times during the day to log in, but to no avail. Wasn't able to call to make a payment during the day, so woke up at 5am to make my payment the next day and was already charged a late fee. Would give this app 0 star if I could. It has always been glitchy, but at least I was able to log in. Now because of the F**** app, I was charged a late fee.

I like to use my biometrics to login quickly and for the convenience of not having to remember my password. However inspite of enabling it each time I go to the app, it gets turned off after I log off with an error message that they're not able to save my biometrics. It's inconvenient for me and I find it not user-friendly. Update: I received a response from the development team. By reinstalling the latest version, my biometrics login works. Thanks!

Doesn't work! I updated TODAY, so this isn't me trying to use an outdated version. It let me log in, sent the text with the code, I typed it in, went to the next screen. Lots of changing shades, nothing of any value displayed, after several minutes "Something went wrong" appeared and the session was over. This was NOT one time. I am stubborn, so I tried a few times. All had the same result. Great update guys, it used to work fine.

Update 4/29: reaching out on Twitter was incredibly unhelpful. All they told me was how to enable biometrics, which I obviously know or I wouldn't be in this situation in the first place. 3/19: Wish I could log in with my fingerprint more than one consecutive time, but it's always: "Due to a recent Android update, your biometric settings were reset and you will need to log in using your username and password. After logging in, please re-enable your biometric access." even with no recent updates!

The app feels like it's in beta. Each screen loads slowly, shows the name of the screen on the bottom for some reason, and there isn't much of a flow across different features. The purchase notifications are unusable, as the options are declined, all, or none (app only). All sure does get all the notifications. Every notification is a push notification AND an email, and you get a notification at the time of purchase AND when they post later that night (Job seems to run around 10pm Central).

I had this since 2015 when it was good. I forgot when it changed for the worse but doing anything on the app is awful due to the lag. Just checking a transaction takes 7 seconds or more per click to load (I timed it). The lag in scrolling takes at least 5 seconds to catch up and load. Great for setting up auto payments and locking cards but navigation in the app is aggrevating. how is this rated at 4.7 stars... I only see low reviews.

I like Barclaycard and have had the rewards card for 15 years and the American Airlines card 5 years. Both have an easy app to use (the Citi app is even easier). My only gripe with this credit card is the interest rate has never been reduced and is still at the same 28.9% it was in 2011. For that reason I use Capital One Quicksilver card with better rewards. Since I've been with that card 17 years, they have reduced my rate down 1% every year and today it's 13% with 1.5 points per dollar!

I thought this credit card to be OK. After months of having them you will get hit with a few suprises like credit line decreases and temp holds/authorizations on purchases so system messes up and makes it look like there are duplicate purchases. I feel like the costumer service is not helpful at all and they just frustrate you by saying the same thing over and over again without any helpful options to want to keep account open. I do not recommend getting a credit card through this company.

Had to switch to Barclays, since the GM card was sold to them. You can't set up text alerts, when you make a purchase. I spent an hour on chat, then calls, just to be told this function isn't available yet, but it's "coming soon" (maybe two months). Also, I have a red dot, like a notification, on "Credit Card", that won't go away. Barclays response is below my review. The issue...I don't get EMAIL notifications, or else my phone would ding all day! Of course, NO response about the red dot.

The Barclays app used to be good, but not anymore. Whoever messed around with it should be fired. Some screens can easily be read. Other pages the font size is way too big and you don't know who the charge is from. The scrolling feature doesn't work properly to view charges. I'd be better off getting paper statements in the mail again! You also can't redeem points on the app. You can only do so on the actual website. What a waste of an app. ...and yes, I do have Android 12 already on my phone!!
