So here's my honest take on Focus Friend. I've tested a bunch of productivity apps and this one's pretty solid. The cute Bean Friend character is a clever way to gamify the focus timer, and I like how you can customize their room as a reward. The Deep Focus mode is useful, and the Pomodoro timers work well. But it can get a bit repetitive after a while, and the ads can be annoying if you don't pay. Overall though, it's a nice little app that should help you stay on task.

Description

I’ve been using Focus Friend by Hank Green for a couple months now. It’s basically a gamified focus timer – when you start a session, your little Bean Friend will focus along with you. And if you interrupt the timer, they get really sad. But complete a session, and you’ll earn prizes to decorate your Bean’s room.

There’s a Deep Focus mode that locks distracting apps, which is pretty useful. And you can use the Pomodoro method with the built-in break timers. Plus, there are hundreds of decorations to choose from to make your Bean’s space look cool.

Look, if you struggle with staying focused, you’ll probably like this app. It’s not perfect – the upgrades take forever at higher levels – but overall it does the job. Worth checking out, especially if you’re a Hank Green fan.
