Group Break Cost Splitter
Running a break means pricing thirty slots that are not worth the same. This splits your cost across teams by checklist weight, adds the margin you want, and shows what the room total comes to.
Even splits do not fill
Price thirty teams identically and the six everyone wants sell in minutes while the rest sit unsold — and a break that does not fill costs the breaker the difference. Weighted pricing is how the room clears: the desirable teams carry more of the cost, and the unpopular ones are cheap enough that somebody takes a flyer.
The floor matters more than the ceiling
A slot priced below the floor is not worth the shipping and admin it generates. Setting a realistic minimum and letting the premium teams absorb the shortfall is what makes a break profitable — and it is why premium multipliers of two to three times are normal rather than greedy.
Questions people ask about this
How do you price slots in a group break?
Weight them by demand rather than splitting evenly. Take the product cost plus overheads, add your margin to get the room total, then distribute it so the six or so teams everyone wants carry two to three times the weight of the rest — with a floor below which a slot is not worth the admin.
What margin do breakers make?
Room totals typically run 20–35% above the product cost, and that gap is the breaker's gross margin before shipping, supplies and the slots that do not sell. It is not pure profit: an unfilled break means the breaker owns the remaining teams at full cost.
Why are some teams so much more expensive in a break?
Because demand is concentrated. Teams with popular rookies or large fanbases sell instantly at multiples of the average, and pricing them higher is what allows the unpopular teams to be cheap enough to sell at all. An evenly priced break leaves half the room unsold.
